Jaggad Solrace L/S Cycling Jersey (UPF 40)

I'm looking for long sleeve jerseys with sun protection for this summer. I've read all the old threads on the topic of l/s jerseys for summer, but I have yet to see a review of the Jaggad jersey. Here's a link:

It looks more form-fitting than Solumbra's unisex cycling jersey.

I'd love some feedback from those who have worn the Jaggad or Solumbra jerseys.

I get the feeling that Solumbra's is made with their woven fabric, rather than a knit. Usually their "4-way stretch" fabric is noted in the description.

I have a woven Kokatat spf shirt which I wear when it's too hot for my long sleeve wool shirt. It does flap in the wind a good bit...

If I were in the market for a new spf shirt, I think I'd get the one you're looking at, the Jaggad. It looks good!

Thanks, Knot. I suspect you're right about the Solumbra top. The one thing that keeps drawing me to it, however, is that I am sure the quality is top notch. I have a couple of Solumbra tops and I basically live in them all summer (along with my convertible pants from REI). I'm concerned that the unisex fit won't be comfortable, though.

Trek, I've been eyeing the same Shebeest top! I would like to know the difference between Microwic UV and Microwic UV+. I looked on the Shebeest website and all it had was the UV+. If the l/s top (UV) was made from the same fabric as this s/s top (UV+), I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I have the s/s version and it fits and looks great. It would be cool enough for summer even if it had long sleeves.

Hi Alex,
I have the solrace jersey in pink and love it. It might be a slightly different model though as mine doesn;t zip all the way down. I must confess that I haven't been riding much this summer as it has been just TOO hot.
I must say that I went up a size as it is really fine material that is close fitting. You either know what I am alluding to or you don't have the problem;) .

Thanks, everyone! For those of you who have worn the Jaggad jersey, how much did you size up? I'm a medium in everything because my arms are long. Would a large be too huge? I've read that looser clothes are better for sun protection.

Did anyone buy that Shebeest jersey from Sierra Trading Post yet? I have a short sleeve Shebeest Microwic UV+ jersey that I bought from STP and I really like it. If I was sure the fabric was the same, I would definitely buy the L/S one, too.

BTW, TE is supposed to be getting some lightweight l/s jerseys in March. I haven't yet heard what UPF they are, though.

I love my solrace longsleeve Jaggard jersey. Sizing is a big problem for me, I never fit in any charts. Normaly I have small, but for Jaggard I got a medium and fits perfect...

I went one size up. If you are thin and don't have a little roll around your middle like I do, you might even just go for your propper size.The man in the shop said that they are designed to be close fitting because of the wicking properties of the material. But as I said, the medium on me left nothing to the imagination, so I went up to large and it is fine.

DH has the Solumbra cycling jersey - KnottedYet is correct - it is made out of their woven material and is not fitted. DH sweats like crazy and this jersey has no wicking properties whatsoever. He was soaked after his ride. No sunburn after two hours though, so the sun-protective part works. Also, the jersey "flaps in the wind" as it is not at all fitted. Not worth the expense, IMO.

Check out Boure. I LOVE their long-sleeve SPF 50 jersey! I am 5'2" and weigh under 100 pounds. I got the x-small and it fits just right, however not much room to grow and I'm trying to gain a few. www.boure.com

I just picked up one of REI's SPF 50 lightweight MTS long-sleeve zip-t's (http://www.rei.com/product/705491?vcat=REI_SEARCH). I'm going to try wearing it under a non-spf short-sleeve jersey and see how that works. It may be too warm wearing two layers, but I'd love it if it works. That way I could transform any of my short-sleeve or sleeveless tops into SPF 50 wear by laying the long-sleeve underneath!
