- Sprint triathlon in New Jersey. Goal: Finish in under 2 hours.

July - Volunteer at Ironman Lake Placid. Probably a 5K, too.

Sept. - Danskin NY Metro sprint triathlon. My "A" race for the year. Goal: Finish in 1 hr. 45 minutes?

Oct. - 5K. "A" race. Goal: Run the entire thing.

WOW! You have a serious year planned!

As for me, I think I will have to play it by ear to see how my running comes along. If I can run without pain for a 5K, I might try to do a tri once very couple of months.

And I want to do the MS150 again... but not sure if I will do one in May or October. I have to see what the boyfriend is up for.

I might also take my shot at the Hotter N Hell 100 miler again... BBBUUUTTT... if my tri stuff/running coming along, then I might not have time to train for it.

I would like to try to do an Olympic distance tri next year, as I want to do a Half Ironman and then an Ironman by 2010... BBBBUUUTTTT... if my running is not coming along... that will not happen.

So yea, it's all up the air.

Good luck with your plans for 2008!!!!

I have yet to plan out my year.

Dumb question time. How do I find out if their is an MS150 near me? Also, I have googled to find out if their are any runs to benefit stroke research and came up with nothing.

Okay, now I need to seriously think about what I realistically do.

Check http://www.nationalmssociety.org/MS%20Bike%20Tour.asp

Good luck.

(I want a lot of events so I can't quit exercising. Plus I'll probably see some rapid improvement yet.)

It's time for me to plan out my year also. There is so much I want to do but I will look to fill in specifics in the next few months, not all today.

Here's what I am thinking:

Jan/Feb/March:
indoors - spin, lift, swim n run.
outdoors - snowshoe 1x week as snow permits

April:
5k & spring duathlon, time goals tbd later

May:
spring metric or greater?

Jun:
sprint tri #1

Jul:
volunteer IMLP & PMC long training rides
(Offthegrid bring your bike I know some great roads, not to mention the course!!)

Aug:
PMC
-week off-
then
sprint tri #2 around end of month

Sept:
Century month (will catch up to 3 but probably only go for 100 at one)
Greenway challenge as a relay

Oct:
Fall rec rides & repeat the du

it sounds aggressive but if I do 1/2 this I'd still be pretty happy. I might have to make some trades to maximize similar types of training for the different events. PMC is the firm one, and the rest will squish in around it somehow.

That'd be awesome! I like riding in New Jersey sometimes because it's so flat (at least, portions of it are). I'm hoping to do better in the swim, too. We'll definitely have to meet for a ride when it gets warmer.

Wow, I feel like a slacker!! You ladies sure have it figured out. ;)

So far I have planned on doing the Danskin sprint tri with my mother in law in August, and another sprint tri in July. I will also do a 12k run in May, maybe a 1/2 marathon in May again (the hilly 12k was a good builder for the HM). Would love to do a bike tour or century, too. The rest is all up in the air!

I really want to go for olympic and half-ironman (and yes, eventually IM someday!), but I think it might be too soon for HIM. I'll have to look around and see what's local. There are lots of sprint-to-oly bridge programs, but I haven't seen anything that jumps all the way to HIM. I suppose it's possible... but anything's possible ;)

Hi,
am completely new to forum and triathalon. I have supported my husband through tri's, HIM x 3 and one full IM. I have entered the HIM in the UK next June and have already started training in earnest.

I am a breast stroker only, my two kids spent four days teaching me to put my face in the water after 41 years and I am hoping to better my time for the distance which is just over the cut off at 106 mins. (I am not doing it for the time!) Husband set up my bike and I am doing 40 min turbo sessions and a long outdoor ride at the weekend.

Staggered the Great South Run last weekend which is 10 miles and didn't do very well as the weather was atrocious, but I know I can improve. Been out for two 40 min runs this week.

It is only one event, and doesn't look good compared to you guys, but I have been training for 6 weeks with 32 to go! until my first HIM!!

Ok, some tentative, some definite:

March 24 - National Half Marathon (tentative)

April - Promise Land 50k (tentative, most likely a definite)

June 3 - Mooseman Half Ironman (definite)

June - Viewtrail 100 century ride

June - Tri to Win (sprint tri - tentative - a fun one!)

September - Civil War Century (definite)

November 3- Florida Ironman (tentative, hopefully definite after registration opens this weekend)

That's what I have on the calendar for now. Several 5ks and 10ks will be interspersed for fun and possible sprint triathlons. I'm still considering Iron Girl next August - it's a great race, but have to determine my training, etc by that time for Florida IM.

I only have one race planned:

August: Danskin sprint tri. Goal: finish in 2 hrs.

