my 8 week bike training group just ended and the participants want to make personalized bike jerseys for our leaders. We have a creative person working on the design with a vague plan of getting it silk screened onto bike jerseys. Anyone have any advice or experiences to share re? I'm in NYC and would prefer to deal with a local shop, but would welcome generic advice as well re any aspect. thx!

Maryellen:
I was looking into the same thing idea and found lots of companies out there that will make jerseys. Performance also
has a section in their flier to do custom shirts. If you do a search on the internet you will find the companies and hopefully one will be near you in the City.

Our training group gave our group and our leader a musette-bag with a personalized silk-screened motif. In our case, I came up with the graphics and also did the silk-screening. It is a bit more diffifult with the jersey fabric since it is mostly nylon or some other manmade fibre and usually the fabric color has to be heat-set. Putting a hot iron on the jersey isn't the option with this, since it will melt. Pearl River makes the screens, if you want to print it yourselves...otherwise Performance might do it as well. Hope you can make it.....

Modbike: indeed, I'm a siggie (CSIG #2). And the cycling gods were with me. The first silkscreener I called (out of the phone book no less) was not only a cyclist but had completed the A19 SIG two years ago and had done the jerseys for his group!
