Hi, planning a cross-country tour this summer. My tires on the 2006 Bianchi Volpe are:
WTB All Terrainasaurus, 700x32C

But, I'd like to know if there are any tires out there that I can research. I'm interested in that bullet-proof Kevlar material...anyone want to share their experiences with different tires? It would be a good help!

There was a discussion on the different Schwalbe Marathon tires over at crazyguyonabike.com early last year that may give you some ideas. Discussion is here (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/forum/board/message/?thread_id=24804).

There are also some reviews of tires posted there. Here's a list of the tire reviews (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/reviews/board/?board_id=3578), many of which have comments from individuals in addition to the person who posted the review.

I am currently running Schwalbe Marathon slicks for touring, but I do not have the weight on my bike that you will have on your trip - I've been doing more light touring lately (no camping gear). The other Marathons (not the slicks) are probably more appropriate for your use. If you want to see the range of Schwalbe tires that are available, check the Schwalbe Tires (http://schwalbetires.com/bike_tires/road_tires) site.

I definitely recommend the Kevlar (flat resistant) tires for touring long distances over unfamiliar or irregular road surfaces.
