Okay so I'm not the only Tri obsessed girl at work Today we were both bombarded in the lunch room by these statements which we had a good laugh at.

YOU KNOW YOU'VE BECOME TRI OBSESSED WHEN
1: You wear you heart rate monitor on your work commute and check to see what it's doing throughout the day
2: You ride home in the rain because you're used to "swim, ride" training and don't really notice the difference wearing wet lycra
3: You scoff at people who say "take the bus" when it's SOOOOO much easier to ride there
4: You do your run training as you deliver paperwork to other parts of the hospital
5: You use a PEDOMETER or ACCELOROMETER to measure the distance taken above
6: You carbo load on your lunch break when everyone else is dieting to be "bikinitastic"

Feel free to ADD to this list if you've been bombarded as well.

Or when the people in your life know whether you are on a hard week or an easy week.....including my students.....

Or when people say, "what did you do this weekend?" and then go..."oh that is right, training."

Or when the spare bedromm becomes a "transition room" with a running pile of clothes, a cycling pile of clothes, and a swim bag.....

Funny! I'll add....

or when you have 5 bikes in the living room, because they "add a personal touch" to the decor- and because it' s the most practical place to be

or when my mom constantly asks- what are you training for now sweetie?

or when the space in my closet has significantly changed from being a "work wardrobe" to a "tri wardrobe". My poor work wardrobe consists now of 3 kinds of black pants and about a dozen nice tops. Oh well, lots of professionals wear suits- it's sorta the same.... (ok, not really, but my job is pretty relaxed- too bad I'm trying to find a new one).

or when I consider distances in the amount of time it would take me to ride there- even if I'm driving

...when you turn down a night out with friends because you don't want to miss your twice-weekly swim class

...or happy hour after work because you are supposed to run

... or you go on vacation up to the mountains and you bring your shoes 'just incase' you wake up earlier then everyone else and have time for a run

:)

:)

When you go on vacation (or to visit relatives, etc) and you bring your shoes because you plan to get up early and go for a run ;) (been there, done that, will do it again )

When you drive out of your way on the way home to see if the roads or paths are clear enough for a run the next morning.

When one event is no longer enough for a daily workout.

When your sweetie wants to go away for the weekend and your first thought is of how it will disrupt your training plans.

My life resembles all of these comments:

When you turn down a night out with friends because you don't want to miss a workout....or happy hour after work because you are supposed to run

I will also add:

You workout 6-7 days a week.

You bore your friends who don't "get it" with stories of training and dreams of doing an Ironman- and you try to convince them they really want to travel across 2 states to support you!

You would rather buy a bike than go on an Italian vacation.

You have 2 bikes... and people who don't "get it" can't figure out WHY you need a tri bike AND a road bike... no matter how many times you try to explain it.

You belong to a tri club, a cycling club, 2 gyms AND you have a tri coach.

:D

I resemble all of those comments and will add:

- You do laundry a minimum of 3 times per week just to keep up with the workout clothes

- On family holidays your relatives know enough to ask when you're going to be done training before they plan a group outing.

- You can't get out of a grocery store for under $50 and you go at least every other day

- You start taking your resting HR every morning

I love these so much!

-If your 'workout' clothes take up 1/2 of your drawer space (and are starting to spill over to the floor/nearby endtable, etc.)

-If you eat more for lunch than any of the people in your department, and you weigh less than any of them! :) (since I started training, I have needed to eat 2-3 small meals at work every day just to get through the day. At one point I was starting to feel like Emilio Estevez from Breakfast club, only with healthier food!)

:D Keep making me laugh, gals!

you come to work with wet hair and goggle marks and your co worker automaticallty asks how many gazillion laps you did this morning.

You tell your friends that you are going to the "race" in nor cal this weekend and they assume you are doing it!! - Tour de california... :D Yeah, I'm racing it!!! ha ha

If you run less than 4 miles you feel like a slacker

If you don't do a transition run off the bike you REALLY feel like a slacker.

You schedule your life around training. PERIOD!! ;)

You get all excited because you find an energy drink that you can have custom formulated for your needs (infinit nutrition) and you obsess to your co worker all day about how COOL that is.

You have your races planned for the next year, and you don't even know what your making for dinner tonight.

You know the exact gps coordinates and mileage for every block, route or road in your neighborhood by heart.
