A little behind the times:

My BFs 88 year old mother came to visit over the Thanksgiving holiday, and we were both feeling a little smothered after the first day or so. I finally escaped for a 2 hour ride on Friday, and upon seeing my new bike, her comment was-"But it's a BOYS bike! How do you get on it?" I tried to give a brief explanation of WSD bikes, but she looked at me like she wasn’t buying it. If it has a “bar across the top”, it’s a boys bike- end of story.

And then seeing me all decked out in my cycling stuff (including tights)- "You look so sporty in those latex pants!" I assured her that women no longer ride in ankle-length skirts or bloomers, but let the "latex" comment slide by (I'm sure she meant Lycra)!

I got the same "boy's bike" comment from my mom when I brought my bike home! And it's a Terry.

Couldn't they at least say "That's a MAN's bike!":D.

Even I find a bike meant for boys just a little too small:rolleyes:.

You would really throw them into confusion if you were riding a mixte.

My mom came over once and saw my shorts hung up, drying in the bathroom. She calls them my Stretchy Pants.

That's so funny! As if women's anatomy was somehow basically different!

Which it is. But not that way. Oh h*ll, you know what I mean. Men aren't the only ones with legs that can be lifted!

Whatever I say it looks funny. It's early, I need some coffee.

y'know when you really think about it - considering a man's (or boy's) anatomy, why did they make bikes with top tubes in the first place??? Have you ever been with a guy when his cleat slipped and he didn't clip in at a red light?? OUCH!!!
