View Full Version : is it... possible to have too much pink?

So I needed to change seat, stem, handlebars on my roadbike. I wanted an Arione, and saw that it came in... **pink**... Of course this meant I had to have pink. Well I just got it back from the shop (needed a new bb that took 3 weeks to come in), I had them do the pink tape... And I'm not sure what I've done
Here's the before:
2802
And the after --
2803
I'm way excited about my new smaller handlebars (decided on Ritchey Pro Biomax, went from the stock 42 bars to 38s), hopeful that the shorter stem will improve my position, and the Thomson seatpost is just pretty (& I can use the setback), but I'm not so sure about all of the pink... The bike, unfortunately, is not gorgeous to begin with (someday...). But woah, it's a lot of pink. And the pink is BRIGHT. Is it horrible?

You absolutely positively need pink tires! I have Continental GP3000's in 'magenta' (pink to me!) and the Schwalbe pinks that I bought right here from Team Estrogen. It will balance out the look by having pink lower down on the bike. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Okay, you also need the pink Polar bottles too.
And the new pink Speedplay pedals. :o

No, I like it, it jazzes the bike up. It was looking a little bland, it not overdone. jmo. Happy riding Jennifer
I want to spruce up my road bike w/ diff handlebar tape or something. it is silver w/ black and yellow trimwork. It needs some more yellow or a marble grey, black, yellow tape. pondering the thought.:)

I have added some color to my scoot, cept in orange. I like the colors. Go for the pink tires. If you are going pink, go all the way.

The pink details on the silver bike REALLY improve its looks. Gives it a lot of class and personality.
SOuthern Belle, let's see a picture of your scoot?
PLEASE?

The pix of my new bars with my orange Salsa tape is down I think in gear and accessories. I just put the new tires on yesterday. They are orangey/yellow. I am contemplating orange bottle cages, but haven't yet gone there. Probably will. :p

It looks good. Wow...you must be a speed demon! Your bars are quite a bit lower than your saddle. Very aero.
of course next time you need new rims there are always Velocitys too..... they come in a range of colors including pink.

(I'm not personally a pink fan - but my husband got the electric red Aeroheads put on his track bike and they do look awfully purdy...)

Go with the pink. You only live once! (It will fade a little bit, anyway.)
The black trim was a little dull. Easy to find your bike during group rides and in photos!

I think your bike looks awesome.
Of course I have a pink bike.
Now I will have to think about getting pink tires and rims. I am eying the pink saddle pack on TE, thinking of replacing my smaller black one, then got to thinking all of this Oregon rain might just get a pink saddle pack real dirty.
And of course I have a lot of pink bike clothing.
Seriously, your bike looks beautiful.

I have the same saddle and bar tape on my bike, and I LOVE it! Last year, these were on my race bike (a blue Cannondale), and I often got comments on the pink at races (and racers who recognized me BECAUSE of the pink).
I have a new ride for racing this year that is black and red, so I moved all of the pink to my TT bike - maybe it will make me go faster :D .
If you like it and it makes you happy, that's all that matters! I love it.

I just bought a pink Fuji, so perhaps I am the wrong person to comment, LOL.
As long as all the pinks are the same shade it should be fine!

I love pink! I have pink handle bar tape, water bottle cage, and I even had some streamers installed! I LOVE them. Let me know how you like the Arione saddle I have been interested in getting it for a while. I want pink tires too!

I have never been a pink person either but I just "girlied-up" my unpainted ti bike with a new Susan Komen CK headset & the pink Terry saddle. I formerly had blue bar tape (see avatar) & have now switched to black, and got a new black saddle bag instead of the red. Still have blue rims but might switch with SO (we have identical wheels, different color rims) because he has black. No pics of the new bike yet but will soon.
As for pink cycling clothes - I turn PINK when I ride so I don't ever wear it...
But I agree, after seeing all these beautiful bikes with their pink - it's hard to have too much!

No way, never too much pink (I have two pink Lunas so I'm biased). I think your and CA_in_NC's bikes' pink touches are classy.

Not being much of a pink beforehand, I say it is [toomuch pink], but if you like it then by all means keep it.
By the way, I LOVE your bike. Where as you say it's not gorgeous, I say differently totally. I am really into the pewter, balck, and blue scheme.
Do you like your Felt?

I like all of the pink. I think the bikes are splendid.
For those of you who like pink bike clothing also, I've been wearing this jersey jacket for the last 6 weeks or so. I really like this jacket. It looks good on and it is perfect for the temperature in the 50-65 range.

I am the Anti-Pink, but the Felt looks great with pink accents. It really brings out the light blue in the color scheme. Well done!

I recommend the pink Schwalbe Stelvios. I bought them purely for the color but discovered they are much nicer tires than I had before. Ride is very plush and grippy.
Here's my bike WITH pink tires (& me looking beat after a long, very windy ride that bf made me lead the whole way):

That's my bike, too. Love my Ruby but shame on you for showing me that web site and giving me the idea to "pimp" my bike up a bit..... oh for the lack of money....... the curse..... buy groceries for the family or pimp my bike............. curses!!!:D :D :D :D

Love the shag!!!!!!!!!!! Not my first choice personally, but man is that unique!
Oh, why oh why did you do this to me??????

the pink is awesome!!!
but pink tires would look even better.....
and maybe pink chris king headset and hubs? that may be overkill :)
I think that Pink is the way to go. I'm a newbie to biking but you have definitely given me some inspiration. I do have the Pink polar water bottle so I'm off to a good start.
