Who's going to Bike Expo? Our Century Ride of the Centuries (CROC) will be there in a booth. If any of y'all are there, come by. I'd love to meet you. And I want to talk you into coming to our ride in Pendleton during Memorial Day Week-end. It's a fun and cheap 3 day ride.

Wonderful--we'll have to find each other. I'm so glad that it's later this year. I absolutely froze last year even though I wore long underwear, a turtleneck, bike jersey, fleece jacket, and a heavy wool long coat over the whole ensemble! I kept my gloves on the entire day, too.

yes, I remember the "weather" in there, it was REALLY cold. I was prepared but like you, wore gloves and hat all day long. I'll find you ;)

We're going on sunday! I've never been but there are so many things we need (or need info on) that I think it would be a great experience.

I'll be wearing my black Amici Veloci buff on my head pirate-style. If you see me, stop me and say "Hi"! Maybe I'll wear my screaming yellow Canari "BioSwelter" jacket for greater visibility...

I'll probably be drawn like a butterfly to the Ibex booth, and gazing longingly at any tandems I can find.

(uh, that's assuming Ibex is there again this year)

(and did you catch my subtle critique of Canari's BioVent fabric? Didja? Huh? Huh?) :D

Well, Knot if you're there Sunday morning, be sure to come by the RCC
booth, so you can meet the Raleighdon.

I am going to try to make it on Sunday (probably as soon as it opens at 10.00 a.m.), so I will hope to meet everyone at last!

I'm hesitant to post this since I may not be able to make it, but is there any interest in a ~20 mile social ride from the expo? I know the venue is near the BG trail. I'm looking for interest and someone to lead the ride, since I couldn't find the trail, even if it's wearing a screaming yellow Canari "BioSwelter" jacket :p . And once found, wouldn't know where to go on it.
We could meet by the bike lockup sometime and just go for a casual ride?

I will have my Delightfully Polite and Mature Teenager (snort!) with me that weekend, so won't be able to ride. Darn!!!! Otherwise I'd be all *over* this opportunity!!!:)

Hey, good idea about wearing the buffs! I'll have my red one on probably as a turtleneck.

Not sure which day we'll be there--heck, we may go both days. Will keep our eyes peeled for buffs of the AV sort, that is.

Mimi, didn't get a chance to visit with you at Redhook, so I must make amends. Perhaps you'll be be kind enough to show me the difference between merry, marry, and mary? :p

Yes, Mary, I would be most happy to do that. You know where to find me. We'll be having a merry time.

So, will we be wandering around the Expo, shouting "Amici Veloci my azz!" at full volume toward complete strangers (who might just accidentally be wearing a red turtleneck which looks a bit like a buff, etc...)?

This could be fun!!!:D

Knot, that would embarrass your DS!
poor kid, I can see him quivering and red with embarrassment. Oh gosh,
my younger son used to walk 50 feet in front of us when we had to take him places!

I hope to be ther on Sunday. I will bring along my camera! :D I am so excited about finally meeting many of you gals! And what's with this dang weather? I want to start putting massive miles on my road bike but so far the weather has been un co-operative. And in two weeks we go to day light savings time! Three weeks early this year! After work rides will begin soon! Joy, jubilation, happy dance :p

And here is a picture of me and Bob Roll taken at the 2005 Bike Expo!
Hubby caught me unprepared when he snapped this one. I had a sort of weird expression on my face. Oh well . . .

LOL :p Yes, it looks like he caught us both unprepared! Bobke came in on a motorcycle if I remember correctly. And when he took his helmet off he did not "fix" his hair! He is a very nice man. I really enjoyed meeting him and chatting with him. It was the highlight of my 2005 Bike Expo!

I was already planning on going to the expo on Saturday, because I can't wait! I went for the first time last year and had such a good time. Sounds like many of you will be there on Sunday, and it would be fun to meet you in person. I may just go both days because the weekend pass is a deal, and just because!

Only one week until the Bike Expo! I found a floor plan of the bike expo booths and marked CROC (Century Ride of the Centuries booth #230) and RCC (Redmond Cycling Club booth #421). I told my hubby we were going this year and he replied, "We are?" Silly guy! :p

I got it from Cascade Bicycle Club's web page . . .

http://www.cascade.org/EandR/expo/floorplan/exhibitor_floorplan.cfm

just click on the map to see a larger view. I just right clicked and saved it to my computer then added the booth info. There was a link to the floor plan from the exhibotor's page

I'm excited about going this year. :D

I have one double bed sized futon. Anything else would be a lot less comfy.
Sunday morning, meeting for breakfast with bike club at 830 and then we ride
about 7 miles to the Bike Expo.

Meet for b'fast and ride to the Expo - I'm so up for that next year! The ride would be 1/2 the fun, and wouldn't have to deal with parking issues at the event.
Have fun those of you who are going this year.

Is there going to be bike parking at the expo? Might be worth riding if the weather obliges. I'm not 100% sure where it is but will mapquest - we're going on sunday.

yes, there is a bike corral and there is an attendant who stands guard.
