Mimi--does this one fit your dreambike criteria of an Italian steel bike that comes in a size to fit you? It sure is delicious-looking!

no. That one is bllue and red.

Hopefully they are flexible about the colors. THAT would be really dangerous.

Just stop it, Mimi. My stable is full right now and I don't want to be tempted, as I, too, have a weakness for Italian steel. (as an aside, Furio was my favorite character on the Sopranos---it disappointed me that he and Carmela never gave in to their attraction!!).

I just saw a Marinoni frame like this 30 minutes ago http://www.marinoni.qc.ca/html/en_piuma.html

in red, frame only, all steel (no carbon), Columbus tubing, an almost triangular shape on the downtube. Big Columbus dove on the fork crown. I make have to go back there and drool on it some more. But didn't like the geometry when I looked it up - steep seat angles even on the touring and sport models and long top tubes.

Yeah, Deb, that one would have gotten my attention too. I won't buy unless i am very very sure. I will get a Serotta fit (not that THAT guarantees anything!)

I just got back from Italy and it is true that italians tend to have long torsos and short legs... :(

I confess my cluelessness. Mimi, (and anyone else) tell me the things you like about this bike. I am truly interested in knowing more about what I see in the picture. I feel so dumb! :o

i'd been reading about Marinoni. They make a touring bike, and the price is nice, and it's Italian steel. The touring bike has campy components too.
Then i saw this one on their 2007 lineup, and I really really want an orange bike,
so i had to share. I am telling you this so you don't think i am a total airhead.

I'm not spending more than 1000 dollars on a silver bike. or a black bike. or a blue bike. no no no.

Oh wow, I love how honest you are! :p :D

I can relate to stuff like that...the color, the price, the components, etc.
Was the steel actually MADE in Italy, or was the frame just put together there from Japanese steel or something? (don't get me wrong Japanese steel is some of the best there is these days, and my Ramb. is made from it).
I like orange too. I would have picked the older orange model Rambouillet instead of my newer blue one if there had been any available at the time. ;)

In 1971, my parents bought my sister and I, a Gitane, orange, 10 speed, to ride while in college. I loved that Gitane and to this day, I wish I could have kept it. I finally gave the bike away (in 1995) to someone who I thought was "deserving" of that bike. I loved that bike and I felt like I gave away my soul when I had to part with it. One of the best things I liked about that bike was the paint job...it was orange...the bike itself was way to big for me, but little choice in those days...but it was sooooo pretty:o

Or you could just get a garage sale bike and paint it:
