Let's hope today marks a change in the weather here on the East Coast. It's been a month since I've ridden. Longest dry spell in over a year. Just can't seem to get myself to bring the girl back down to the trainer. After spending all winter in PT, decided it was ok to give the tendonitis in my knee a chance to heal before starting the season. Beginning to wonder if I'll ever be pain free again.

Local Tour de Cure set for June 9. Telling myself there's still plenty of time to prepare.

Off to FL for the week tomorrow - watching the 10 day forecast because I really, REALLY, ~REALLY~ want it to be warm when I get back.

Have a great Sunday everyone - however you spend it :)

Brrrrrrr......
Priest at mass this a.m. wished all his bundled-up parish a "Merry Christmas, oops, I mean Happy Easter!" Was 29 here in Maryland.
Still no hummingbirds at our feeders, but I know some of the vanguards are around here somewhere. Spring is here, right?

I rode 43 miles, starting about 40 minutes before sunrise. It was about 30 degrees but I was well layered & really didn't feel it. Yesterday's snow is gone, the trail was almost deserted, and it was peaceful. Saw a fox and lots of bunnies. Unfortunately, the wind started picking up the last 15 miles, so I decided to come home (wind chill was in the 20s, and my legs are sick & tired of riding in strong winds). What is it with all this wind? It seems like I've been riding in strong, gusty winds since January!

Yeah, 28 degrees F here as well, with snow flurries and cloudy/breezy. But DH and I layered up good, kept pretty warm, had a good breakfast, and then did a wonderful hilly 2 1/2 hour ride! My legs are burning but they feel good and I didn't get all out of breath for a change.
Now we are home drinking giant mugs of hot cocoa with MANY large marshmallows on top. :p :p :p

Yup, it's Easter and i just finished a very hard 24 miles. we rode from Wenatchee to Leavenworth. we didn't take the straight hwy 2 route, instead we went along the ridges and climbed hills all the way to Leavenworth. Although the weather was nice, there was a @#$@ headwind. and this time i was not on the back of a tandem, i was on my Bianchi with those same legs that just did over 70 miles yesterday.

I have an inclinometer on my bike (analog, kind of like a level) and i have to tell you, it was almost ALL up hill. what seemed like level was 2% grades. then during some of the sparse downhills, the wind was giving us our money's worth.
the views were even better than yesterdays' so this evening i will share some glorious photos.

two of us did not feel like riding the entire 50 mile round and back, so we split. i rode to Leavenworth, she met us in her car there and then i drove back.

That was a serious workout. i'll give you the elevation gain stats later.
this time the wind DID NOT cooperate.

Happy Easter Everyone. This is the first Easter I remember going to church and seeing very few spring bonnets and bright colors. Everyone was dressed warm. Upper 40's here. but pretty outside-sunshine, where's my spring? it was here a week ago. Jenn

Happy Easter, everyone. I'm in St. Simon's Island, Georgia beginning a week long bike tour of St. Simon's and Jekyll Islands. Kinda chilly....50's but should be in the high 60's and love 70's throughout the week: perfect biking weather. I brought my new Trek 2.1 and here she sits leaning against my computer table in the hotel, waiting to rear up and take on the trails tomorrow.

Hope you all had a good day....and are with those you love.
Best,

Happy Easter! Our plan, DH and I, was to spend a few days on the island of Smøla, visiting our neighbors in their second home and cycling around the island a bit. Then the weather forecasts turned nasty and we left the bikes at home. Just as well. This was what the weather looked like as we drove off the ferry. The storm turned windier and colder day by day; poor biking conditions became fair skiing conditions by day two, but for the wind. Today the wind finally calmed down a bit as we drove home, but as we drove inland the snow got deeper and deeper. We came home to about 6 inches. DH shoveled as I "snowshoed" the gear in from the car. I guess no biking here for a while yet. Oh well. UK Elephant has ordered biking weather for this coming week when I visit her in Essex. :D

Duck-those are awesome pics! I love pictures of weather, especially when its nasty like that.

Its in the 50's here and raining.

Tomorrow I go to Okinawa (think Honolulu) for work...hopefully its nice down there so I can go beach walking!

Okay, in 24 miles, we climbed almost 1500 feet. That seems like a lot to me.
And here's a picture that just HINTS at the views we were treated to throughout today's beautiful ride.http://www.sersale.org/bike/12w.jpg

Ian & I are off on a hill ride. We're biking up to a friends house in Roleystone-in the Perth hills. It'll only be about 40km but i'm going to do Peet road twice.. If I feel ok after that, í'll do a few more km's...
