I was over on the TNO (tri newbies online) site tonight and I came across this:

ShaneBernier is a 7 year old cancerpatient at Lancaster hospital in Ontario and he has a wish. Although he's lost allof his hair, Shane's brightsmile and cheery personality have made hima hit with the staff. Inspite of all he's experienced & everythinghe's yet to face, hiswish is the kind only a sweet innocent wouldthink of.

For his 8th birthday, Shane would like to break a record; simply to become the person who has received the most birthday cards.

My card is on the way. If you'd like to help Shane's birthday wish come true, please send him a card at:

Shane Bernier
P.O. Box 484
Lancaster ON
CANADA
KOC 1NO

I just know what generous caring people we have over here so I thought I would pass this on.
BTW- There were some skeptical folks on TNO, so they did some searches and this appears to be legit.
I for one will be sending a card.
Also see the link to the radio station helping get the word out:

So I don't know what ya'll think, but personally I think he's cute as a button! I'll be sending him a card FOR SURE!!

It said on the link May 30th, so we have plenty of time. It also said he likes Legos, so I may try to make a card and incorporate some legos in it. God knows my sone has PLENTY to spare!!!

I don't want to sound heartless but there are many hoaxes of this type around the net. This one sounds genuine though, so go ahead....

Like I said in my post, the folks on TNO were skeptical. They even put it to the "snopes" test. Also if you look at the website it seems legit. Even a radio station is on board. Unless of course BOTH of those websites are fake?? But I couldn't imagine someone going to that much trouble just for some birthday cards??

Would a 7 year old know or care about such things? I think even if he doesn't break any records, receiving sacks of mail will impress him.
On the other hand, imagine how stressed out and hassled families are who have sick kids.. What are they going to do with a million bd cards?
