Hi all

Anyone out there know of a great womans saddle. I'm having difficulty finding something that doesn't make me wince everytime I go out.

Your saddle is a very personal choice. What fits me might be horrible for you. You may to have to try lots of different saddles before you find the one that is right for you. There are two sections of this forum that address the saddle issues. They’re in the “Gear and Accessories” section. They’re called “Favorite Saddles” and “Most-hated Saddles”. Check those out, then go try out a bunch.

Also remember that you might not find one that feels PERFECT the first time out. You may have to ride a while before you get used to it. My LBS let me “test ride” several saddles until I found the one that I liked. A test ride didn’t mean just a spin around the block. I rode a couple of hours on each one. And no saddle will feel right if your bike doesn’t fit properly. Good luck.

I just got a "Terry Women's Liberator Gel" saddle this year based on a recommendation from a friend. She said to get just the liberator but I got the gel. The style is the same between the 2, but the gel has a little more padding. So far it's been very comfortable.

Hi Shannon,

You might analyze (no pun intended!) what makes you wince. Where is the saddle causing discomfort? What changes in the saddle do you think would help make it more comfortable? (Padding in some places? Less material or a hole in other places?)

Keep this in mind when you try different saddles.

Good luck!

PS A lot of bike shops will let you return saddles within a few days if you don't like them. Some saddle manufacturers (like Terry) have a money back guarantee.)

Thanks, Adventure Girl! I'm glad that at least SOMEONE thinks I'm funny. ;)

Oh great, now upon re-reading this I see how whiney this sounds.

Here's the deal: I had just had a little run in with a parking security guard at the airport, and she hadn't found me particularly funny. Poor woman -- she was just trying to do her job to keep the airport safe. For my part, I was just trying to do a friend a favor, and was trying to nicely cajole the poor airport parking security lady into a little bit of leniency.

Ah well, all's well that ends well.

I tried a few saddles for my road bike and gave up! I went out and bought the same saddle that is on my Giant Sedona. It is sooo comfortable and not really that much bigger than a regular road saddle. It was only $20! Lots of gel and woman specific cut out. Cool , schmool....give me comfort

Love my Vitesse on the road bike (and the tandem).

You can read more reviews here (http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24) as well as other favorites in the "Favorite Saddles" section of the forum.

Funny you should ask; we just talked about taking the tandem out this weekend last night .

We rode it a time or two late in the season last year. Verrrry casually at charity-events. I was ok.

There is a race with a tandem class this weekend. You can see pictures from last-year's event here. (http://www.indianaraceseries.com/EagleCreekFastCrit2003.html) (You'll have to scroll all the way down). Captain is in yellow and red and I am in red/grey. Yes that is me waving at the camera; some " race" huh? :D

Whoops, I hijacked the thread!

I'll take the blame for hijacking. I was too lazy to send a PM. :D
