19 degrees for the ride in. Well, two layers on the bottom, three on top, thick socks, thermal skull cap and bulky gloves did the trick. I was toasty the whole way in. In fact, the only time I had problems with it being cold was when I stopped at a traffic light and my glasses would fog up!

On a side note, I was told by a co-worker that I was 'nucking futs' for riding in the cold! (swap the first two letters...) Typical response for this time of year.

I couldn't finda spare broom, and didn't want to use my one reasonably good one (good because I never use it, but that's another story:o ).

None of the other 9 or 10 bikes out there in the wind had costumes either. Our temperature was 40 degrees but falling. It'll be nippier later in the week... not 19 though...

Oh, be it duly noted, though, that somebody (not a biker) actually asked me "what bike did you wear?" to a ride :D :D :D

ohh! I am shivering just thinking about you poor people where it is cold. I was saying it was cold last night (56) what the heck am i complaining for! I can't take a ride today cause it takes all day to get our house ready for tricker or treater's. and my husband had to go kayak fishing this morning so when he gets home it will be a huge rush to get things ready. I will be dreaming of tomorrows bike ride.......Be safe today all riders

I didn't go costumed either. I did hill training today. Think I'm improving, until I looked at my previous times on Bikejournal.com. :( The janitor here is dressed like Rocky Balboa. I've got a complete Timex/Cannondale kit at home, But i'm not sure if the office is ready for purple shorts:rolleyes: Had just a little bit of sun for once.

I already posted about my morning ride as a witch in the commuting section. It was a total blast! Didn't talk about the temp though. The official low was 17 but the temp at our house was in the single digits when I left for work. I stayed warm except for my feet which were total numb when I got to work.

Ah well, I get to do it all over again this afternoon. At least the temp has warmed up! It almost 35 degrees! :D bikerHen

And I thought I was cold this morning riding to work - have to admit my bare face and my very covered hands got pretty cold today and it was probably around 28!

Wow, we had a beautiful warm sunny Indian Summer day today in upstate NY! It was gorgeoous sunny, breezy, and 55-65 degrees today! I only wore my orange smartwool thin merino hoodie and my long Shebeest Tech tights (both from TE!). No base layers needed for a change.
DH and I played hookie from work and went out for breakfast followed by a 25 mile ride to the health food farm store. Lots of hills, but they didn't seem as bad to me as they used to. At the store, I had a big bowl of miso broth with carrots and spinach- GOOD biking fuel. Got home and adjusted my saddle, then cleaned up the dead garden a bit before getting back to work this afternoon and evening.
It was really a wonderful day.

Took advantage of the 65 degree day here in MA. I took my bike to school and brought my clothes, etc yesterday. I was out on the bike at around 2:50 and got back around 3:55. Perfect for this time of year. Even if I rush home and don't help any kids after school, I might have 45 minutes of daylight left. This way, i was able to get in a 17 mile ride from Hudson into Bolton, Stow, Boxborough, and back. I rode my old commute with an additional 4 miles. I hadn't ridden outside for 5 days, so i felt really strong (maybe the running is helping?). I only used my granny gear on one steep hill, which was amazing.
When I got back to school, the last 3-4 people were leaving and they were amazed to see me rolling in to the parking lot and putting my bike on my car.
Good ride!
