Hi everyone! It's been quite a long time since I've made it back here (plus the fact that Hubby hogs the computer too!).
First of all, my husband has been putting together his first "nice" bicycle and his first build ever. You can go here to read about it on a day to day, play by play basis. **Warning-He's a different kind of guy. I love him but he has his own way of seeing things so be warned. Personally I think he strays off topic but that's just him I guess!
The Website (http://atlantis2004.crazyguyonabike.com/)
Next. We've been getting ready for our mammoth tour by selling off nearly everything. Most of it on Ebay. So things on that front are going along nicely.
Scott, my husband, has finally taken delivery of his Thorn eXp and it's at Peter White Cycles in New Hampshire being built up currently.
Scott and me have decided on the Thorn Nomad for me. We'll be ordering mine as soon as his is finished up. After thinking things through I decided to not go with the Rivendell Atlantis that Scott bought me. Nothing against the Atlantis at all. I just think the Nomad will suit me better in the long term for touring and I already have a beautiful Bridgestone 400 that I LOVE for day rides, errands, etc. The Atlantis frameset is 53cm, takes 26" wheels and is brand new, unbuilt and comes with a Shimano Ultegra headset so if anyone is interested in a beautiful, brand new, lugged steel deal. PM me!
See, as usual the wife is practical while the husband goes out and buys everything! Scott has a vintage Trek 520 tourer and was in the process of having his eXp frameset welded in the U.K. AND still went and bought himself an Atlantis for "fun rides" as he rationalized it to me. HUH! ;)
And as of yesterday he had the gull to look at me over lunch and actually say something to the effect of, "Amy, I was checking out this guys website. He builds really beautiful custom framesets. Totally custom right down to geometry. Maybe we should get one for me, you know, just to see how it feels?" Innocent my &^%!! He's worse than Imelda Marcos and shoes when it comes to bicycles.
I see a receipt for an order to a builder out in Minnesota and I'm going to crown him.
On the relocation front. We are still planning our move but we delayed it as I got offered some nice cash to stay for another 3 month long contract here in New York City. In addition to our plan for moving to Portland, OR we've also been looking into somewhere just a little south of there in Northern California: in Petaluma. Scott has a friend there and from what we've gathered it's a very striking place to live with great weather, a good school system and lots of good cycling. So we have until August to finalize all that.
Anyway, Hi Everyone! :)
