I'd been too busy to post until now. The morning started out sad. My daughter phones at 5am that her flight home from Boston for spring break was cancelled due to snow. She is gonna try to get out on standby, but they can't give her a confirmed booking until tuesday. I nearly don't go for my ride I am so stressed (and tired), but I decide to go since sitting on the sofa stressing about her flights and my son's soon to be announced MIT admissions decision isn't going to change anything, so off I go. The weather is great (70s). The club ride today was only 10 miles from home so I rode to the ride. I nearly missed the ride start as I stopped to take a frantic call from daughter, now #30 on the standby list. I ride 20 miles with a nice couple, and stop to take another call from daughter, she is now #20 on the standby list, its looking better. I ride another 10 miles, now alone. Son calls, he got into MIT. Happy day, the sun feels brighter, I start to sing as I ride, life is good. I tell him to meet us at the restaurant I am meeting my husband at after the ride (he is doing the longer loop with the fast boys). Son dons the MIT sweatshirt he bought at his last visit, finally removing the tags so it can no longer be returned. He waits for his Dad to roll up, knowing by looking at him in his MIT sweatshirt that he got in. But, then the bad news comes, daughter is still stuck in the snow, and can't get a confirmed flight home until tuesday :(. But, she too is very happy that her brother will be going to school so close to her (she goes to wellesley).

Good news!! Hey, what's a little bit of snow, that'll pass. MIT is gonna be there for a while :)

I got out and rode 37 miles (had to ride more than the temperature) and wore myself plumb out (everything to do with not being able to fully inflate the tires). Time for retiring (and re-pumping said tires...)

Goal is for a 200 mile week... we'll see ;)

Yes, I rode for the first time in 8 weeks since my car accident. PT okay'ed me to ride a little and see how it goes. So I took my new Trek Fuel EX 9.0 for a spin.

I rode with my 12 y.o. daughter a couple miles to the donut store. (She likes to have a destination.) It was beautiful out. No, I did not eat a donut (well, a couple bites of hers).

My bike rides like a dream but I really want to get her in the dirt. Need to wait on that though, the old lumbar is not ready yet. But it felt great to have the wind in my face. :D

I was on my bike today! Outside, even!! First time this year!

Gosh, I think DH and I did a whole 6km of road on our mt bikes. But it felt good. :D My energy crash nearly happened, but I pulled through it....and am still up now, though it is bed time.

If all goes well, I'll be out again tomorrow - with DH and our friends. The plan is flat and gentle. A good way to start the season.

Hugs and butterflies,
~T~

Yep, I rode today - its autumn here in Australia and beautiful weather, about 25 c (mid 70's?) Had a family kinda morning and this afternoon was my parent's 60th wedding anniversary. Whole family was going to a city hotel for 'high tea' (it's an english thing, finger sandwiches, scones and little desserts) Thought I wasn't going to get to exercsie but at 12.30 thought I could manage a quick MTB ride, got back with half an hour to spare, jumped thru the shower, wet the hair and put some leave in conditioner on and decided I'd go curly instead of straight. Got dolled up and had a fantastic time with my parents, my brother and his 3 kids (plus 2 partners) our three kids (plus 2 partners) my mother in law, aunty and of course my gorgeous hubby. What a special day we had, lots of chat and reminiscing! We are a very blessed family.

Pretty glad I made the effort to squeeze the ride in. Also good as it's my first ride since I hurt my back a week ago and not exercising is not good for me. Roll on autumn!!
