View Full Version : My sweet new Cervelo! (In case you don't hit the tri forum.)
Well, I FINALLY get to post one of these... "Look at my new bike"... threads! :D
This is my Cervelo One. I can't decide what to name her. I thought of "Yellow Jacket". But that sounds kind of *mean*, and I'm not a hammer-head rider.
Hhhhuuummmm?
Oh well, I took her for her first 13 miles today. I got in aero maybe for a total of .50 miles of that! :( It was scary. Tri bikes are so much lighter on the front and it's hard to stay straight in aero position. I am sure I will get use to it over time.
Otherwise, she felt FAST! I can't wait till I have the confidence to rider her like she's stolen ;) .
My next goal... to get a new road bike to replace my Trek 1000. HA!
Finally... my Dad bought my pedals... my Mom bought my saddle, and my boyfriend bought:
* A wireless bike computer
* A tool bag with all the goodies needed to change a flat
* New bar tape (the red was horrible looking)
* A water bottle cage
* A new seat post
* The fitting!
As you can see, my dear sweet boyfriend was very generous. I have all I could of dreamed of for Christmas!

Absolutely stunning! I know you'll enjoy many happy miles together.
How about "Bumblebee"?

Lovely ride! I'm digging those Pittsburg colors (black & yellow/gold). You could name her Terry (Bradshaw) or Roberto/a (Clemente). Although I think Bad JuJu is on to something w/Bumblebee because when I first saw the photo, I thought "BEE BIKE." "Sting" could be a good alternative.

She's beautiful! My DP just bought me aero bars and a tri seatpost for my Kestrel Talon so I can shift from road to TT position. It's fabulous, but I can dream of a setup like yours!
On the bee theme, how about "Buzz." ? Or maybe Buzz for the not-taking-itself-seriously days and Sting for when it's time to kick a$$?:D
Beautiful bike! And it fits well, right? It looks like it does - I was confident that it was your size! The first couple of times in aero position is quite unnerving -and having to jump back to the bullhorns to hit the brakes, etc. Over time it'll all be second nature, just keep practicing.
I took Speedy (my Cervelo) out on a long ride yesterday. It was his first since this summer b/c I've been riding Ruby a lot lately (my road bike) - and it took a few minutes to not swerve and weave while getting used to the aero position again, and I've been riding tri bikes for a few years now! The first few times you ride in the aero position on longer rides, you'll probably get a sore neck, maybe sore back. But once your body gets used to it, they'll be no more soreness.
Oh, and I like the name "Sting" that was suggested earlier :cool:
Congrats on the new bike and have fun!!
What a awesome-cool bike. Lots of good names suggested. I do like yellow jacket. Have many wonderful miles on her.

Velobambina "Lovely ride! I'm digging those Pittsburg colors (black & yellow/gold). You could name her Terry (Bradshaw) or Roberto/a (Clemente)."
or "The Bus" as long as we're going all football. :p
That could be fun as in:
"what bike are you bringing to the ride?"
"oh, I'll just bring 'the Bus'"
"We'll do an easy ride then" Image of heavy yellow steel (ahem) bike;)
you show up with :eek:

I like Sting, personally. And you're right; the red bar tape had to go.

Its beautiful, congratulations!!!
I was just out in Dallas for Thanksgiving and could not believe the warm weather, I was bummed I didn't have a bike to ride. At least I got to run without feeling like my lungs were burning from cold. It has been frigid here lately. Enjoy your sweet ride and beautiful riding weather!

That really is a beautiful bike, K. And you look fantastic on it! Please give us ongoing updates on your experience... I'm seriously thinking about getting a Quintana Roo next year and I'd love to hear how one gets used to riding aero like that.

Well, thanks!
Yea, this bike kind of chose me...because it was on a close out special that I couldn't pass up.
How about "HoneyBee"?
Hhhhhuuuummm... that's a good name too.

OH! Those are nice bikes. If you are serious about tri's, then it would probably be worth purchasing one. I will give updates on my comfort level on the bike. I am sure with many more miles it will happen.

Yea, it was great weather! Even yesterday I was out running in shorts and a long sleeved shirt- and I was hot! Although today the weather has turned cold again... bbbbuuuurrrrr. But unless it's raining, I have the gear and I'm ready to ride!
It's beautiful. I'm envious!
how about "golddigger"
Hee-hee... funny! Well, if she hadn't been on sale... that might work. Maybe I should come up with a name that goes along with the fact that I was lucky to find such a wonderful close out deal on her.
Now of course, you have to get all the matching black/yellow accessories....
Well, I bought a yellow-ish jersey today! Although, I got it because it was on sale, not because of the colors, but I will match the bike.
And I also love the name "sting"...but being a Hobbit fan, I would.
Hhhhhhuuuummm... I would feel too much like I was naming her after the singer... but I like "The Stinger". HA!
