Winter jacket advice

Hi ladies!

I am wondering if I really need to invest in a good winter jacket or is layering enough? I normally ride the trainer in winter, but it seems I will be riding a lot more, and it gets boring. I don't have any winter bike gear so I need advice on what is good to have. I saw that there are Goretex type jackets. Also any recommendations on gloves? Thanks!

Although I admit there is a point where it gets too cold out for me, I have a good rain jacket (Novarra) which I use as the wind layer, then layer up underneath.

Thanks for the link! It was informative. I think I will stick to the jacket I have, and just add layers.
