Where does one get tested? (generally speaking i mean). I live in a small town without a major university nearby that would have physiology labs. I know while at school we did this testing but now being out of that environment I am not sure where to even start looking......
I know you can do "estimates" by either running or cycling a certain distance, is that what people generally do?
We have a concept II rower at home and I know that you can do an estimate of your LAT based on your rowing time of 2000m, but would your LAT change depending on your activity? I would think it would- but I don't know -so if any of you gals have some info I would love to hear it- I'm getting curious about my LAT and wondering about the easiest or simpliest way to get it tested.
Thanks in advance:).......

Some tri clubs have access to LT monitors now and they can even do testing on a computrainer almost anywhere. They can even do VO2 max testing with minimal equipment.

I would try contacting a local tri club and maybe call the Bike Barn in Penticton. They might know.

Thanks for the info gals- I will call the bike barn in penticton, tha t is pretty close. V - is UC Davis a university? or company?
I was sorta hoping I could just imagine running, type in my perceived efforts and presto get a LAT:) I still have bad memories of doing VO2 max at University and having people drop and puke all afternoon in the lab.

Boy, I read the title of this thread and thought... "LA Threshold?"
Now they're measuring one's tolerance for all things Los Angeles?!
I know the Seattlites hate us (and just about every sports fan in the country) but I didn't realize it had gone this far! :p

University of California at Davis. But the testing facility was actually in Sacramento. :)

Hi, Pika!

I rode with my friend from town that you know, C, and she has hired a couple who as coaches as she trains for XTerra....and she said they have the equipment, right here in town :D , to do the LA testing. Next time she is in for a treatment, ask her about it....or email me and I'll find out their names.

Also, if you want another opinion on the used bike, DH wouldn't mind at all taking a look. PM or email if you'd like to take him up on it and we'll arrange a time, etc.

I hope you're well and enjoying the moments of spring we've been getting!

Hugs and butterflies,
~T~

It's a really interesting process.
