I got a new bike!! We thought I would have to wait to replace Fiona (my 2004 Fuji Finest), but today I was able to get a brand new bike. :D :D :D

I got a 2007 Cannondale Synapse. She is beautiful! I ended up going with a triple, the compact double probably would have worked but I wasn't sure. I was really torn between the Synapse and a 2006 Ruby, but the Synapse won. :)

Tomorrow she will be going on her maiden ride, a 52 mile hilly ride. No taking it easy for the first ride! Maybe she will tell me her name. I will try to find my USB cord for some pictures. If not, maybe the camera phone will take a decent shot.

I must admit when DH said "I guess it is time to put Fiona out to pasture." I got a little teary. The bike was heavy, horrible shifting and not a real smooth ride but she was my bike. She took me many places I never thought I would go, including 2 MS150 tours. Awww shucks, I am getting sappy again.:p

Wow! Amanda, I can't wait to hear how the first ride was! And to see the pics....Enjoy every moment on your new ride. You earned it and you deserve it!!

(and with compact snow on the roads and a good foot of snow on the trails, I'm just a bit envious that you *can* go for a ride tomorrow) Congratulations!

Hugs and butterflies,
~T~

Let's see if this shot is clear enough. Please excuse Heidi's tushy in the shot. :D

Sweet ride! Enjoy putting some serious miles on her!

Oh... and that's a cute little dog tushy in the picture.

Whereas Heidi's tushy is remarkably cute, I think your Synapse is totally hot!

And your old baby, even though out to pasture, can still squeeze in a "familiar-albeit-somewhat-uncomfortable" ride every now and again..............

Woo-hoo, hot stuff! I love those unexpected curves, like in the seat stays and at the back of the seat tube. Wishing you many happy miles together.

Yes, Heidi is wearing a Texas A&M sweater. Here she is, she is facinated by the camera phone.

DH is tinkering away on her in the garage. He put on my clipless pedals, bottle cages, removed the reflectors and is now hooking up my Cateye. He is having to do alot because he didn't want to buy new stuff, he just wanted to move it over from Fiona. <<drumming fingers>> When he is done we can go ride.

I have admired the paint job on that bike from the first time I saw it, it has such a pretty color scheme. The bike is incredibly light too, you'll be flying up those hills! Congrats!

Wow, I love my new bike. The carbon ride is smooth compared to the steel of Fiona. The Shimano 105 is leaps and bounds better than the Shimano Sora I used for nearly 3 years. My bike actually shifts when I want it to and goes where I want!

We had the LBS switch out the stock saddle for one with a cutout. The stock Fizik was horrible. After a 20 minute test ride my girly bits were getting numb. He put on a Serfas saddle (I didn't know they made higher end saddles) and it was awesome. Today the saddle was comfortable the entire ride. My sit bones are a little sore because this is only my 5th ride in the last two months. The other areas of concern were happy. ;)

I am also happy my Cateye is accurate! It was never quite right on my Fuji with the 650 wheels.

Due to weather (16 mph headwind, gusting to 30) we only did 30.80 miles. She was kind enough to let me in on her name: Miranda. I am huge Sex in the City fan and I LOVE Miranda. I wanted to quit after 4 miles due to the wind, but I look at my bike and felt like she was disappointed in me. At the moment I felt like Carrie when she decides to drop her column and move to France. Long story, but that is why she is Miranda. :D :D :D

Congratulations on a happy bonding, Amanda and Miranda! What a great experience with which to end one year and start a new one!
