Ok- so maybe I'm the only "nerd" who is inserting the IV of the interent into my veins right now. On ironmanlive.com they are playing live video feed of the race- for 20 HOURS! This is the most exciting time of the year for me!!! :) I better get a pillow for my bum, and a arsenal of snacks for the day. I'm spending my day off glued to my computer screen!
Ok- gotta get back to the excitement!
Have a great day, ladies!

DAMN! I worked all night, now have vacuumed the apt, am eating my spelt pasta and veggies, and really must sleep. I want to stay up and watch KONA!!! OK. I'll go sleep for a few hours and get up and watch. Thanks for the reminder, Trigirl. I have a sticky note on my computer about it, but did it remind me? Nooo.... The NBC broadcast is 12/9/06, 4-6PM. Did I mention that the new guy has a huge flat screen TV? :D

Get some sleep, Lise- then come back and join me later today. It'll be on ALL day, so even if you come back tonight, you'll still see some great action!!!
It'll be on until about 5 am! Yikes- don't think I'll catch the last place finishers! :p
Now get some sleep!

Cool, I wanted to watch this. :) And, it provides the perfect excuse for me to be watching for my mail carrier. I know he has a package for me, I just know it.

I'm watching! These guys are AMAZING. Just started the marathon. Incredible how they can run off the bike.

Normann had a 4:18 bike split- that was the time for my first half of the IM bike that I did last month- simply amazing!!!!
And look at them flying on the marathon... that's why they're the pros!
I wonder if we'll see a sub 8 hour race- could be a slight possiblity!
WOW!!

This is interesting--I'm hearing the music I run to in the background at Kona. Tom Petty, Katrina and the Waves, Three Doors Down.

My friend Gail is holding her own on the bike- check her out in the athlete finder - bib # 708.

But Molly Zhar the overall womens winner at IMLP (in a field w/ no pro women) is KICKING ASZ!!!!! She is such a stud!!
You want some inspiration, check out her splits bib # 1723, and keep in mind that she used to be 70 lbs ovrweight!! And like alot of us she was last picked for teams at school. WOW!! It just goes to show what hard work and dedication will do for you!!!
GO MOLLY!!!! GO GAIL!!!!!!!

OMG, you guys. Those of you who've done an IM have all my respect. I've done 4 Int'l distance tris, and each one feels so long to me. It's one-quarter of the distance. I do not know how you do it. What toughness, mentally and physically.

What a comeback. :D Good for him. I love this sport.

But Lise that is where the mind comes in. My coach once told me, if you tell your mind "I'm going to run 8 miles" it conditions itself to that distance and rarely will you feel like running longer. But you will be able to handle the distance. So if you tell yourself "i'm going to do an IM. It's going to be long, and it's going to be hard, but if I take the race in little chunks I CAN do it" you will be sucessful. It's all up top! You can't let your mind talk you out of it. You just have to know how to mentally break it up. And well, or course, you have to TRAIN. There is just no easy way around that. But if you put your miles in it will take you to the finish line race day.

I just love her!!! She was so nice and encouraging to me at IMAZ!! I remember her coming by me on the bike and encouraging ME!! Silly old ME! She has to be one of the kindest speedy girls I have ever come along! (note to those girls in San Diego) I am soo happy for her!!! :)

I have a huge grin on my face. What a champion!

I always think of her as "Denise's girl, Michellie" cuz she was so good to you at IMAZ. That's the heart of triathlon for me. :D

I agree! I also love Natascha badmann. She is another class act. She's actually my idol!
I'm just loving this coverage! I wish I could tape it!! The nbc coverage will pale in comparison I'm sure. They'll use the earthquake angle I'm sure...

I'm so teary watching this. I didn't cry at my own IM, but I'm bawling buckets tonight. I wish I could/wanted to stay up until 5 am to watch the last people come in. Too cool!!!!
Makes me want to do it all over again... don't worry IM- I'm coming back for you in 08 (or 09, or 10- when my muscles have forgotten the last one) :)

10:21 and some change! WOW!!!
She's going to "winter" here in Phoenix so I'm hoping some of her speed will rub off on me!!! :D
Ok, so I'm with you tri girl, I am STOKED to get out there and train tomorrow! It reminds me why I push myself out the door.
Ahhh one day if I'm lucky, maybe, just maybe, I'll get a kona lottery slot. But for right now it's only a sweet (and salty) dream.....

That was so awesome to watch last night. :D Too bad I had to go to bed and miss the last portion. It's great that one of the nice girls in the sport won. And her husband seems to be so sweet. Kinda disappointed that Karin Thuerig, the Swiss cyclist (won World's TT a couple of times) pulled out during the run when she was in the top 10. Wonder what happened. Personally, I'm just amazed that anybody can do that. The human body and mind is capable of so much.
