View Full Version : Shorts - too long!

I have 2 pairs of Pearl Izumi ultrasensor shorts. I need another pair of shorts but each year PI seems to add length to the shorts. At 5'2" the new ones are almost down to my knees. So now I'm looking for another brand of equal quality that are a tad shorter in length. I'm not looking for a short, short.

Does anyone here wear the Cannondale Womens Cycling Climb Shorts? Any other suggestions of shorts similar to the PI ultrasensor? I was actually ready to buy a pair of the Microsensor 3D but they are too long! I don't understand why they keep making them longer.

I just bought the Pearl Izumi sugar shorts, and I love them. They are much shorter, and I am even able to wear them under shorts when mountain biking. I am 5'4 so I feel your pain on long shorts. Check these out, I am very pleased with them.:D

i HATE the PI sugar shorts.... they have the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE chamois! i tried them cuz they seem to be so popular and they are short..... but i can't stand them for more than about an hour on the bike..... ICK ICK ICK!!!!!

i swear by performace ultra's.... the chamois is awesome! i wear them for all my long rides!!!!! AND they are shorter.... (i still roll them up though to raise my tanline!)

Fitmiss,

Perhaps you might try the Sugoi Evolution Shorty. http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=17587 With a 6-inch inseam (ie. shorter, but not *too* short), this is a popular choice for women of shorter stature who don't want shorts to come down to their knees. Gayle, who packs orders in our shipping department, is about 5'1" or 5'2" and she owns a half dozen pairs of these. She loves the length AND the performance features of the chamois and fabric. It's comparably priced to the Ultrasensors as well.

I wear the same short in the 8" version http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=17586 and I think it's an excellent value. One of my favorite chamois, too.

Hope that helps!

Susan

As another shorty (5'1''), I highly recommend any Sugoi shorts with a 6" inseam.

I am also short (I'm 5'4" with extra short legs) and I have a hard time with 8" shorts as they get me behind the knees after awhile. I use the PI Ultrasensors for winter rides where I am wearing leg warmers, but they are too long for comfort in the summer.

Have you tried the PI Attack Short? It's identical to the Ultrasensor, but it's a 6" inseam. Same chamois and material... usually it's like $5 or $10 cheaper than the ultrasensor as well. :) They aren't as easy to find as the Ultrasensor, but some places do carry them. I found that sizing was identical between the two as well.

I'm with GLC--the Attack shorts are great. Shorter than the Ultrasensors; longer than the Sugars.

Thank you, Susan, for the advice. I think I will have to try a pair of the Sugars. I've only heard good things about Sugoi.

Conveniently, Team Estrogen carries these as well. :D

However, the fabric and chamois are both slightly different. You can read the fabric and chamois descriptions for the Attack at the above link, and the fabric and chamois descriptions for the Ultrasensor Short here:

Hope this helps!

Wow, Susan, thanks!

1) I didn't know TE carried them (yippee!)

and

2) I think those are different from mine, but I'll have to look. I could have sworn that mine had the same chamois! Eh...lets just say that if it's not the same, it's close enough that I don't notice a difference on long rides! ;)

Came back to update my previous post. No wonder I was confused! I fnally remembered to check my shorts at home and I had suggested the wrong style!

I didn't mean the Attack Short... I meant the Short Cut short from PI. They are identical to the Ultrasensors, but with a 6" inseam. If you can find them, and you like the Ultrasensors, you'll love them!!

No wonder the ones that Susan posted didn't look like mine! (Though, I might have to give them a try ;) )

Performance Ultra's have a shorter inseam. The chamois is heavenly. The inseam is 5.3/4 or 6 inches I think. Nice fitting.
