No big changes here but I did manage to maintain the weight loss I had last week. Now that I'm back on the bike, I hope to see those last 7 pounds drop off. Did 35 km today, half of it in the hills, so maybe something will budge in the next couple of days? I'm in a calorie deficit for today so far. Have eaten about 550 and burned off 1000. Heading out for a Valentine's dinner tonight so that will change. :)
Also, I've finally gotten into a routine of doing 100 crunches plus core exercises on one day, and upper body weights the next. I just keep alternating days. I wonder how long it'll take to see some of that dangly arm flab tighten up?
How's everyone else doing?
Hi Gals:
I hope it is ok to join in now with the weigh-ins.
I have been monitoring my weight since Jan but not doing enough to actively have it drop.
Today I weigh 142- my goal is 135.
This last week I managed Tuesday:to get in a short run 45min
Wednesday: Evil Troy indoor interval session
Thursday: yoga class
Sat: Long slow run 1hr:45
This week my husband and I are both doing a 5 day cleanse so I am not sure how that will affect activity- hopefully it won't be so brutal as to inhibit physical activity- mostly I am worried about the "no coffee!" yikes- I am already anticipating the dull headache associated with the withdrawl!
Wish me luck:)

Welcome Pika! Sounds like you're doing lots exercise which should help. I've never done a cleanse but always wanted to try one. It'll be interesting to see how much you lose.
I was disappointed with this week's weigh in. All of the numbers are up - weight, fat %age, metabolic age, and muscle mass went down. It's all incremental so I'm not worried, just a bit frustrated.
DH had a great weigh in for the second week. He's almost reached his April objectives. YAY!
And DH tells me that he can see the difference on me in a good way, so I suppose I should not worry too much about what the scale says. Of course some of my clothes are loose now, so he must be right!
In the last week I snowshoed Sunday, did a kickboxing workout Tuesday, rode the trainer for 35 minutes on Wednesday, and yoga each workday morning. The other days were the usual walk to work plus walking the dogs. In retrospect that's a pretty light week for exercise so I guess that's why the weigh in was what it was.
This week will be a tough one at work, I'm not sure how I'll fit those workouts and the school work I need to do in, and today I feel low like I"m fighting a bug. Hopefully I'll find some wellspring of energy and have a fabulous week! :p
Well done to all of you ladies working on this same goal! And, welcome Pika! Nice to "meet" you!
Hugs and butterflies,
~T~

I'm at 171 and satisfied. Goal is 160 in four months.
Last week, I turned 44, had food poisoning, spent three days in Phoenix (w/exercise), got stranded in Chicago after an unplanned visit to Minneapolis, and came back to a schedule that wouldn't quit.
No excuses, but I'm pleased enough with a week like that with minimal backsliding. I'm back on track.
LBTC: Tell your DH congrats on the progress for me.

This week is much better, weight loss 1.5 (finally a more reasonable number, last week's loss was way too high). Total inches change from last week 4.5 (that is the number I like to see).
I altered my routine and am working on more weights. Today is fat Tuesday and I plan to over-induldge. I have been counting the days. :)

down 3.6 this week. This is good since I went up a lb last week. My total is now over 17lbs with many more to go.
I was able to get smaller pants on this week for work. Definitely a nice feeling.

Well, I've been exercising like a fiend. I'm looking better and I'm back down to 142 lbs. I was up last week. My pants are looser and the cottage cheese is slowly melting off. :)

Great job everyone!:D
No big changes here (no weight loss or gain), a little perplexed that my basset hound lost more weight this year than I did (he just visited the vet).
I'm trying the Cyclo-core and Cyclo-zen dvds to jump start my body and see if that can pull my body out of hibernation.

Wahoo..I haven't weighed myself this week but i have to share something with you.
My clothing is getting looser on the sides & front. I'm able to fit into some of my size 12 clothing, depending on the manufacturer.:)
I'll post the pic Ian sent to me of how I was 6yrs ago & now..
Just a bit happy.

Hey, guys, can I get in on this weekly weigh-in thing? I'm not willing to share my actual weight, but I'd love the extra motivation to share my weekly progress (weight lost (hopefully not  gained)). I'm doing the Weight Watchers points thing, but not going to the meetings--too expensive. I'd rather save that money for some nice new bike clothes after I shed a few pounds.
That said: I weigh myself on Wednesdays, and this week, down 2 pounds. I call that success!

