We went on a 14 mile ride today averaging 12.7mph.
 I kept up with her like I've never been able to before...although her superior conditioning was obvious as I tired on the last half of the ride.;)

THANKS TEAM ESTROGEN LADIES...YOU'VE HELPED MAKE ME A BETTER MAN!

I feel GOOD

:p Now, maybe I'll start leaving the seat up!:p

Congrats!

Don't leave the seat up. Nothing is worse than getting up in the middle of the night and falling in.

Hey! Mr. S--you start leaving that seat up and we'll drop you like a hot potato! Some things are just unforgivable.:p

I'm happy you did so much better today. And you need to understand that the following statement is simply a gut reaction to the comment you made about leaving the seat up.

I bet Silver was holding back to make you feel better.

Sorry, I shouldn't have said that but I couldn't help myself. Please forgive me.

One step at a time.... and you have made a few positive steps in the right direction. Stay focused and don't slack... it will only get better.

Lessons Learned for 1/5:

I need to plan better, particularly when I'll be driving alot. Fast food is a temptation on the road!

Fast food is so tempting! Very hard to pass up.

When I have taken road trips... one of the things I learned is that there is ALWAYS a Subway near by. Sure, it's not as *yummy* as other fast food... but if you need to eat on the go... it's easy to find on the road.

Otherwise, when I get tempted to stop at Taco Bell, Taco Bueno, etc... I remind myself that eating that food made me gain 10 pounds during the summer... even though I was riding 100+ miles a week... and I also remind myself that my goal is to NOT gain weight. And I keep driving.

Water! Keep a bottle of water with you in the car, and when your stomach starts telling you how starved you are, drink a few slugs & tell it to be quiet. Works (MOST OF THE TIME) for me...

Pretzels on the road... with a tub of soft cream cheese if necessary.

Road food doesn't even make me feel good (evne if it's yummy going down). Just making a huge thing of tea and *not* having so much as a sip of soda has been a good habit change.
