to my second bike that is. I've been looking for the perfect commuter bike to ride to work, go to the grocery store etc. It just was not convenient on my Specialized and I hated carrying everything on my back. Been searching for over a year with no real success.
Saturday I drove to a town not so so far from where I live that specialized in commuter bikes. It is there where I fell in love with and purchased a brand new Bianchi Boardwalk. With her new rear rack and reversable pedals (stage & SPD), she is perfect in every way for my commutes and errands around town - and not to mention riding the local trails with my little niece (the future rider). I'll post pictures as soon as I get my paniers and seat trunck.
Now I just need some touring shoes so I don't clunk around in the stores.
Of course I will have to manage my ride time wisely so my Allez does not feel neglected. :p

That is great. I also am in the process of getting my commuter bike ready. I have a 9 year old Voodo mtb that i first started riding on awhile ago. It used to be my husband's. I put on a rack, lights, and am waiting for the pannier to arrive from REI and a computer from Performance. I plan to use the bike for trips to the drugstore, Trader Joe's, local farm markets, and the library when I stop working this June. Oh , and to feed my caffeine addiction.
I may try it to commute to work in a few weeks when it's a bit lighter in the AM. It's heavy compared to my road bike, so I'm a little worried about how long the trip will take. it's 13.5 miles by car and probably 15 by bike to avoid a traffic situation (a rotary).
I am now a 3 bike person!

Congrates on finally finding your commuter bike. Where did you go to find the lbs that specializes in commuter bikes? I commute on my trek 6500 mtb. It is ok, but it has front shocks and I don't really like that. It would be nice to see what they have out there for commuter bikes....

I went to Saturday Cycles in West Bountful. Its a tiny little shop only opened on Saturdays. Their add is in this months cycling utah. It was worth the drive, for me anyway. He had a beautiful Rivendal frame but sadly it was outside of my budget.
I road my lovely Bianchi to work for the first time today. It was so enjoyable. The only sad thing is I still had to back pack it since the paniers are on order. But they will be here soon enough.
Who are the Bianchistes and how do I join?