Yay, glad to hear most people are losing weight and/or sizes! I am down two sizes since I started and I went out and bought two new pairs of pants for work last weekend because the ones I bought in October are too big now. :D :D
My weight doesn't seem to be budging this week but it tends to do that, nothing one week, and then a lb or so lost the next.

I'm losing, too, but I always have these setbacks right around menstruation. This month, I could feel it coming on, and unlike last month, I didn't use it as an excuse to binge. But I STILL went backwards this week. I even worked out 4 times this week instead of 3, including a mountain biking trek not 4 hours after my morning cardio/weight lifting on Wednesday. My weight went up almost 3 pounds AFTER the start of my period!
It is trending back down...by about a half a pound this morning. But I can't take these setbacks every month. I've even thought of using the pill to skip periods until I get the weight off. I don't have to use BC, and it's been 24 years since I have been on the pill, and it wasn't a positive experience then (although I know they've changed a lot since then). I'm just that motivated! What do you think about that idea?

Well it might be worth it but... I am on the pill and usually, in the last day or so of the pack, I get a little bloated and tend to gain weight for a few days until my period is over. Now for the past couple of years, I've been taking three 21-packs in a row before taking a break to get my period. Interestingly enough, I am noticing that the bloating and weight gain even happens when I am at the end of a pack and starting a new one. I've watched this carefully for many months now and I'm pretty sure it's not my imagination or coincidence.

Yeah, I figured it couldn't be perfect! :P I'm just too desperate. lol.
Thanks for that input.

Thought I would check-in bright and early before I get my day started.
This morning I weighed 139lbs- woohooo yippeeee:):) That is down 3 lbs but moreover I broke the pyschological ( and physical ) barrier of 140.
I am VERY pleased that the "cleanse " is over. I had always wanted to try one and this being just 5 days seemed reasonable- we ate these high fibre/protein shakes 3 times a day along with certain snacks- for instance 6 almonds:eek: I thought that was a joke- 6? only 6!
I did manage to exercise but not at the same intensity level as I didn't think I was getting enough calories to "put out":p so to speak. I ended up just eating more of the allowed snacks- definitely more than 6 almonds:)
Sunday swim 2000m
Tuesday Run 45 min
Wed Spin 1 hr - I tried evil troy workout but it was tooo hard this week
Sat Long Slooooow run 2 hrs.
In the end I am glad I lost the 3 lbs but won't be tempted to try a "clease" again- I like to actually have food in my mouth to chew.
Hope everyone else had a good week.

Yay Pika! I totally understand about those "barriers" I remember well trying to get under 140, then under 130. Now I'm trying hard to get under 120.
I'm 122.1 this morning, exactly the same as last Sunday. I find it interesting that I was able to lose 2-3 lbs a week when I first started dieting, but then after the first 20 lbs, it is only coming off in ounces. Oh well, keep trying, at least it's coming off.
I did really well with my strength exercises this week. It's the one area that I have found SO hard to be consistent. I seem to have found a routine that works for me and I can almost always find time to do it. I had a bit of trouble after the first 3 days because I totally overdid it and had to spend a few extra days "recovering" but I think I'm ok now. :D My shoulder is still tender so I'm finally going to pop in to see my doctor today and find out about my trouble spots. Is it age or can I do something about it? We'll see...

That sounds nasty. Especially the no coffee bit. I'm glad you're getting down there, I know how you've been trying.
I haven't weighed in this week. But on Friday I was a lovely 141 lbs. My official weigh in is on Tues. This is a rest week sooooo, I'm not sure I lose much. Plus I wasn't able to get in any of my long slow distance workouts this weekend.

The no coffee was the worst- I did have the dull headache asociated with the withdrawl from caffeine- and I really only have a latte daily, the headache was gone by wednesday but I was still craving coffee- you know the very first thing I did Saturday morning was get up and make a nice large latte for dh and myself. Funny thing is DH didn't get any withdrawl symptoms at all and he drinks way more coffee than me! weird:confused:
We both did feel really good after our long run on Saturday too- way better than the week before and it was a shorter run- not sure if I should contribute that to the caffeine boost or the "cleanse"- I leaning toward the caffeine:D
