I finally ordered my bike today (thanks Sue for being there on Tuesday when this started). It is a Project One Trek Pilot 5.2 spa wsd in shades of green. Today Scott did all the measurements and I gave them a down payment. The computer didn't like the fact that my shoulder width is too much for my build, but I can't help that.

Anyway, my bike should come just around the time I finish recovering from the hysterectomy I am having next week, so I will have something to look forward to. And Scott tells me that he can teach me to use the clipless pedals without falling. :D

I will post pictures when the bike, named Gattamelata, arrives.

Enjoy your new bike. My dh has a pilot and loves it, the only bike that doesn't hurt his neck.

Shades of green--mmm--sounds delicious. Green is among the best colors for bikes.;) We want pix!

And btw, good luck with your hysterectomy and don't try to do too much too soon. Let other people take care of YOU!:)

You named your bike before you even saw it?

oh, I'd better get on the stick!

Don't worry Mimi - I've never named any bike I own. Horses, yes. Bikes No.:D

My husband names all of his cars and his bikes. So this one will have a name. But they aren't like horses; a horse can learn to come to his name. A bike can only learn to greet you with affection, and from what i can tell, the name doesn't matter to the bike, only to the rider. ;)

Phonetic, hummmm.

Gah-tah-meh-lah-tah. It means honeyed cat in 15th century Italian and was the nickname of an Italian mercenary. We like cats and we take students to Padua.

I've been playing on the Trek website for months, so I had plenty of time to think of a name. Especially since they give you the option of having the name on the bike. My hybrid, on the other hand, remains nameless.

We do, however, name our cars.

Gatta Melata! how cool! That's better than gatta pelata (bald or peeled cat)
You're not the only one that likes Italian. I am thinking of naming
my bike Aranciata!

Ooh I'm so jealous! It sounds beautiful and I like the name very much (I too, am a cat person, so of course there isn't any bias in my statement:D ) We need pix!

I promise pix, but the bike won't be here for a while.

Orange in Italian would be very appropriate for your new bike Mimitabby. But then anything sounds good in Italian (think Giuseppe Verdi= Joe Green).

Yuckkkkkk!

So what does THAT mean? Hmmm???

aranciata is the name of an orange soda pop drink that is Italian.

I dont agree that anything sounds good in italian. I wanted to name my Veloce bumble bee. the closest to that was either Ape (AH PEH) or calabrone.

Well, most things sound better--even the peeled cat!

I did a quick google and didn't find the bike in shades of green. I can't wait to see it!

You need to go to the Trek site and choose Project One. When you choose the bike, then you get to choose the design and colors. I choose the flame design and the colors are midsection: lime, front and back mint pearl, and tip crystal lymon.

Unfortunately the frame picture is in flash, so I couldn't copy and paste it.

mlove, congratulations on the new bike!!!! :) And yes, we want pictures of you with your new bike!!!! But first please get yourself healed up from your surgery!

And . . . all my bikes are named! My road bike, a 2002 trek 2200 WSD, is named Red (so original :p ), my mountain bike, a 2005 trek fuel EX7 WSD, is called Luvy (because I love to play and ride in the mud).

I also have my old old hardtail, a Schwinn named schwinny who hangs lovingly inside my garage. I just can't bring myself to sell him.

:)

No I never have mimitabby! But I have given them away to (carefully chosen) family/friends. Actually only two, one to my friend Melissa and one to my son off to college. I loved every bike I have owned. Oh wait I did sell one way back in the 80s when we were moving. An old three speed raleigh road bike. It was sad!

Hey Sue, I wish you speedy recovery from the hyster. Having Gattamelata waiting for you during your recuperation should make the time fly by quickly!

Your bike sounds so gorgeous! Also, let us in on Scott's secret method in learning to use clipless without falling......that would be worth knowing!

Could you do a screen capture and post that?

apple-shift-4 gives you a crosshair like think that can be moved and sized to get a desired area

apple-shift-3 will capture the entire screen.

The image shows up on your desktop as Picture 1, Picture 2, etc in png format.

Ok, let's see if this works. Unfortunately it is a bit messy.

looks like you're a quick learner. Cool bike colors.
I have had a lot of fun designing bikes on that webpage. I prefer the polkadots
and the more outrageous the better. But those aren't bikes I'm actually going to buy!
Yours looks very classy.

Cool bike.

Yeah, that's a fun site to play around with (but all my bikes tend towards purple, silver, and black combos....hmmmmm).

mlove -

Gorgeous bike :D - I love the color scheme you chose! (green is my favorite color).

Wishing you a very quick recovery from your hysterectomy. I'll be keeping you in my prayers.

Peace & Love,

Denise
