Will be doing a very long ride in June. Need good shorts and good shoes. I looked at the PI microsensor short. Are they considered good, not to rub? Any others? Shoes, I have some CATs that are comfy but hear that Sidi make a comfy shoe too. Which model?

I have a pair of the Airstream that Lisa listed above and I really dont like them for rides over about 50 miles however Veronica has them and used them for her double century rides I believe and loved them. Shorts are like saddles etc different for everyone. I guess you will need to try some and see what works for you.

3 doubles and a century did in my LGs. I had them on for my 200K in Hawaii in December and ended up switching to my Assos knickers after about 50 miles.

I did a lot training in them too. So they probably lasted 2000 miles. I don't know if I would get another pair. They are very expensive to feel good for only one season.

I wish TE would carry Assos. :p

Wow they were there this morning - reduced but there. I think these must be the replacement ones for 07. They look different than last years though so I cant vouch for these.

They're almost identical to last year's. They had some problems with the 2006 chamois de-laminating and coming apart on some shorts, both men's and women's. So they fixed that problem for the 2007 version. Otherwise, the fabric and fit are the same.

This is always such a hard question to answer, because we all have our own individual fit preferences, etc.

But here's a few of my personal favorites. (For the record, I'm 5'4", proportionately shaped, and typically wear larges & x-larges, depending upon the brand. 31-32 inch waist, 41-42 inch hips.

I have last year's version and am getting ready to start wearing the 2007's. The fabric is so nice, and I really like Sugoi's mid & upper end chamois. I especially like that Sugoi's chamois are not too long front to back. The Ricaro 2 chamois in the Evolution short is technnically one step down from the chamois in the RS Short, but I still think it's excellent. And at $80, the Evolution is an awesome awesome short. I'm also a big fan of Shebeest bottoms. They fit my shape really well, and I find that the chamois is perfectly smooth and very comfy. The chamois in the Shebeest Ultra D has been designed for longer distance riding.

Although I haven't tried the new Ultra D yet (so many shorts, so little time!! :) ), I do have last year's Elite Distance Short, which had the same chamois. I really like it for longer rides. For '07, SHebeest designed the Ultra D with more compressive fabric than the DriStyle that was on the Elite. The idea being that the more compressive fabric will give better muscle support, especially important on longer rides.

I also own a pair of the Louis Garneau Airstream Short. I love the supportiveness of the fabric.

And depending upon the shapre of your butt, you either love them or hate them, as you either hit the perforations or miss them, depending upon the position of your sit bones. They get more positive reviews than negative, but it is something to think about.

I also excited about a few shorts we haven't received yet for spring. Descente has some really nice shorts coming, as does Castelli. We've just received some new Exte Ondo shorts, which I haven't even had a chance to try on yet, but I've heard great things about from a few customers who've already purchased them.

You guys are so awesome, so helpful. I have been riding for almost a year now and love it. I'm learning so much from this site. Thanks for all the ideas and links for shorts. What shorts are "LG"? Also, I see ultra sensor and microsensor. I thought they had a different chamois but I think the difference is the breathability of the fabric of the short itself. Basically I guess you want seamless padding, not too think but enough to cover the pressure points. Shoes, Genius or dominator. Performance has the Zeta, Genius, and ergo. what the heck is the difference??? The ergo has a carbon mesh. I have a CAT that is carbon composite and wide toe box, not bad. Hey, next challenge is to ride down hill in the large gear and not squeeze the brakes the whole way. I think I'll die.::eek:

Low enough to cool your lower back, but high enough so that it's above anything you might not want others to see. And although the mesh part is a little bit cooler than the rest of the fabric, it isn't really see-through. :)

We just checked in a big shipment of Etxe Ondo today. It'll be online within a week. Beautiful stuff. Some reds and blues, but a few different pieces as well. Nothing pistachio though.

I finnaly decided on a pair of shorts. I got the Sugoi RS. Expensive but if I am comfortble, it is worth it. I found a new gel I hope to try. It is called Crank. Has Aminos, B6, complex carbs, no caffeine, sodium AND Potassium and more. Sounds perfect. Anyone tried it yet? They sell it at my local running stroe.
