A big warm, wintery SS hug to Mimi - my not-so-secret sister!:D :D :D
Thank you so much for the wonderful treat... Smartwool Socks and a cushy thermal head warmer. How ironic, as I just purchased the Castelli one from TE and just had to send it back - it was HUGE. I've been told my head is swelled, but not even my bean could wear that one. So I returned it, wondering how I could keep my ears warm and voila! – my SS comes through!
I also got some wonderful warm Italian pudding treats - I can't wait to try them. I gotta run to the store to get my lactose-free milk, but the packets smell delicious. Best of all, since the writing on the package is in Italian, there's no way I can find out the fat/calorie content. Out of sight... out of mind! No calories! Yippeee!
Thanks again Mimi!:D

Such Irony! You already got your package! I just got mine... purchased by someone in Australia.
Now which of the Aussie girls could it be from?
I got some wonderful RED wool socks with both argyle and cats on them!!
and some lip armor (which I really could have used this weekend)
Bluetree, that's really italian hot chocolate!
I hope you like it, it is delicious!

Still only 2 January ss-packages arrived? Has Santa collapsed with exhaustion? Are the reindeer on strike? Is it the wierd world-wide distribution of snow that's slowing delivery? (No snow where the sleighs are loaded up and waiting, piles of snow where camels are the preferred beasts of burden?)

ah, such restraint. After getting burned for November, I was in even more of a hurry this month so that my ss did not suffer.
It is not restraint as much as it usually takes me a couple of weeks to get everything I want to send. I am in awe of those who can receive a name and turn around and mail out a gift. I have never been late (thankfully) and it is still very early in the month. This one may actually go out by Monday, if all goes as planned. :)

Thank you to my fabulous Maryland Secret Sister. I love the socks. They are so much cuter than the warm ones at my LBS.
I also love all the yummy goodies. I had to share the peanut butter pretzels with one of my co-workers. We just go nutty for any kind of peanut butter snacks. I went out snowboarding yesterday and I had a nice big mug of hot chocolate when I got home. I did have to hide the chocolate from my husband.....does that make me a bad person? I also had to explain to him what shot bloks were so that he wouldn't try to steal one of those too.

Toni- Thank you so much for the amazing SS package. It came in the day I had to pay nearly $700 to my old apartment, I needed a pick me up after that! I never imagined what would be in that box- it was like you know me perfectly! Thank you for not sending any UT items, the snowglobe is perfect for our study. BTW- I LOVE snowglobes. :D The door hanger is just the reminder I needed, my doctor would be pleased.
I have already worn the t-shirt and two pairs of the socks. :) I wear warm fuzzy socks every day after work, even in our hot summers. And as soon as I figure out something to cook in the pan, I will be putting it to good use as well.
The snowglobe from my alma mater...

Ehhhm, yep. I admit it. And the postmark was from Dragvoll. I was thinking of waiting til I drove UK Elephant to the airport, cuz then I could have mailed it from H@ll on the way, but decided to go ahead and mail it sooner.
The thermocup was actually UK's idea (inspired by the one Baby Bear gave her for Xmas) It was already sent before you posted your rant about insulated bottles not being sold in Australia. When I saw that post I sent UK a big hug for coming up with just the right idea. :) The balm is from the same climbing shop. The owner had recommended that UK give that as part of her gift to Baby Bear. That too we later saw might have been a lucky guess. What was the problem with your feet? Insect bites? Sunburn? Maybe the balm would work on that too.
ps Folks here in Trondheim are even more stationary than other Norwegians, very loyal to the place. Your pen pal may still be here. Want me to check the phone book?

Aha, I think this might be a clue to who my Silver Spring, Maryland ss of November was/is!
But seriously ...
Yesterday I recieved the most sweet hand-knitted hat. It is in a real dark carob brown (carob bean on-the-tree not the powder) with flecks in clay-yellow and cream. It is as if someone has spun a yarn from a carob-nut health energy bar! I could just *eat* it!
It is a perfect weight/warmth for our winter and covers the tops of my ears but not my ear-rings so a perfect size too
Going over to the wool-weenie thread now...
Btw, there was a nice cat card with it which I am hiding from my cat in case she gets ideas about wool-as-plaything.
And she also must be in touch with Regina because she put her address (California) with no name and an illegible sig on the customs declaration

