I'm considering replacing the stock saddle on my trek1000. It's not critical because I don't find it uncomfortable and the color matches my bike. I'm thinking about it because I read so much about how uncomfortable stock saddles are. I figure if I think this one is ok, a good one will be amazing.
I don't want anything wide or squishy. So, that being said, what say you all?

I am not sure I would change if the saddle is not uncomfortable. I did a similar thing on my old bike & wound up with a saddle that was MORE uncomfortable than my stock one. Turns out the bike didn't fit and that was the problem - not the saddle. I now have a very firm saddle (can't recall the brand & I'm at my office right now so I can't look - sorry!) & love it.
Good luck!

If only it worked like that! If your saddle is not uncomfortable then I would be tempted to leave it be until it wears out or does become uncomfortable.
Stock saddles (in fact all saddles) are uncomfortable for some people but not others. Saddles are very personal things and it can take quite a while to find your perfect saddle. I've gone through several saddles (a couple of them quite expensive) before I found one I could really live with.

I'm afraid it doesn't work that way. Replacing a stock saddle because it came with the bike doesn't make it better, it just makes it different. If you are not having a problem, you might develop one. Read through the saddle postings & you'll come across a lot of desperate attempts to fix serious pain-inflicting issues.
Not all stock saddles are junk. I've seen bikes come factory-equipped with a very good saddle. So if it ain't broke, why try to fix it? Wait until you have a problem & then address that specific issue. Enjoy your ride & just think, if you're riding in reasonable comfort, you are the envy of a lot of riders out there.

You might be one of those lucky people whose body and riding style actually *matches* the stock saddle!
If you aren't uncomfortable, don't change it yet.

I agree with everyone who says not to change your saddle if what you have is working for you! Saddles are such a hard thing to "fix" at first -- too many choices, too many styles, and WAY too many ways to pick the wrong type! Then, once you find one you like, ride it until you just can't ride it any more and you need to replace it -- they don't make it anymore! Saddles are a never-ending battle!
Of course if you REALLY REALLY want a new saddle, Terry and Selle Italia would be good places to start ... you may want to do a search on saddles (lots of info and opinions, just to confuse you! LOL). :D

I agree with what everyone else has said -- if you're happy with your current saddle, then unless you have a lot of $ to throw around experimenting, stick with it. However, if you do want to read about some saddles that those of us on TE like, see the "Favorite Saddles (http://forums.teamestrogen.com/forumdisplay.php?f=36)" forum!
