Wandering wallaby captured in California suburb

The Associated Press
Published: February 6, 2007

FONTANA, California: A wandering wallaby was captured Tuesday after hopping into a backyard in this San Bernardino County suburb about 50 miles (80 kilometers) east of Los Angeles, authorities said.

Someone called police at about 8:30 a.m. and said, "Hey, there's a kangaroo jumping down our street," Sgt. Doug Wagner said.

The 3-foot-tall (1-meter) marsupial was captured in a backyard by county animal control officers who grabbed it by the tail. Wagner said it appeared to have been domesticated and did not put up a fight.

And I've actually cycled by where the poor thing was nabbed by the Fontana PD (right next door to Sandy Place Ranch;) ) Maybe it was trying to get the Outback Steakhouse at Ontario Mills....

I saw the live capture. The poor thing put up QUITE a strong fight! Kicking away. It stopped for a minute and they put a cloth bag over it's head. THEN it stopped fighting.
