View Full Version : TdF-lose Sheryl Crow!

I just sent an email to OLN TV about Sheryl Crow - I wish they'd quit interviewing her. She has nothing to add and she's really quite irritating "..Oh Lance is in great shape & I'm not worried..." (Like...tell us everything YOU know about bicycle racing? I've got 3 seconds...)

PLUS, I think it is a huge slap in the face for his ex-wife, who stuck with him throughout his cancer. Lance's interview where he remarked how wonderful Sheryl was for being a tour girlfriend and doing the laundry & cooking - gag me! And how she's getting to be a chamois expert - oh puleeeze!!!

I've always admired Lance Armstrong, but my opinion of him is slipping. If she plants one on him on TV, I may just lose my cookies...

We fast forward through her interviews. And you're right - it is in poor taste.

I have to throw in my 2 cents -- I just said to my sweetie the other day that it surely sucked that his ex-wife has to watch them ooh and ahh over each other on television. (Hopefully, she's choosing not to watch!) I think he can keep the "I'm really happy" with goo-goo eyes answers to himself right now and just say "I'd rather not discuss my personal life" -- if not for anything, just out of respect to the mother of his children. Sickening.

it's been a while since i read his first book.. but i'm with ya on everything except.. wasn't it an ex-girlfriend that stuck with him through cancer and he met his wife after?

but yes.. totally lose sheryl... we don't need her commentary!

I just read the book and yes it was another woman he was with when diagnosed and met his wife later. I am in total agreement
with the lose Sheryl group. If she was even a rider and could add something it would be of great benefit, but she has nothing to add of any benefit...and my guys here almost fall off the couch looking when she is interviewed...much like the OLN team!!

Here's something scary...if you put a picture of Lance's mom, his ex-wife, and the Crow next to each other....THEY ALL LOOK ALIKE!!!!!!!!

I keep hoping this Cheryl thing is a post divorce, sew the oats kind of thing. Most friends I have that've been divorced went through the same thing. Let's find Lance a nice bike riding girl. :p

Yeah, a nice bike riding girl. Not me - maybe one of you? I think Irulan would be awesome. Teach that boy how to RIDE through the brush!

She made a comment today that she was going to leave "but was glad she stayed" for this stage. If she leaves, who is going to do Lance's laundry & cook his food??? Horrors! Wash his own shorts? Boil his own pasta? Does this mean that poor Sheryl will have fallen out of favor?

Stay tuned!

Many male bike racers IME don't like to date/marry other bike riders/racers. Weird, huh? Perhaps it's a competitive thing. I mean who would do the hand-ups if sweetie was racing too?

If La Lance was married to a bike racer, she'd be in Italy right now...

Here are some racing couples I'm aware of - there's no doubt more:

DeeDee Demet Barry (T-Mobile) is married to Michael Barry (Postal)

Lynn Gaggioli (T-Mobile) is married to Roberto Gaggioli (? team)

Also, Tom Danielson of Fassa-Bortolo is engaged to Kristen Johnson who I believe is a mtn bike racer.

- Jo, keeper of useless factoids

how about some gross factoid... Sheryl crow used to sleep with Kid Rock who used to sleep with Pamela Anderson who slept (sleeps?) with what's his face...the rocker...... ack, brain fade... anyway, thanks to my buddy Kathleen who pointed this out and said, "blood tests all around...."

LOL it's like the Kevin Bacon game ...six degrees of separation.

Yeah I know bike-racer couples are out there; would love to see some of them spawn super-fast kids! :D

Still...for every Pro married to a racer there are at least 10 married to someone who probably never even touches a bike. :p

I totally agree about the Sheryl Crow thing. She adds nothing to the relationship as far as cycling goes. If you look at his past, he has a habit of going after the next "flash in the pan". He's not looking to replace Kiki. He's looking for some "strange". I hate to say that about someone I admire for his courage and tenacity on the bike............but personally speaking........he sucks! He did break up with his girlfriend after the cancer thing because it "changed their relationship"; and who am I to say it didn't? No one should be in a relationship that is unfulfilling. I also don't understand the divorce, other than his life was too normal and "ho-hom" so he had to shake it up. Even he will get sick of the Sheryl thing, I think!

She needs to go!

And those are only the ones we know about!!!

As for Lance, who knows....... maybe Kristen was ready to see him leave. After all, how much time did have for her? She did the work of raising the family and keeping the household. He got the rewards. She may be better off without him. I think his kids probably get the worst end of the deal. Now they'll be back and forth and have him around even less frequently than before.

You're right, Annie. They get the worst end of it. Unless, as you say Kristen was glad to see him go. If they were fighting all the time, the kids didn't need to see that. Lance has always made a big deal about being near his kids. Remember last year while training for the tour, he moved his family to Spain so the kids could be close to him from March till after the tour. Kristen didn't want to be there, remember?

