Well, DH wanted to ride with the big boys and I had so many chores, I told him to go and don't worry about me. 40 degrees and 60% chance of rain isn't my cup of tea anyway.
So i did all my shopping chores and got back home and decided to go down to my mother's house and check her cat... and leave my car there and ride home.
So I checked the cat, hopped on my bike, and got onto the green river trail and to my surprise on the other side of the river was THE BIG BOYS! (Seattle Randonneurs) SO I went as fast as I could, but had to go through gravel and mud (construction) and a bridge (scary foot bridge) but i did it and got my bike up between 17 and 18mph until i caught up with them. But there was no DH!!
everyone there said; oh he's feeling good today; he must be ahead. I caught up to these people because they were in the last few miles of a hard 50 miler...
We got to the end of the ride and no DH!!
There were others that had gone on ahead and they were all enjoying their coffee at the coffeeshop that started and ended the ride. But not my sweety.
So I said my goodbyes (it was fun to ride with everyone even for just 5 miles)
and headed towards home after calling DH on his cell and the ride leader also leaving him a message. I got 1/2 mile down the trail and he calls me. He was BEHIND! he'd stopped somewhere to fix his GPS (such an important bike gadget) and so he made it to the coffee shop moments after I took off!
So he caught up with me quickly, and we rode the rest of the way home.
17.6 miles and SUN!!!!
