View Full Version : Looking for bright yellow helmet

I'm interested in finding a bright yellow helmet. I have a few bright yellow biking clothes, and I also want something that is highly visible in traffic.
I do know about the Bell Citi Helmet, but wondered if there are others around.
I have a SMALL head, so larger men's helmets won't do. Perhaps an adult helmet that fits 21" would do.
Any leads?...

boy that's a tough one. THere are lots of yellow helmets for children. How silly of helmet manufacturers to NOT have yellow! (or flames for that matter!)

It's weird -- there used to be a lot of yellow helmets available. The Giro that I crashed in (my dog accident) was yellow, and my husband still has a bright yellow Giro he bought a few years ago. I guess there are fashion colors in helmets just like with everything else. It does seem irresponsible of the manufacturers not to supply a nice visible color choice like yellow.
They do make little yellow reflective stickers you can put on the back of your any-colored helmets, though. Performance sells them, and I am sure other LBS's must as well.
Good luck!

Thanks. I think reflectors are great for riding after sunset- when they reflect off of car headlights in the dark. But I ride in daylight only, and reflectors (and reflecting stickers) are just not much of anything in broad daylight. So I wanted a screaming yellow helmet, not reflectors. Maybe I'll just have to put battery blinkies on my helmet or something, look like a Martian...
I too think it's really WIERD that there aren't more bright colored helmets. HELLO?? Missed opportunity here???
And why do they think all women cyclists want pink or lavender helmets????  If I had a BIG head at least I could wear the non-girly-girl men's selections more.
P.S. Mimi- cute. Very cute.

I saw helmets in a bike store in Winston Salem with little blinkies built in, standing up off the top of the helmet. Now that would make you look like a Martian:)
I had been fighting with MSN to login and retrieve my TE password... only to notice that I was still logged on.
Bike Nashbar has a yellow helmet, the Limar 907, currently on sale. They also carry the Bell Ghisallo and a Louis Garneau, but neither is all yellow. The Rudy Project has two helmets available in yellow: the Ayron and the Kontakt...
Here's a picture of the Limar:

Here's a nice visible lid-cover for the cold and wet season from our swell TE friends:

I have the yellow one and love it.

I love that Limar one, but nobody seems to have it available in yellow, only in the other colors. I found it in one place that supposedly has it in yellow, but they wanted $150 for it- ridiculous, considering other places offer the same Limars for more like $70.
I keep seeing yellow helmets offered and shown in the pictures online, but then when you go to choose your size and color, only the other colors appear in your choices....no yellow.
The other problem is that some of these helmets (and the helmet cover on TE) only have yellow on the sides, and the front and back are some other darker color. Is it wanting too much to seek visibility front and back as well? :(

Yellow is not listed as in stock or available. :(
That would have been The One, for sure.

OK, I did find that cool Limar yellow helmet in medium here for $79, so I got one:
https://www.bicyclebuys.com/Items01.asp?NavID=moreinfo&SKU=LI9076PART
Hope they actually have it as listed. And special thanks to PLL (pat) for pointing out the groovy Limar to me! It's exactly what I had envisions- just plain super bright yellow all over.
I hope it works out! Will post when I get it. Here's a yellow smiley in the meantime: :)
That is great news!
In the link you sent, I love the styling of the Limar 801 and, even though I don't need one now, I am considering getting one. Someone please stop me ...

Lisa, I just clicked on the link, and there are NO yellow helmets left, so I sure hope you got the last one and won't get an email from them telling you that they don't *actually* have that color!
That happened to me with some shoes I wanted to order (on sale) from Nashbar. It showed my size on their site, I went through checkout, got an order confirmation from them and everything. The next day, I got an email saying that the shoes were not available after all, and as a result, they were cancelling my order. That sucked!
The yellow Limar is really nice - let us know if you get it. Better yet, a picture of you in it would be just perfect! :D

Yes Emily,
That is a fear I have as well- that the order went through but they don't actually have it. ONe good sign is that the yellow one was listed yesterday and now is not- perhaps i DID get the last one?? (or maybe they just updated their mistaken inventory)
Got an automated email confirmation. Will wait to see if it comes in the mail now. Will post if/when I get it or not. It sure looks cool....and it will match my TE yellow gloves:
http://www.teamestrogen.com/images/products/LG-1482029-ALL_xlg.jpg
and my TE windpro jacket:
http://www.teamestrogen.com/images/products/SB-7076-362_xlg.jpg
I LOVE that jacket by the way- so snuggly, and it moves/stretches when I do. Softer than it looks in the picture, but nicely tailored.
DH says I look like a skindiver with my yellow jacket and gloves and my black balaclava when it's cold out. He calls me "Sweetie Cousteau". Hmm....maybe I'll have to do a little "skin diving"  ;)
The following yellow helmet might cause cars to stop :D . I saw it on several teams on the Tour de France (the picture below is Euskaltel Euskadi in the Vuelta). It is a Catlike "Whisper", a Spanish brand not distributed in the US.
Lisa S.H: No news must be good news regarding your yellow Limar. The other yellow helmets in the site you bought have all disappeared from the listings (the Limar 911, for example).

How about this one at LL Bean. The Bell solar helmet

I got the yellow Limar helmet today, 3 days after ordering it. Got the one PLL pointed out:
http://forums.teamestrogen.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2078&stc=1&d=1163689324
I have a very small head, even for a woman, and I got the size Medium (unisex, I assumed). It fits fine with all the straps tightened up to the max. Adjusted that way, it's a nice snug fit. A very nice bright yellow color. It actually curves to better protect my forehead and the back of my head than my old helmet. Points out in back a little more, alien style, and is a bit wider all around on the putside. I like it. And it goes with my yellow bike jacket and gloves.
So yes, I guess I got the last one! (except for a $125 identical one I also saw for sale online, but who'd want to pay that much for a helmet that typically sells for $60-80??)
PLL, that Catlike Whisper helmet is strangely attractive. They look like a swarm of Honeycomb Bee-Head men! I can't see how it would be very aerodynamic though, with all those holey bumps.

Congratulations!
And, indeed, "strangely attractive" is a good description of how I feel about the Catlike Whisper.

I want one of those holy helmets now... Kinda like the Tarnhelm, is it?
I could win the Tour de France with that, or at least look like the winner. :D
(uh-oh, I'm being obscure again, aren't I? quick, someone get me an OED and leave me in a dimly lit quiet room for a while)

You are to funny. I like that idea though, solar power to get up the hills. I'd have to charge it all day.