This year in the Tour of GA, he publicly said he rode the race to be near his kids. So, maybe that is genuine.......maybe he is really close to the kids. I can't see Kristen letting Sheryl Crowe baby sit the kids, thoug!

You know, maybe someone monitors all this talk about Lance on the message boards and passes it on to Lance. Think?:p

The whole dynamic of relationships fascinates me. I'm a DINK (dual income no kids), and both of us make comparable cash, so there's no real sacrifice -- we do what makes us happy and we have lots of time together.

Kids introduce a whole new set of variables.

I know a pro mtb racer and her husband; they have no kids. Afaik there's no positive cash flow for her. She's lucky if she breaks even, even after all the sponsorship gear and such.

I guess I'm just spoiled; my husband and I each have our own money supply, and we never have to choose who gets to go out and have fun (or work) while the other stays home with the kids. It's hard for me to imagine myself willing to change either situation.

My husband and I are in the same boat- it is pretty nice to only have to look out for ourselves... and we're pretty happy with having the cats be our only 'children'. That said, we still sometimes make 'deals' with each other to buy big things ('big' being my paycheck and then some of his, or vice versa) but it's SO much easier to do.

Monique:

We used to dream of a life like yours...but then got so busy with the kids we didn't even have the time to dream it anymore!
My kids are older now, and life has become so much easier on us both...except for the money stuff, the kids still eat that right up...
but the best part is hearing my son's changing voice yell..."Hey Mom, let's go riding". :D

The interview I read quotes him as saying that the kids are unaffected. I suppose that it really means that he has no idea what his kids are going through. I know that divorce may be the best, but it absolutely affects the kids. yeah, he's just so shallow. But an excellent rider. Maybe that's how you become the best - by just focusing on one part of life and neglecting the rest. So shallow Sheryl would be a good match. But i'm not interested in her opinions on bike issues. Interview Robin Williams, also his friend.

I definitely think that, to be a pro athlete at that level, something has to give. You can't have time for a balanced life.

Hey- I rarely email TV shows- but I'll tell ya- sign me up on this one.
I used to really like her too- but I think she's so vacuous now.
Ick!
Yeah , of course she's gonna say "Oh I don't worry, Lance and the Team is so strong blahblahblah...oh...<head toss> look- I think I broke a nail..."

What else do you think he'd tell her.Or that she'd say...
Although it *would* be more interesting if she said- well, Lance thinks that George is out to win the stage and the glory for himself. AND Lance says Ullrich sucks big rocks, and Tyler Hamilton doesn'[t wash his shorts often enough...and I think the French stink, they need to wear more deodorant...
HELL yeah - that's be awesome.

But no, she'll just parrot the little positivo inane blurbs that don't mean anything.

OLN - get rid of her!
double ick.

Kimba
A little goes a long way....

and of course I could say something about "Lance eating crow..."
but I won't.

Most excellent!

On OLN last night, they said Lance won't go to the Olympics because he wants to be with his kids. Time will tell.

In his interview Tour-de-House-in-Spain he said how smart Sheryl Crow is because she can work all of her electronic equipment. I'm yelling at the TV "It's her JOB you MORON!"

....goes off mumbling in a corner....

I dunno ... musicians amaze me. And hey, are you impressed by Lance? Because, you know, cycling is his job, so what's the big, right?

I just took it as the typical talk of someone who's still smitten and finds everything about their s.o. incredible. As such, I thought it was cute.

Hee, I'll take Sheryl over Al Trautwig any day. His commentary is like nails on a blackboard to me.

Did you catch Bob Roll telling him that the riders have special catheters, and their cycling suits have special evaporation fields, so they never have to take bathroom breaks? I can't decide if Al T. believed him or not...

Or when BR told him that the cycling computers have videos on them "because it can get boring in the peloton". Al's response - Ah the digital age...

I'm sorry, I'm not a computer person. I can tell you it's in the magazine, August issue, Women's Pages, and the article is called "The Next Big Step." It's actually focused on her running program and the byline is Kristin Armstrong. She hardly even mentoins Lance. Not sure how to hyperlink, hope this helps. Kathy

I agree with the ditch the Sheryl croud...even my husband said so! And the way the guys interviewing her are awestruck it's sickening!

As for his kids, I agree they get the worst of it. And respect should be shown there.

I have kids and my husband just got a road bike for father's day. His choice. It's a great outlet that we do together and our kids are wanting to ride their bikes more often. It might just become a family sport. My daughters are 6, 9, and 12. The 6 year old has a bike connected to my bike and she pedals too. It's great and it gets us all together and all in shape. :)

have a good ride!

I haven't seen the S. Crow thing, but agreed she is disgusting.
I do not believe they have not been together much longer than he says. I don't think he'd have someone he doesn't really know with him in training.

Another cycle couple:

Kimberley Bruckner t-mobile
Chris Baldwin - Navagators

I'll throw in a mountain biking mixed marriage couple. Tinker Juarez (Cannondale mountain biker) was married to Jimena Florit (RLX mountain and road biker), but they divorced.
