this is silver's hubby (feeling a little self-conscious on the team-ESTROGEN site).
Silver was in a 30mph wipe out today that left her with a couple of broken ribs, back bruises and some really nasty road rash:eek: . Bike is ruined, helmet cracked, but she's going to be OK, except for pain.
Here's my request:
Please post a long list of best wishes to her so she can come home tomorrow and "feel the love"...:D
No PMs please.
Update: She's up to five broken ribs, small pneumothorax (mildly collapsed lung?), and the pain is getting worse. In addition, now that I'm on the TE site twice in one day, I'm feeling a little 'girly'. Not sure if she'll be home today or not...
Good news is: a) I've done a lot of laundry today and b) I just bought the new Trek Medone she's been wanting to cheer her up. Shhh! It's still a secret...

Well Silver's testosterone laden DH, fear not - estrogen wipes off easily unless you are female :) .
I am so sorry that Silver had such an aweful accident, but am very glad to hear she is going to be alright. Please tell her to post details once she is able to motivate and in the frame of mind to share.
And Silver when you read this, know that I am sending you mental hugs and wishes for a speedy recovery. Why not milk this, and have the DH wait on you hand and foot?? I certainly would! ;)

(((silver))) Oops, hope the hug didn't hurt. ;) I'm so sorry to hear about your crash. 30 mph? Dang girl you're tough. Ribs are quite painful and take a long while to heal since breathing keeps them moving around. Just hang in there and go very slowly. If you ever feel like something isn't right or you're strangely out of breath, don't hesistate to call your doc ASAP.
Best wishes on a speedy recovery and I agree with CyclChyk, milk it. Actually, I think you'll find he'll need to do just about everything for you for a while anyway. When you're ready, I'd like to hear a little about what happened.
Take care! (and thanks silver's hubby for letting us know what happened and that she's ok.)

Silver you have a great DH. Glad he let us know you are down so we can send some much needed support your way. Take care and DO NOT, DO NOT rush to get back on a bike anytime soon. Let your body recover, no need to reinjure yourself, take it from me, off my bike going on 8 weeks now and possibly another 5 weeks to go. Let the body heal!!!!!
What a wonderful DH to think about getting on here for you and letting us know what happened. Thanks DH!!!
Silver I am very sorry you had such a bad wrech but am relieved to hear that you will recover and be fine. I hope you have a speedy recovery and aren't to terribly sore.

Hi -
Barb from Perry County here. I feel for you. I crashed last summer and I know what it's like to struggle through the healing phase. Be patient with your body. Listen to it as you mend day by day. I'm sorry about your bike. Make sure the doctors are NICE to you. You've earned the right to compassionate care. Focus on healing and feeling strong again. Let us know how things are going when you can.

30 mph!!!
you are one lucky lady!!!
Rest, rest and more rest. Let people love you and help you. They *like* to do it; so it is not an imposition or an admission of weakness or lack of independence.
Advice from personal experience:
Take the pain meds, Silver.
There are a zillion-ba-jillion kinds and one will suit you.
Pain just depletes our personal resources that are needed for getting well.
Good for your DH to post this

It was such a pleasure to have met you during the Hilly and I know you were nervous about riding after having ridden with the fellow who was killed on a ride. Please take care of yourself, take you pain killers (they ARE your friend, when you sleep your body heals) and when you are ready and totally healed, don't let this scare you off the bike. Silver - so sorry to hear this news. Seems like there have been so many crashes among TE gals this year. I had my big crash (fractured pelvis in 3 places, surgery) last year, so I can unfortunately relate to what you're going through and will continue to go through during your recovery for some time to come. However, I'll also say that I'm back to running, hiking, and riding (mountain more than road) now, and I appreciate what my body can do so much more than I did before I ever crashed and went through months of not being able to do much at all. I remember thinking "Will I ever be able to power walk again?" And now I'm running! Really puts things into perspective and helps you feel grateful for life itself.
You'll be in my thoughts. Be good to yourself and take all the time you need to come back.

well... adding my name to the many wishing you well... I crashed at 30kph 18mths ago and that was not pretty... 30mph??? Dont wanna think about it.
Wishing you speedy bone-knitting and easing of swollen bits... if you don't have it already get arnica... a cream to rub on the bruises (but not open wounds) and arnica liquid or tablets to work on the bruising from the inside.
If I had no other first aid thing in the house, I would have arnica...
