I rode one today. It was a nice bike! A full carbon at $1600 for the 2006 model.

Downside is that the components are mixed- 105's up front, Ultegra on the back.... hard for me to explain... and just basic no-name brakes.

I kind of wanted a bike with full Ultegra's from start to finish, but now I wonder if that's necessary.

And if this is a good deal, then maybe I could look at upgrading the components later.

Anyways... does anyone ride on of these? (Roubaix)

The components on mine are a mix of ultegra and dura-ace... I also got a year end close out... that sure helps the budget!

Mine is mixed: 2006 Roubaix Comp - ultegra rear, 105 front, 105 brakes, FSA crank.
I love it. I'm sure I'd love full ultegra too, and who am I kidding, I'd love dura-ace too, but for the money, this bike is amazing. I tried the model with a triple ring and 105 rear, but this double ultegra rear was SO much nicer to shift. It was worth the extra money..and still reasonable.

I swapped bars and saddle to women's. And I've got the bar phat with the gel pads (the thinner one--2mm I think?). It's great :D

That is exactly the bike I was looking at!

I just wasn't sure about the mixed gears... but as the bike shop said... I could upgrade later... as long as I have a solid frame to work with.

The one I tested had a triple on front... but Ultegra's on the back... not a 105.

Of course, it wouldn't be prudent of me to buy a bike... until after I pay for Grad school in Jan/Feb/March. Dang, that sounds really far away!

And, I did just buy a tri bike (only $500 though!). My boyfriend would freak if I bought a second bike 2 weeks later. Then again, he doesn't live me with...HA!

OH well, I do want to test more bikes before I buy... but this will be "on the list".

Yes, the tape looks really good.

I just love anything from the United States, I have several MTB T shirts, my water bottle I bought on ebay came from Colorado Springs Bike Shop and I would go mad if anybody pinched it off my bike.

Kinda funny when I realised the bike tape came from over here in the UK, so I have book marked the link.

My handle bars have seen better days, although I don't think tape is generally put on MTB's, I think your tape is well cool! Might be tempted to try it.

I thought the ultegra / dura-ace combo was only on the Pro model.. ? (would've been nice to get that on my Comp :) )