THANK YOU TO MY WONDERFUL SS!!!!! :D :D :D
Today I was home sick from work, and what before my wandering eyes did appear??? It was not a fat man with eight tiny reindeer. Even better- my wonderful mailman with a gift from my SS!!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all the goodies!! The Iron Girl hat- LOVE IT (and I shall wear it with pride)!!! The chocolate- uh oh, ate one already. :p The socks- couldn't have come at a better time (now that an ice storm is on the way and my toesies are freezing in anticipation). The bath goodies already make me feel relaxed. The Burt's Bees- my FAVORITE lip balm! And finally, the book- just precious and made me smile- very inspirational (oh, and the card you wrote on DOES remind me of the beach I love so much).
Thank you for finding out about me and getting things that I truly, truly love. You're so wonderful, and you made a icky day a million times brighter!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! ;)
Now for the hard part.... who live in Grass Valley, CA???? If I don't guess soon you'll have to PM me and tell me who you are! Thank you!

Am I allowed to cry? i got home after my bike ride today and found a very heavy box. Yes from my most wonderful SS! I can not believe how much she personalized my gifts!
Where to start? First she gave me a bunch of furry mice for kitty's that was way cool and they are their favorite! How did you know? I don't even remember writting about my cats. At least not all three! She also gave me a pair of cycling wool socks,( I have one pair and really needed another). And a ear warmer thingy. Ok here is the weird thing, right before my dh and I went for our ride today I was saying to him how I needed to get one of those. Today I said this! Is that not wierd? And it has been cold here. Today's high 49 with a wind chill so it was even colder. Tonight 22. So both socks and ear warmer thingy perfect! And it doesn't stop there. Two different kinds of hot chocolate, two cliff bars, burts bee's hand salve (always handy) Vanilla chap stick (a nice big tube). And hold on the best, two bags of cadbury christmas chocolate eggs!!!!! I just ate my last two like three days ago. I was sad about it too. Now I am stocked up! Oh and a hand warmer and toe warmer packs, the one's that heat up and you stick in your gloves or socks. I looooovvvveeee you! Now who are you? Hmmmm?????? My mom lives in mississippi too. Boy you gave me enough clues too. She's a teacher? she's in the bluegrass region. I am going to figure this out. Thank you again so much from the bottom of my heart!

For the past few days, I've been rather sick having been the recipient of the intestinal virus going around the country. Then I get back to work yesterday after a rather awful weekend and have to do overtime. Today wasn't much better as we got slammed all day in radiology. I get home tonight and find a nice package waiting on my doorstep. :) I really needed a pick me up, so I waited to open it up until the house was still and I'm all comfy in my jammies with some nice, soft music on.
What a wonderful assortment of biking goodies. I am totally overwhelmed this month. I just sat here speechless for quite a while. :D My January SS went out of her way to stay anonymous too. But there are somethings that can't be hidden. Like the love and friendship between two sisters. Thank you Jen (BMo3) for putting the smile back on my face, today and everyday. You have been a true inspiration and I'm so fortunate to have you in my life.
Hugs and kisses sis!! And big hugs to that fantastic hubby and those kids of yours as well. :D

X - hope you're feeling better girl. And I know what you mean...
I got home last night to a HUGE box from my SS! I wish I had a digital camera so you could see it but here's what was in it:
A nice wicker basket (no Lisa, you can not have it for your bike:D ) full of goodies wrapped in celophane and white ribbon - did I feel special or what?
Inside was a chocolate lovers dream: 3 gormet chocolate candy bars and a tin of bit size bitter sweet chocolate, 2 canisters of dark chocolate cocoa, lip balm, cool socks, and a book with my sons name on it (you've been paying attention!) about Franklin learning to ride a bike! He was in heaven! And a cute bike notecard apologizing for the temptations while on my diet:p
Thank you SO much SS! Blue Tree or Snap, is it one of you two??