Unfortunately it is the same weekend as the RSVP bike ride. (Seattle to Vancouver BC) And, of course, I wanna do both!

Thanks! Me too. If not, then I think I'll go for the Grand Floridian full distance. I've heard great things about that race series. But let's keep our fingers crossed for IM Florida!!

I've got several "event" rides planned but no real races.

May: Joe's Ride, 28 miles, a local charity ride in Olney, MD

June: American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure, Stillwater, NY, 50 miles (I did the 25 miler this year, my first real event ride)

August: Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon, 1k swim/30k ride/5k run, Columbia, MD (technically this is a race, but for me it really all about survival)

September: Civil War Century, 50 miler, Thurmont, MD (did the 25 miler this year)

October: Seagull Century, metric century, Salisbury, MD

Oh goodness, I have ideas, but who know what will actually happen. I know that I won't do all of these, but this is what I'm looking towards.

January - strength/base building focus
February - run focus - possible 1/2 mary, the Mercedes Mary in Birmingham
March - bike focus

April - Whistlestop Duathlon - part of the powerman series, just shorter distance than the full powerman; also swim focus

May - work on bricks - consider doing Oly distance this month - Memphis in May (Would change training schedule to get in more swimming earlier); also my first tri ever is this month (Y-tri in Birmingham) - may do it to see how I've changed

June - Buster Britton Tri (can you say hills - there is no flat section on the entire bike or run - the transition area is even on a hill; and some of these are pretty steep)

July - consider Chatanooga (Sp?) Oly Tri; also Wet Dog Tri

August - Hiwaay sprint (may just volunteer here), Mountain Lakes tri, Rocketman tri

September - Frantic Frog

October - duathlon, music city tri (I think this month - Oly - questionable)

November - Huntsville 1/2 mary

I just want to get in one olympic distance next year, and I have 2, maybe 3 to choose from. I'll probably do on average one race per month, and I'll try to peak for the WhistleStop Duathlon in April, whichever Oly I do, and then either Buster Britton or Rocketman.

Here's my tentative plans:

winter: indoor training, XC skiing and snowshoeing with the dogs

June: Tri For Real #1, olympic length, Sacramento, CA

July: Donner Lake International Tri., olympic length, Truckee, Ca I had to pull out of this one last year because of a calf injury.

August: *fingers crossed* Barb's Triathlon, HIM, Sacramento, Ca . I hope, I hope I can do this length.

(Sacramento in the summer is SOOO hot.)

The MS Society moved the PA Dutch bike tour from June to ... guess when ... July 21 and 22 (Ironman Lake Placid weekend! I be volunteering).

So, I was really bummed.

But then I looked further on the MS Society Web page, and they moved the City to Shore, too!!!! Last year it was on the same weekend as A race triathlon is going to be next year. They moved it to the end of September. I can do City to Shore (N.J.), and it's even better because it's MUCH flatter than PA Dutch.

So, boo but yeah!

Do you know of any Triathlons in Europe/UK that I could do. I like doing the Sprints or short distance tri's only. I live in Amsterdam now and am from the states. I went to trimapper but the races seem for triathletes who are really really serious.

I am looking back at my list of races that I posted in November, and laughing. My entire focus has changed.
Several of the races have been canceled this year, and I am going Xterra...my how things have changed.

look on trifind.com

I am not sure if they list only races in the states or not......

I am new to the forum but this post looks fun.

April - SLC Half Marathon, goal to finish under 2:30.

June - Little Red Riding Hood, goal is to complete the metric century.

July - Bryce Canyon 1/2 Marthon, goal finish under 2:15, very fast course 7+ miles of pretty serious down hill. Echo Triathlon (sprint distance) this will be my 3rd tri, so my goal is to finish while not making the same mistake from my first two.

August - Jordanelle Triathlon (sprint distance), goal same as Echo

September - Ogden Valley Triathlon (sprint distance)

October - The Other Half Marathon, Moab, UT - this one has some nasty hills, my goal is to prepare for them.

December - Las Vegas Marathon (fingers crossed) my first full marathon.

I am sooooo excited.:p

Happy Training All
Jen

My schedule has changed somewhat from earlier this year. Right now I have only entered my first race. I'll get the others in when I know what my schedule will be.

April: Whistlestop duathlon - 4.5krun/ ~30K bike/4.5krun

May: Y-tri - 200yard pool swim/9mi bike/1.5mi run - this was my first tri ever so I want to see how I've improved

June: Buster Britton - sprint race with lots of rolling hills

July: Chatanooga (sp?) Olympic

rest of the year is still pretty open, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
