I am trying to decide which Atlantic Beach to take a family vacation at. Please Help! I live in Western Pa and have three children ages 20 - 25. My daughter would be driving from Philadelphia where she lives and my sons still in colllege may drive to the beach with us or by themselves. I like seeing the beach and ocean, having a pool, NOT cooking most meals, biking would be a plus but not necessary, other things to do in the area in the evening would also be a plus. We have been to Ocean City, MD many times and this may still be an option, but I would like to hear about alternative ideas.

Come to beautiful Long Beach Island New Jersey. Our beaches are bar none, some of the prettiest I have ever seen. The island is 18 miles long, and most of it has a shoulder for biking. Great restaurants, but no honky tonk. No boardwalk. Just quaint towns.

The town of Beach Haven has a very nice resort feel with lots of shops and a great water slide and activities for kids.

We are about an hour from Philly.

Come on down!

I've been to O.C. too many times myself over the years. If you like that general feel though but want more to do overall, try Cape May, NJ. You have great beaches and a nice town with lots to do. Lots of art galleries, stores, etc. The ferry goes across the bay to Lewes, DE. Lewes is a neat little town too but not much going on overall unless you head over to Rehoboth Beach. (another favorite of mine) Rehoboth has a great boardwalk and restaurants. Good luck. :)

We go to Ocean City, Maryland every year and love it. Very family friendly, for our kids 4 & 7. We love the special programs the lifeguards have, boardwalk at night, and excellent beaches. DH and I split time, he'll bike the coast, and I'll walk the beach. We usually spend one day at the northern beaches. The whole area is a real gem.

I live at one of the lower Del. beaches, so if there is something specific you need... I can help

The island is covered with bike baths and the beaches are firm enough for riding. Plenty of places to eat out; no undertow and quiet/calm.

OMG Beach Haven!! We spent every summer there when I was a kid (70's and 80's). We owned a "bay front" house which I assume is a full block from the bay by now due to to the massive development. Susan Avenue. I loved it there.
