the day was nice and sunny and 70 degrees F at 7am. the Catch: we had Santa Ana winds (Nothing like pedaling into 25 mph gusts:rolleyes: ) We were trying a new format for our Saturday ride, and for once I wasn't the leader! Well, I rolled into the parking lot at Henry's/Wild Oats and the club president and his wife rolled into the parking lot on their tandem, They were going to be leading the short loop. The only issues was that the had noticed that their fork was cracked and were still planning on riding:eek: . We talked them out of it, and I would putting on my ride leader's helmet. The ride went fine, we did some climbing, and had to regroup for the newbies. El Presidente and his senora caught up to us. They had gone back and got their single bikes. It was downhill most of the way back. Some Tandems got ahead of me and made a wrong turn -they got back- but with less mileage. we all had Mexican food for lunch, and got some Fair Trade coffee from Henry's and head home via the scenic route. Wound up with 51 miles:)

I got out for another outdoor ride today. Not as warm as yesterday (6 celcius) but it was sunny. Did 31 km before my toes, fingers, and sweaty back were cold. Hit the hills - my legs feel it now... :) Can't wait till they clean the roads and I can take my road bike out...
I moved up to 44th place in the BJ race. Slowly moving up, won't ever catch the leaders though...

I rode 27 miles with out falling.whoooooooooooo woooooooooooo I had my knee taped up with thick cotton, just incase. I dont think my body can take anymore falls on the hard road. Im feeling better on the bike ,but I think I need a new saddle....after about 15 miles it just dosent feel right. I did OK on the stock saddle on the hybrid though. Ill have to read through the saddle thread.

Good for you, Suzie!!
Today was my first 'o-fi-shal' outdoor ride. Yes, I did ride outdoors with Suzie and Darcy a few weeks ago, but that was only a few miles. Today I did 18.70 miles with an average of 12.9. Not too bad for my first time out! I've been on the trainer an hour a day for the last 2 weeks, so it was good to get outside. Although, my average on the trainer is around 17.5 (mag trainier, medium resistance), it's kind of a bummer to see the 12.9. LOL!

An hour a day on the trainer for two weeks?!?!
You ROCK, girl! I am humbled in your presence! :D
~Emily, who can only manage two 45-minute trainer rides per week (I do other stuff too, but that's all of the trainer I can take!)

wow, I couldn't do an hour on a trainer either. and EVERY DAY? I do every other day and consistently do 12mph on the stupid thing..
We rode about 27 miles from Logboom to Red hook and then to Marymoor park and back.
It was absolutely gorgeous in the morning, warm, sunny, and then the clouds started whisping across the sky, suddenlly it was windy and cold and we rode as fast as we could (okay, as fast as I could) and got back to the car around 530pm.
another 2 hours later, it was raining hard.
we all got to know each other better; attending the ride were Trek, Knottedyet, Kitsune, Salsabike, Mimi and Eden; attending lunch were also Quillfred and Java ( a new person )
Now I am beat
good night.

Just a PS to Mimi's post--that ride was about 27 miles. And it was a lot of fun.

very, very beautiful second ride of the year. We need to get out a couple times before Mallorca in early March (last year was a cold start - not good).
We indulged in some cool cold weather gear (bl@@dy expensive but we got a discount for being good returning customers) and started out in 5 degrees. Once we got to the sunnier parts it was up to 11. beautiful. Took a little rest on the sunny lakeshore...
Total riding time 2h and on my favorite hill (not too too steep) I am now down one gear from the granny gear.
My favorite cool gear, with the price tag that comes with cool, is http://www.zerorh.com/

Saturday was our first official training ride for the Shiner BASH ride here in Texas with Team in Training. A group of just over 60 people broken down into smaller groups. Which is good because I was nervous to ride in a big group. But it turned out just fine. I had no wobble starts and consistant speed.
We rode at Memorial Park which has a nice smooth bike road with no cars. Thank goodness. We went 20 miles! My furthest yet! Yippee!! I am very proud of that! And it felt good too! My mentor says it is because I ride during the week too on smaller rides or trainer.
Last week I did over 6 miles at the local park on Tues. and then about 5 miles on the trainer Thurs. because I got home late. I am sweating buckets at the end. I would much rather be outside on the road.
Weather was really nice! started at about 43 degrees and ended up at about 65 degrees with sunny clear blue skies. My favorite weather!
And kudos to you Oxysback for being able to do an hour a day on the trainer! Wow! Rock on with your bad self! :)
Have a great week everyone!

Eastern Oregon was fantastic on Saturday. The high reached 74! We took the river road from Pendleton to Echo--50 miles round trip. Had lunch at a new and really good deli/cafe in the town of Echo (maybe 300 people in the town.) We all had to pick bugs out of our teeth at the end of the ride from all the big, wide smiles.
We're supposed to reach the 40's this week. My wimpy self won't go outside til it's above 40. I really gott get on the trainer...I hate that thing!!!

Here's my post from the Ca. forum. It's not a full ride report, but I'm still too lazy to write it up...lol. :p
I started with the early group at 5:30 and by the time I left the first rest stop at mile 38, my friend George who started at 6:15, had caught me. I was leaving as he was coming in, but he caught me again a couple of miles later and I thought I would try to hang with him for awhile. Well, my "awhile" turned into the entire day...he was on a fixed gear but still had to slow his pace a bit for me and I was so appreciative. He caught my overheating before I did and made me pull off and dunk my head under a faucet and really took care of me all day. He was there to talk me through the lulls and assure me that I would recover and get my game back. :) Of course, I had to give him crap since he talked me into Butterfield saying "you want to get doubles in early during the season when it's cold because once it heats up, everything changes"...lol...it was SO HOT and windy yesterday! :p
So...having him there made all the difference in the world. I was able to finish in 14:25...totally exhausted and ready to SLEEP! :)
Oh...and my view for the day. I was NOT complaining. :p

I got a good ride in saturday too. Since it was cold and windy, we met a 2pm and the high was 50 ish and sunny. We went anyway. Me and another friend named Becky, we rode the 17 mi route since I was still a newbie on a road bike, she kept me going :) I got my cycle computer and somehow bumped a button and did everything in km that day:rolleyes:
I did about 10 miles and was trying to stop and already had my left foot unclipped, but I was too busy getting my right one so I can put both feet down and of course too much weight and down I went :p I hit my right knee and scraped it, it's sore b/c I have bony knees, but It'll be fine in a few days. I bent the leaver on the right side but bent it back. On the first 2 roads we actually had a tailwind, while the guys chose the 35 mi route w/ headwind all the way. All in all a great day. I was happy to be out and the roads were nice too. Jennifer
