My weight didn't budge all week. 124 lb. I kept my calories low but unless I exercise, nothing happens. I had meetings and long days all week so just couldn't seem to fit in the trainer. Next week we have parent-teacher interviews but I might be able to do at least one workout this weekend, and maybe again on Wednesday. I really want to lose 5 more lbs before I get married in 6 weeks. I should be able to do it - if only the weather would change and I could ride outside...

A little over two pounds lost this week, but it's getting tougher. I exercised like crazy, but schedules were screwy and disciplined behaviour was tough. In any event, it was a good week. I'm an "instant gratification", so progress in ounces/day is tough to swallow when I know I could take the unhealthy route and drop pounds.

Kelownagirl, remember that on your wedding day, your beauty will glow from within, regardless of your weight. Take it one day at a time and enjoy the big day when it arrives.:) :) :)

I guess my fat cells are finally deciding to give in under the pressure of IM training afterall. :D
But I must say I've been working really hard all week to keep my face out of the office candy jar. It's crazy hard when I get stressed too. But I'm really working on changing the way I look at food. It's a big mental change for me, but I'm determined to make it. sigh... Nothing comes easy does it??

No it sure doesn't come easy. :) I found I dropped the first 15 lbs pretty easily but these last ten are much tougher. Maybe it's because I've been carrying it for the last 15 years.

Mr. S. - you're quite right, and I'm not going to stress about it either. In fact, I'm quite content and happy with my current weight. I would just like to lose the last ten to see if it makes any difference in my cycling next summer. That being said, it would be nice to look awesome in March too. :D

Congrats to everyone. Every ounce counts! I was down to 123.6 this morning. Only .2 loss from last week, but it made me feel better.

I'm frustrated. I weighed myself midweek and had lost 1 pound so I was expecting to see another pound lost. I worked my A$$ off this week with my workouts and my only splurge was a 140 calorie hot chocolate. And I ended up the week with a one pound GAIN:eek: I know I'm building muscle right now but come on - I've never gone 4 weeks of eating so well and working out 4-6 times a week and only lost 4 pounds. Grrrrrr.

Not a gram. Nay, I am up again although a pair of jeans came out of long-term storage at the bottom of the pile.

Perhaps an entire week's cycling in March will help but geez, I thought it was working.

Dar, Alpine, I'm right there with ya. I'm counting my losses in tenths of a pound right now. And that's over a week. I go up and down all week but HOPEFULLY, I've lost a LITTLE bit by the weekend. I know I'm not losing because I'm not exercising. I hope that will change when I can get on my bike again.

If your pants are fitting better you're probably losing fat but storing more glycogen in your muscles. For every gram of glycogen we store we have to also store a gram of water. So the weight will go up, even if you're not putting on muscle.

I haven't weighed myself this week, but I don't think it will be good. I had a rest week last week and I ate like a pig all weekend, drank too. Oh well.

Ugh, to be honest, I haven't weighed myself. I did terrible on my diet and I'm at the point where it's hard to lose weight, so I'm expecting to see and gain and well, I just don't want to see it. I'll weigh myself tomorrow, I need to know and I guess seeing an increase will help with motivation.

The weekends are killing me! I do really well throughout the week on my diet, but once the weekend hits, it's tough. I need to get out of the house because I'll graze on crap. Also, I find it rough when peolpe ask DH and I out to dinner. It's hard to order appropriate meals.

Dar,
A pound a week is a very sensible weight loss plan if you hope to keep the weight off for the long haul. And yes, building muscle will make the scale read a heavier number.

Be kind to yourself. How do you feel about you? (no need to answer, just something to think about). The number on the scale is just that, a number. If you came to my house and weighed yourself the number would be different.

Ummmm. Maybe try to focus on your measurements for a month and how your feel, and ignore the scale? I lost 60+ overall inches and I would have gone insane had I just looked at the scale number. At one point I just moved my scale out of site. I think as a culture we all can at times get too caught up with a number.

Just rambling thoughts. Ignore at will. :)

Actually down 4 this week. Very surprising since I have been sick and haven't exercised since Thursday. I have been slammed with the bronchial crud that is prevalent in the schools - another reason to have kids.

Hopefully I can exercise again tomorrow - head is too heavy today.

I think this is very good point. Currently, I only stand on the scale. I sort of wish I measured my hips, waist, chest, etc before starting my diet so I could see the inches lost, not just pounds.

I did all my measurements before I started and was amazed at how many inches I lost. It was dfeinitely a huge motivator. Went from a size 10 to a 6. Sadly, I'm not losing pounds or inches now.

down by 0.2 pounds since last week, 2.4 since I started Jan 1. Fat %age down from 29.1 last week to 28.4 this weekend. Muscle mass up from 90.2 pounds to 91 pounds. And, myfavourite, metabolic age down to 30, from a high of 33 in the last 5 weeks. Wahoo!

Inches are not spectacular, down 2.27 combined since starting Jan 1....

According to DH I am looking better though. Not sure if it's the drugs, the friendly bacteria supplements, the crazy restricted diet, the pretty good exercise level....but he says the loompa (as in oompa) that is my bloated belly, is getting smaller, less loompy. Yay!

Yes, it's hard to stay motivated all the time. I stick to my own rules. Only use the scale once a week. Don't cheat the night before. All conditions the same each week....at least it's consistent that way.

Keep it going, ladies, and Mr. S., you're doing fabulously!!

Hugs and butterflies,
~T~

Well, I did the weigh in this morning and I'm down 0.8 pounds. Please note, I waited until I did a really good workout to weigh myself. I didn't step on the scale on monday, but I'm happy with today's results.

Hang in there, Dar.

Muscle is a good thing! If it were all about the scale, I'd be having fits. I gained 6-7 pounds in the last three months, even while doing 10-11 hours of cardio a week... and my clothes are definitely getting baggier. Best of all, a girl came up to me after spin class last week (I hadn't seen her in a few months) and she said, "Dang! Your legs are firm!"

Rock on with yo' bad self! :D

Thanks BMo3 and Bluetree. I took my measurements 2 weeks ago and was down 5 inches so I know I'm making progress. It always comes off my upper body first. I am in the same size pants but the waist is not tight. My chiro did tell me he could see it in my face - my cheekbones are more pronouced. I will keep on with my bad self but I need to see that darn scale move soon!

I'm getting there slowly...I weighed 64.5kg at my weigh in & am quite happy with the way my body shape is heading. My togs(swimsuit) fit!!!

It's been a struggle even with eating the right foods etc. but i'll get to my goal of 60kg..no matter how hard it might be.
