I was planning to do a longer ride today, but DH is sick (food poisoning?) and I didn't want to get too far from home. I also didn't want to have any issues miles from home with nobody to come save me.:)
So I did a flat 13 mile ride close to my house. Tomorrow maybe more miles and hills.

Hey, I did 13 miles today too! :)
It's been too cold recently, and I've just recovered from a week long stomach flu. But it got up to 32F today and I did a 13 mile ride on nice dry roads, and I stayed warm. It was snowing during my ride, very pretty big fluffy flakes like a picture postcard. Lucky for me it didn't stick on the road. The 13 miles was enough for me today, still not completely feeling up to par yet. After 2 weeks off my bike, my thighs are sore from the hills! Supposed to get way colder again now for the next few days, in the teens. I also walked 3 miles early this morning which felt nice.

I did 17 hilly miles at lunch today. I tried to push it a little and I got it done in just barely under a hour, despite the wind! It felt good to sweat a little, even if it was mostly just under my jacket. ;)
At one point on a long flat, I was buzzing along at about 21 mph when a construction truck full of sand pulled out in front of me (presumably so that he wouldn't then have to pass me later). It sucked because as he was 'gunning it' to beat me and get up to speed, sand was bouncing off the back of the truck and sticking to my face and chapstick! Ewww! I was trying to spit and not sniffle as the air I was riding through filled with dust. I was super gritty by the time I got back to the office...luckily, no one saw me up close until after I'd showered! Blowing my nose was both a HUGE relief and a bit disgusting. :p

I did my 8 mile commute today, and it was LOVELY! Great weather, and it felt so good to be back on the bike!
I just got over a stomach bug, so 8 miles was enough.
Plus, I was on the Commutermobile for the first time in ages, and she's got flat pedals and a non-Brooks saddle now. It was very disconcerting riding on flat pedals! It almost felt dangerous! Certainly insecure and less control over the bike. By the time I was almost home from work I'd almost gotten adjusted to the flat pedals.
Oh, it was SOOOO good to ride! I'm a much nicer person now.
