 Hi Everyone, just found this site; I have a question probably asked by many; is there a seat out there that most people find "comfortable"? I do triathlons and whereas most favor the bike portion, it's not my best; I spend most of my time shifting left, right, forward etc., due to the extreme discomfort. I have had three different seats, just bought my 4th today. There are 2 bike shops around here, all men, and they don't have a clue. Any help would be appreciated. Deb

Go down to the "Gear and Accessories" section. There are pages on saddles.

Regardless of which seat you go with I believe you will need to stick with it for quite awhile for your body to adjust to it. After several weeks of riding if it is still uncomfortable then I'd try a different one. But I really think you have to let you body adapt. I know when I last tried to ride my mtn bike after a long layoff the seat really hurt my behind. That saddle is much wider than my road bike and my tushie didn't like it one bit. Maybe you need a narrower saddle?

I second the invitation to visit the "Favorite saddles" threads...

Moreover, note that if you're spending a lot of time in aero position (aero bars or drops) you probably need to be fitted in a different way on your bike than if you're always on the hoods or tops. A good fit is just as necessary as a good saddle: you cannot just put the saddle on the bike and be comfy (unless you're terribly lucky).

Good luck. It's not a nice place to be in.