A huge hug to my SS - Laura. As my mom would say, you done good! I was exhausted when I left work today (why do four day weeks take so much out of you?) and was thinking of all I had to do given I have to work my other job tomorrow when I opened my mailbox and found a festive envelope with my name on it! Needless to say my energy level picked up some and a smile consumed my face. I rushed into the house, let the dogs out and opened my package, with kitten help of course. Inside, I found simply wonderful gifts - socks, hand warmers, sports beans and shot bloks (I've read about these but have not been able to find them - I'm excited:p ) Thanks again Laura, I'm looking forward to finally having warm hands when I ride on cold days and toasty toes :)

Hey, I LOVE Ground Effect--I went through a whole email thing with them last fall involving a custom pair of Witches' Britches. They are beyond cool. So to have a Ground Effect Baked Beanie hat is perfect! I am delighted to have the hand warmers because I am really subject to cold fingers. The purple-stripe NZ sheep socks are totally adorable. I would love to see NZ some day--Mr. Salsa lived there for about eight months and loved it. Also, as both a Wales fan and a knitter, I just plain like sheep. And I have yet to read a book by Lance himself, so thank you very much for that book. I did read and was totally fascinated by "Lance Armstrong's War" (just in case anyone needs a book rec).

Boy, don't I know THAT one! That is such a great idea. My DH said he used to use old socks for that when he was a kid, but I think my home-made wrist warmers are MUCH better! A huge thank you to my really secret SS
not only did you obviously do your research to find out my absolute favourite cycling products company - but in the process you managed to find a way around the postmark and customs form ruining the secrecy.
The bandana will be great for the 'man its hot out there days' - we had our hottest day of the summer on Monday. The 'padded cell' is much appreciated too - I'm always a bit worried that the tools banging around in the seat bag of my commuter bike might puncture my spare tube but had never got around to doing anything about it.

I saw the sun too, briefly, just before it set. I finished work early yesterday and caught a glimpse of a big orange ball at the south horizon, lighting up an otherwise darkening turquoise-headed-towards-purple sky. Gorgeous!!! But so cold my face was stiff when I got home, just a mile-and-a-half up the road, and that was before it started blowing and snowing again. Today, on the other hand, the cold and snow has turned to rain. :( What a downer. But then I got home, sweaty from spin class and rain-drenched from the hike home, and what should greet me but a package from MomOnBike!!!! :D Hot chocolate :p :p :p Which shall I choose? Raspberry? Amaretto? Hazelnut? White Mocha? Here I sit, showered and suppered, cozy in my new snowflake-patterned smartwool socks. I'm gonna go put on a sweater and that bright red scarf (what a statement that is for a greying old "duck"! ;) ), sip my cocoa ... and gloat. Well. DH can have cocoa too if he wants. We have plenty of ordinary cocoa he can mix up.
p.s. You are so right! There is no such thing as bad weather, only inadequate clothes. And sometimes adequate clothes means four well-insulated walls and a roof. :)

I'm in the Come Home From a Horrible Day At Work to a Wonderful Secret Sister package club. :D
My package included a recycled pop-bottle head band (in 7-UP bottle green!), come cocoa and cider packs, a nifty mug filled with Dove chocolates to put the cocoa in (I'll take care of the Doves first ;) ), and some neat Smart Wool socks. I love it all.
Thanks, Secret Sis, (I'll do some sleuthing later, right now, I'm drinking cocoa).

My wonderful secret sister sent me a variety of Larabars! My favorite so far has been the apple pie. YUMMY! And, a giant bag of brown rice pasta in spirals. I haven't seen much spiral pasta I can eat, so what a blessing. Plus a cool "bike to work day" bag. I'm going to use it for my library books.
I got a feeling my SS rides a Trek ... hee hee. :D

I will be wearing the socks on my commute home and enjoying the cliff bar after I get to work in the morning. I am putting the dice in my car. Thanks again!!!

To cap it off a &^%$ Monday on my way home someone committed some manner of crime at the BART station I parked at. The station is closed and trains won't stop there till it's investigated but my car is there ... the easiest thing was to get off at the next station. There's a bus straight to my home, I'll bike to work tomorrow and get the car on the way back.
but what's this? Warm woolie socks! and pink cheerful PI socks to wear on the ride to work tomorrow. Thanks OTG, I'm in cozy socks and will have some hot chocolate.
I'm feeling better. :D

Yay! I got a package today! All the way from Phoenix and full of lots of goodies. Those toe covers will really come in handy. I've been having trouble keeping my toes warm because I can't fit thick wooly socks in by cycling shoes. Problem is now solved by something I didn't even know existed! And I'm just getting ready for a bit of hot chocolate tonight. BF is off to the pub to watch footy so I'm having a quite restful evening at home with chocolate and a cuddly cat. Ghirardelli is far more exclusive than what I normally throw together! So thank you gazillions!!!
And thank you from Susie Q too! She was very happy with her brand new box and paper to play with. For some reason she loves being curled up in a cardboard box, or sitting on paper, or biting cardboard. (and she is my very cute little cat in case you were wondering...)

