No one else has started it, so I will. It's motivation for me knowing I'll post my progress on a forum.

So, this past week, I lost 2 pounds. Not as good as the previous week, but I didn't expect it to be and I blew my healthy eating diet over the weekend. I was just glad to stand on the scale and see I lost something.

I have a feeling next week's results aren't going to be great. I'm back at the weight I've maintained for about a year now, so I know getting off the extra few pounds is going to take motivation. I really need to start working out more. Last week I had 4 rides planned and only did 2 :(

Good job Salsa! Don't feel bad about missing some rides. I didn't workout the last 3 days because I felt like crap - really tired and worn out so I slept. I"ll be back at it tonight.

I gained 1 pound. Expected. AF is showing up soon so I guess it's water weight. I will certainly expect a loss next week!

I just don't know. I was down one pound on Saturday but today on my official weigh-in day, I was back up to my regular weight. I have been eating more conscientiously for almost 2 weeks and have very little to show for it. Last fall, I lost an average of 1-1/2 lbs a week. Anyway, I got back on the trainer yesterday and will force myself to ride again tomorrow and Thursday. See if more cardio will make a difference.

Dh and I started a friendly weight-loss competition this month. Every morning in February that he is over 180, he has to give me a 30 minute back massage that night. If I go over 124 any morning, I do the same for him. I must say I am tempted to make delicious fattening meals all month and then eat lean cuissine myself. :D

Well, I'm back down to where I was before the holiday and a couple of bouts with a bug...

I've recently started reading 'Taming the Feast Beast' and it's very, very enlightening for me. I'm one of those people who knows what I should be eating to be healthy and yet I just don't do it like I should. I have resisted 'getting back on track' a lot in the past year and a half. This book is really helping me see the difference between my 'feast beast' whining about wanting to eat totally unnecessary crap and my rational brain knowing what foods are best for both my performance and my well-being. By turning my 'feast beast' into a separate entity in my head, I can fight it. For example, when I see something yummy at the coffee shop and I'm tempted to buy it, I think to myself "shut it, beast". "Ha, ha on you...you don't have arms and you can't eat that treat if I don't want you to" "Get lost!". It works! I know it sounds crazy, but I've been successful for a week and all my post-holiday bloat is gone. I can't wait to see what the next week will hold for me.

Anyway, just thought I'd mention it for anyone else struggling with the eating part of being healthy/losing weight. :)

Maybe I need to get this book. I didn't do so well and turning off the feast beast this morning. I haven't gone grocery shopping this week so I'm scrapping meals together instead of my planned meals. For breakfast, I made oatmeal and decided to add just a tad of brown sugar. Well, just a tad in my oatmeal turned into an entire teaspoon full in my mouth. Ugh....I am such a sugar addict. I was fighting the addiction pretty well for a couple weeks, but the past few days I gave in.

Quitting sugar has been hardest thing I've ever tried to do. I think I need to discover the feast beast.

143.2 lbs this AM. That's 1.8 lbs down. This thread is a great idea. It's forcing me to keep track of my progress. I want to see my weight drop below 140 so bad that I felt disappointed that I was 143.2. You folk made me look back and see that I made 1.8 lbs progress - that's good for one week and healthy.:D :D

Thanks ladies.

down 2.4 lbs. Quite tired right now. I began an early morning boot camp 3 weeks ago and had my spin class tonight. We'll see how hard it is to get up at 5:20am tomorrow morning.

Okay, here goes

Down 0.4 pounds in the week as of Jan 20/ down a total of 2.2 pounds since Jan 1. The good news is the rest of the numbers

Fat %age Jan 1 29.4 / Jan 20 28.7 (it was as high as 29.9 in between!)
Muscle Mass Jan 1 91.6 / after dipping as low as 89.4 , Jan 20 back up to 90.8
Metabolic age Jan 1 32 / Jan 13 33 / Jan 20 31! Yay!
Combined inches lost on waist, hips, chest - 2.5

Starting Saturday, my workouts have been:

snowshoeing for a hard hour Saturday
25 minutes of bike on trainer, plus around 30 minutes of heavy bag work on Sunday
33 minutes of bike on trainer on Monday
around 70 minutes of heavy bag work tonight, including warmup and glute focussed cool down exercises
plan for tomorrow is light spin on trainer for at least 40 minutes to try to loosen the glutes
no idea what I'll be able to handle on Thursday and beyond

Way to go all you ladies! Good work on keeping your objectives in focus! We can do this!

Hugs and butterflies,
~T~
