Hey there,

I just want to ask if you can send some good thoughts to the areas affected by the bushfires in Australia.

Theav-are you affected by the ashes that were raining down in Canberra???
Postiechic-how is the visibility in Melbourne?

I don't know if we have any lurkers from the affected areas of Vic but if you're lurking..take care of yourselves!

To the firefighters battling the blazes-I hope you get some rest in the next 24hrs as they said it's still a long battle & thanks for doing the job!!!

Sending good thoughts right now and coming from California I could use the same. The wildfires here are so bad this time of year. We had a huge one last week. And then it rains and causes bad mud slides cause there is no brush left to hold it back. So I am with you on this one.

sending out good throughts from Queensland. If we don't get some rain here soon we';ll be next.

But please. Can everyone send thoughts of RAIN too Tasmania, Canberra, Sydney, and most of Victoria?? It's the drought that's caused this... Everything is SOOOO dry.

I live in North-East Victoria & since I returned from the Great Victorian Bike ride the fires have been raging. My hubby is a volunteer fireman & is obssessed with the fires and cannot speak about anything else-his radio communication is turned on day & night & he is arranging crews to fight. As well there is a constant pall of smoke which lifts occasionally when the wind changes. This is expected to go on for weeks if not months! Getting out on the bike can be tricky as the air is so thick with smoke so I have been doing some RPM(spin) classes instead. Life goes on & to think this is just the start of our summer,

Things are not too bad in Canberra, yesterday was hot hot hot (35) and smokey (there was a bushfire near Tumut - west of us) but we've been pretty lucky. Since the really bad burn in 2003, we've been so lucky.

Victoria sounds like it's awful down there, and i heard on the news, crazycanuck, a few homes were lost in WA today.

I just pray for rain. I couldnt be happier if it rained for a week, but i dont think it's going to happen. We were fortunate today, after the scorcher yesterday we didnt even make 20 degrees today. What a wonderful relief. Cant say i minded being cold at all :D :D

My supervisor was back home in NZ last week and she said if only she could have bottled the weather and brought it back. It's amazing how different it can be only 3 hours flying away!

The bushfire that destroyed a home was in the hills of Kalamunda. We mtn bike out that way & a few work mates live in that area as well. I could see the smoke from my window at work and hoped the firefighters could have it under control quickly.

The fire is pretty much under control now but who know what the rest of the summer's going to be like!!!

We like to cringe when we hear about the crappy weather back home (i like to believe three countries are my home) in NZ but the rain would be wonderful!!!

I heard about these dreadful fires on the news and was wondering whether any of our cycling sisters were affected. Positive thoughts coming at you all from Florida, USA. I used to live in southern California which is regularly plagued with fires, so I have some idea of what you're going through.

Glad to hear that some of these fires are getting under control now.

Definitely positive thoughts coming your way from SoCal... I hope they can get this under control and that no more home and no lives are lost...

The fires here in 2003 are one of the scariest things I have ever lived thru... be safe and LISTEN if you're told to evacuate! Hugs...

am thinking of any TE sisters in tassie. You guys have had it rough the last few days. Hope you're all doing ok.

I was listening to the ABC this morning & the fire situations in Tassie & Vic aren't really going to improve over the summer. The gentleman from the fire service stated the one in Vic will take most of the summer to contain. If I can find an article on the web to support that, i'll post it.

So if you can send rain, that would be great. Rain by subliminal message, rain by rain dance, rain by any means is appreciated.
