View Full Version : So much for thighs, what about your bum?

All this talk about thighs brought me to thinkings about the "SCB" - spectacular cyclists' bum. I've been riding just on 18 months now and my bum is fantastic - despite the fact that it belongs to an overweight body (108kg - 238pounds).
My bum defies the rest of my body and gravity through cycling. I love a nice, round, high bum and now I have one! I'm still working on the rest, but for now my bum keeps me happy.:D
I saw a woman at the pool last week in the change rooms and she had no bum at all. I wanted to lend her my spare bike, but how do you do that. "Hi, your bum makes me sad - maybe you should go for a ride".

Skaters have a very nice bum. On par with cyclists I'd say.
Fortunately, I played ladies hockey in my youth and now I ride. My bum makes J-Lo look like chopped liver.
Unfortuantely, there is that big scar. But hey, no bum can be perfect.
I actually won a bum award once. But that's a story for another time.

Well, since you asked so nicely.
In my first year of college I would occasionally hang out with my older sister at the bar. She was a wild one. She was also very well endowed and would often enter wet T-shirt contests and usually win. So we're out at the bar one night, I'm a little drunk, (thanks to her) and she signs me up for a "Hot Buns" contest. As I was not coherent, I thought what the hey. The prize was a full Levis wardrobe and I loved my 501s so up to the stage I go. I won.
Little did I know that this was only a municiple level contest and that I would be invited to the regional contest based on my bedonkadonk. Once sober the next day, I protested that I wouldn't go to the regionals. My sister told me to quit being a priss and swore she'd make sure I had enough to drink.
So we went to the regionals. I got drunk and I won that too. So I have the title of Ms. Hot Buns Central Alberta 1990. And I have hockey to thank for it.
I won more Levis, a pioneer stereo and a music library. Very cool. The hard part was making the Pioneer stereo work in my tin can Pontiac Acadian. They had to build speaker boxes for it!! That was one kick *** stereo in one pathetic car.:p :p
That was a great story, Wahine! Here's to getting drunk every now and then :D
I have a spectacular bum too, come to think of it. It makes up for my total lack of waist and boobs, and my Olympian shoulders.

All this talk of better bum and thighs has given me hope!
I have only ridden about 700 km in 10 months, but I have noticed that my legs have definitely become stronger as I now ride quite comfortably using gears I couldn't manage before. Something must happened to the muscles (not that they have visibly grown). Would like to know if an inner upper thigh area change can be expected in the future if I pedal longer and harder! I have given up on ever having a decent bum, I'm battling gravity and genetics there I think.

You don't say whether you are overweight or not. I lost 25 lbs and gained some muscle in my legs over the past year of walking and biking. Since I had excess fat in my hips and legs, I have noticed the inner thighs has definitely slimmed down and there is a lot of space between them now not like before. I like that! :) The backs and the tops of my thighs definitely have more muscle than they used to, and my calves. ...Not that I look like an athlete or anything, far from it.

If only I'd known- I would have started cycling AGES ago if I could develop a butt- I don't just have a small bum- I have NO bum- I'm like that poor pathetic girl in the dressing room- I feel sorry for my bum too:(- I think that is why I maried DH- he has a magnificent bum. OTOH.....
I think if I were to get a prize it would be for wearing my Levis backwards and not being able to tell!
Wahine- or shall we say Queen Debonkadonk:)- Cycle on.....

Well, you've seen it in person. (Clothed of course, before anyone misunderstands). Does it justify such a magestic title? Just kidding. I don't really want to know the answer to that. That's kinda creepy.

Well, after 6 years of cycling, my bum is a lot smaller, but still loose and flabby. I think it would take a lot more than the amount of training I want to do, to get it any better. I think genetics plays a large part here. At least I don't have to buy a bigger pair of pants and take the waist in anymore.

In answer to LisaSH. I'm not really overweight, though if I lost 6 or 7 kgs I'd be happy. I'm hoping to increase my riding time now that the we are entering Autumn. It's been too hot to ride much lately (I'm a bit of a sap). High 30's and low 40's C temps do put me off somewhat.
As I said before, my legs are much stronger, but no visible shape change is evident, although they could be a trifle more toned now. I check them out in the mirror every now and then to see if they've changed. Recently changed the height of my seat and have noticed muscles complaining above the knee now. I'd been riding with the seat set in one position since I'd bought the bike and thought I'd make a change and see what happened. Am riding a medium men's Avanti hybrid/comfort bike, and it felt OK in the bike shop for my height 5'6". I'm no expert in this, just learning. :)
P.S. I'm new to the internet world and have only recently joined 2 cycling forums and replying to a thread is very experimental at the moment - so forgive the errors please.

I needed that good laugh!
[Sir Mix-a-Lot]
I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a round thing in your face
You get sp*&#*, wanna pull out your tough
'Cause you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh baby, I wanna get wit'cha
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that butt you got makes me feel so h*&%*
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-skin
You say you wanna get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that average groupy
I've seen them dancin'
The hell with romancin'
She's sweat, wet,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
Sayin' flat butts are the thing
Take the average black man and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your girlfriend got the butt? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to shake it! (Shake it!) Shake it! (Shake it!)
Shake that healthy butt!
Baby got back!
Sorry couldn't help myself ladies. And I have been a part of the junk in your trunk club sence i was born. Unfortuantly my Dad called me fat A** most of my teenage years (that is another post another time) I have accepted my butt and now love it!

Brandi - that is so funny. Everytime I look at this thread that son g gets in my head and won't get out. I actually found a youtube anime video to that song and I tried to post a link but it wouldn't work. I think it has something to do with the fact that you have to be 18 to view the video.
