I love alaska! I can't wait to go again, hoping to in 2 or 3 years! But CWR, it is a place where you can define yourself, even without seeking the extremes of this race. I backpacked and kayaked on the Kenai Peninsula for ~2 wks with my sister a few years ago and it taught us things we didn't necessarily know beforehand about ourselves and each other throughout. It was at times very hard and frustrating, but at times immensely rewarding. In short, everything I'd hoped and thought, and more! And even more grateful to have shared this with my sister.

Wow! Quite an adventure, but not my idea of a good time... maybe a one-day ride in the snow, with saunas and food and such at each end?:D

I remember feeling so calm and happy when I was up there. It's a different state of mind for me.

Wow, pedaling in 20 below weather:eek: Props to her. Particularly when they had to sleep outside and listening to the wolves howl. I dont know how I would handle that ride. That is one tough gal!

well, the crackling of the lungs and serious EDEMA of her entire body plus "minor" frostbite would have sent me begging for a helicopter!
either of the first two problems could have killed her!
