I've had my cycling shoes for quite some time and I've gotten a lot of miles out of them so far (about 4000-5000 miles). They don't fit as tight and snug as they used to but I think I can still some more miles out of them. I was just wondering when it's time to retire them and get a new pair.

Sounds like you've gotten good use out of them. Have you spoken to anyone in stores? I mean, assuming you have a salesperson you can trust (i.e. one who doesn't try to sell you a new shoe every five minutes).

Good question! My shoes still fit and are quite comfortable (Nike), but I also have at least 4000 miles on them. hmmmm....I'd never thought about replacing them until they started literally falling apart....

I'm going to some LBS's today, all of them seem to be having their spring sale this week and I did just get paid :D So, I might ask a 'knowledgable' sales person but they are sales people. Just wanted to get some knowledge before I go.

I, too, am pondering that exact question. Well, done pondering, I've acted and bought some cheap sandels. (Hey, I ride a 'bent. I have the right and duty)to be geeky!)

My shoes have gone about 6000 miles, been filled with water on at least one occasion, and STILL cramp my trick toe, causing my foot to hurt. The kicker was when I noticed this spring that I'm stepping out of the shoe with every stroke. Something had to change.

I think I'll change my shoes.
