a new biker is born!!!!

Well actually he was born about 12 years ago. My son did his first 10 miles in the road with me last night! He kept a fairly respectable beginner speed and we celebrated with ice cream midway through the ride.

I'm really proud of him. He has always been an over cautious kind of guy and never really into the joy of zoom. I think I have a convert! :p

My brother and I always constantly biked when we were young - it gave us the freedom to travel where ever we felt like.

The words "I'm going for a bike ride," almost had magical powers in the household. :D

I bought my 12 year old son a Specialized Allez last year because he really took to riding with my husband and I. We are planning to do the M.S. ride in June. I have nothing but GREAT things to say about riding with my son. We have spent hours out there on the road and have developed a wonderful relationship.
He is a great kid!! We currently have a "little deal" going...if he gets all A's on his report card all 4 quarters net year I am going to buy him the Look frame he has been drooling over.

Wow I wish you were my mom!!!! My son really likes riding but doesn't care what he rides, as long as the destination is fun. he is currently riding a huffy MTN (which shifts amazingly well!). I have learned with him not to buy anything expensive until he asks for it or he feels pushed and looses interest. We will ride that Huffy to the ground :) Just keep pedaling !!!!!!!!!!!!!
