I crashed for the first time yesterday, what a good way for an Easter day.

I was riding and about to go up a hill when all of a sudden I heard this humming on my left side. When I looked behind me and saw a city bus navigating in two lanes and drafting more into my lane. To the right ahead of me was a parked Suv so what I did next was out of panic. I hopped onto the sidewalk at the last minute so I wouldn't get smashed between the SUV and the Bus or crash into the SUV, thank god no one was walking on the sidewalk. I started braking but I was to late I crashed right into the shrub. My legs are pretty scratched up and my right shoulder crashed into a hard part of the shrub, which is hurting me pretty badly today.

The funny part is when my roomie and I passed by the shrub theres an outline of where I crashed. :D

Needless to say I'm not happy about my shoulder hurting but atleast I'm still walking. The doctor can fix my shoulder; although, I don't think he can fix the embrassment of yesterday's crash.

Glad you have learned a valuable lesson... always aim for the soft leafy bits - not the hard woody bits!

Seriously though, glad the injury was minimal - but tell me, is your bike scratch-free and uninjured??

True confession: when I stop in front of my house, I aim for the azaleas,... just in case.

Oh - and when I first started riding, I crashed into a hedge. And a fire hydrant. Amazing that I'm still riding!

Ah, Ms P Wench... fire hydrants don't have leafy bits!!!

Ouch! At least you're ok dear.

I'm thankful that the fire hydrants are underground here :)

I'm glad you are okay, albeit a bit shaken up. Maybe you should call the bus company and file a complaint?? They shouldn't be allowed to run you off the road!!

I'm pretty sure Martha, my bike, is okay. I haven't really taken a good look at her yet.

I think next time I crash I should do it more elegantly, hehehe.

No need for embarrassment! Just be smug that you outmaneuvered a bus, a parked SUV, and add a couple or three joggers to the tale. It will turn into a masterful bit of cycling/dodging and a heroic and unselfish act of martyrdom to avoid running down a puppy!

Glad I wasn't drinkin' a Coke when I read that! The mess would just be too much to clean up!!! :D

I didn't do it on a bike... But I did run into a big rose bush as a kid. I was playing with my big brother and of course I didn't live it down for a long time. Those scratches hurt but not as much as my little 8-year-old pride.

Glad you weren't hurt! Seriously, make the story grand for co-workers. :D

I dod go to the doctors yesterday to check on my shoulder, he made me take a x-ray. I don't think anything is broken but I do think something is terribly wrong.

run it, ride it

Goodness! I hope your shoulder turns out okay. Now you definitely need to add some embellishments to the story. Puppy, baby stroller, maybe a little old lady with a walker ;).

At least you HAD a reason for the crash! Few weeks back I ran off a cliff and (thankfully) landed in a tree when I wasn't paying attention and took a wrong turn.

At least no one caught you on camera and added you to the "Bicycle Crashes" video!

:p

The trick is to go to Wales - four days of mountain biking and not a single solitary holly bush seen, let alone encountered. A great time had by all, but oh boy, do I ever want a bouncier bike now.

Hope that shoulder gets better soon, pepe.

Did you write a trip report of your Welsh trip? We were there a couple of years ago; no cycling, though. Alas.
