I got a Camelbak Dream for Christmas and I've been having a real problem getting the "lid" unscrewed once it is in. I'm not the Hulk or anything, so I don't think that I am screwing it in THAT tight. Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions?

YES. It's a common problem... right now I can't remember the solutions... I know I've tried things like running warm water over everything to get everything to swell up but I don't remember if it worked... do I get a prize for the MOST USELESS answer to a post :)???

I have the same problem. I think it is caused because as you draw the water through, it creates a vacum. I have not tried this, but try blowing back through the hose. Maybe it will break the vacum?????

We were discussing this on our ride yesterday - the vacuum is definitely the culprit and it can be a real struggle to get the lid off. Blowing back through helps a little.
One of the guys says he smears a tiny bit of vaseline around the threads of the lid and this means it lubes it and it releases easily. I haven't tried it yet but I will at some point this week.

The key is to set the Camelback down flat. Do not try to open the lid while holding the Camelback up. On a flat surface for some reason the lid will open easier.

Doesn't vaseline break down the plastic/rubber? I've heard that can be a problem.

No idea - he's been doing it for a while and hasn't mentioned that its destroying anything (he's usually quite clued up about that sort of thing). I did wonder that myself.
I did smear some round the edges of the lid before last nights ride, however I got back quite late and haven't tried to empty the bladder yet, I'll let you know if its any easier.

I usually lay mine flat on the counter and pinch the tube while trying to unscrew the lid. Seems to make it easier.....

The vaseline seemed to make it worse not better! Either that or I did it up really tight this time