Dragged myself down to the mailbox on another rainy, cold day (by Phoenix standards), and there was a package all the way from Israel! I'm so excited over all the thoughtful contents, and can't wait to try the homemade jam and the honey (I have to figure out how to keep this stuff away from my husband).
And an herb pillow! Can't wait to try it out!
Thank you so much, Margaret!

I received a package from my SS. No return addy, but it seems to have come from Massachusetts. hmmm.....trying to figure this out.
What a great surprise it was! It has been so cold here, I haven't ridden in a week. All I want to do is get under the electric blanket, but now I'm more inspired.
I received a fleece balaclava, so pretty and WARM! Chocolate, hey who doesn't love that! A bike journal, I can't wait to start on it. It has a place to write about your ride. A great bike diary I can look back at some day. PowerBar gels. Very pretty trek socks that perfectly match my Trek 7.2fx, and a purple sprocket keychain, which is just in time since I broke my other keychain last week.
You certainly made my "dang-it's-cold-and-I-have-to-run-a-concession-stand-with-the-junior-class-all-day-Saturday", weekend MUCH more enjoyable!
Thank you so much!

That must be me with the secret friend in Richmond, VA :)
Thank you thank you Jeannie. I love it all. I cannot tell you how many times I nearly bought those ear warmers myself!! And the toasty toes I will have to hide from my skiing dad and perpetually cold husband! :D Everything is awesome.
My pets were very interested in the new smells. The dog worked over every piece of tissue paper and the cat couldn't handle being one-upped so he draped himself across it. Love the color ;)
So, thank you once again.

:p Yeah, Colby, it is I! :p I guess I give the secret away with my return address - I think I'm the only TE member who actually lists Richmond as my town. Maybe I should put Central VA... at least that would put me in the company of 3 and I'd be a teeeny bit more obscure.
Anyway, glad you were happy with your package. I had mucho fun putting it together!:D

WOOT I squeked in my present to the post office today. Sorry to my secret sister for making her wait so long.
And would that package have been shipped to North Carolina, perhaps?
Guanajagirl...are you my SS? :)
If so, THANK YOU!!! I know it's been said a thousand times before, but once again...your package came just when it was sorely needed! I had an awful day last Friday that ended with a nasty migraine. By the time I got home, I was in a foul mood. I opened the mailbox and saw a box for me and voila! instant mood shift!
Thank you so much for the adorable slipper socks (how did you know how cold it would get here this week?! good timing!!), the yummy chocolate and almonds (I LOVE both!), and the book on tape! It sounds like a great story and since we leave for a road trip on Friday, I'll be sharing it with my DH on the way. I apologize for not thanking you sooner, but I was without internet all weekend and didn't get time to 'investigate' your identity until today!
If it's not you, I'm stummped...so let me know! :D
Thanks again!!

:D What fun to come home last night after a long rainy commute to find a surprise waiting for me on my porch :D . Thank you so much to my Texas SS - Aggie_Ama (???)
The Smartwool socks will keep my feet toasty on my chilly weekend morning rides. Sport beans - love them! Sharkies are new to me, so I'm looking forward to giving those a try on the road. How did you know the lip balm in my bento box was almost gone? Saving the coffee to share with DH for our Saturday waffle breakfast. I am intrigued with the Mexican style hot chocolate which I'm going to take to work today to enjoy - with my lovely new mug. Note to self, pack some milk with your lunch today!
Thanks again for your well thought out goodies. You certainly brightened up a very gloomy California day.

At least I think my SS was kerrybelle--the only hit when I searched on "Bayville, New Jersey" was your intro post. So thank you so much! It was well worth waiting for!
I really appreciate that you went to so much trouble to tailor the package just for me--lots of delicious vegan treats, toe warmers (how did you know I'm using them EVERY DAY now on my commute?) and fuzzy warm things to heat me up during this cold snap.
Thank you--it's like Christmas all over again.
