How do you like the eggbeaters so far?
(I think they're great, personally)

is that a Sugino crankset with the crown logo? I *so* wanted that for my own bike, but it didn't come short enough, so I had to get a plain-looking Sugino.
I have a couple of questions for you, since I just converted my bike to a compact double:
--What kind of front derailleur are you using?
--Can you explain a little more about how your crank spider was filed to improve the shifting?
Thanks!

I just got them yesterday. Today will be there maiden ride - other than up and down the road out front.
It is a Sugino crankset. I have an IRD front derailleur. Mark filed the shoulders on the spider because the designers did not expect it to be used with a 33 tooth inner ring. He created a groove for the chain to sit in.

Beautiful! (Is LegolasT a boy? Should I say "handsome"?) Better make sure you spend some quality time with Fluffy, don't want him getting jealous.

Fluffy will be my solo training ride bike. He's also the bike in the trainer. The Legolas (still nameless, but male and beautiful:D ) will be for events and group rides.

Oh, that's nice, V. I better turn the screen so Sweet Pea can't see that. We don't need any bike envy from the bike too.

Hey - great bike!!! Congratulations! I love red..... and Campy record....
Sweet bike V. Reminds me of a hot chili pepper!
Naming the bike . . .
Rovente - italian
Candente - spanish
Rode Heet - dutch
(red hot)
Caliente Dulce - spanish
Caldo Dolce - italian
(sweet hot)
I kinda like the Dutch ....
It reminds me of lousy spelling, but it's not, and it's sort of like a pun, just kind of fun!

So Veronica,
Now that you've ridden your Legolas for a bit, are there any new comments you have about it?
Your favorite things about? Not-so-favorite things? Would you change anything if you ordered it again now, knowing what you do now?
And how have your other bikes shifted in their usability for you now that Legolas is there?
Did you ever pick a name? (didn't like Arrow?) Maybe just Legolas is enough?
More info please! :)

Funny, I've been staying off TE - it's a time sump. But I'm drinking my cranberry, raspberry, oj juice concotion after a date with Coach Troy - Hillacious and saw your question.
So - I've had some problems with the front derailleur. It was throwing to the outside when I would shift from the small ring to the big ring, going downhill and with the rear derailleur in the middle of the cluster. With the triple I could recover from such a thing by pedaling backwards - that doesn't seem to work with a double. :p
Saturday I discovered while riding that the bolt clamping the front derailleur to the frame wasn't tight. I had shifted from the big ring to the small and the chain bound up between the derailleur and the big ring and I couldn't get it out. It's amazing how quickly you stop when your drive train is jammed. I ended up taking the rear wheel off to get enough slack in the chain to ease it out. I rode home very carefully, put the bike up in the rack and Thom discovered that the bolt was loose. He snapped the bolt when he was tightening it with a torque wrench. Saturday was an interesting day.
I've gotten use to the gear ratio on the double. I'm amazed by hills that I can ride up in the big ring. I have a 48 -36 - 24 on Fluffy and a 46 - 33 on the Legoas, who is still nameless.
I've been riding the Legolas a lot and now the saddle on Fluffy feels a little odd. I've been having subtle saddle issues since my Nova Scotia trip. The saddle I took to NS got a bit wet and one of the rivets pokes out after a while. You should have seen the sore I had after the Mt. Tam double! The saddle on Fluffy now is the one from the tandem, which is shaped for me to ride in a more upright position, since that's how I rode on the tandem. The saddle on the Legolas is a new Brooks Finesse and is shaping itself nicely to me. I may try flipping back to the pokey saddle again on Fluffy.
I've ridden Fluffy twice since I got the new bike. Once outside and I finally got my butt back on the trainer today. Trainer rides are a more focused workout for me, which is what I need to be doing now. Although it was a beautiful day when I got home...
I've got almost 275 miles on the Legolas in the month I've had it. At this point I wouldn't change anything.
Juice is gone. Time for me to log off. :p
