it's pretty easily done with the cards and a book. I tend not to like Crowley decks, but some people really think he's God's Gift to philosophy...
It's all in interpretation... for those who know their tarot, for a year and a half, every reading I got had the towers in it. Then, I left xdh and I've never had the towers come up since. I guess change HAD to happen.

I've used the Crowley Thoth Tarot but didn't get on that well with them. I have several decks but the one I use most and I find, for me, are the most accurate are The Tarot of the Cat People. They're also a very pretty deck. The only problem I have with them is when I bring them out and am doing a reading for someone my cats come in and sit on them:rolleyes:
Great story, Kit! Are you still reading? Anything interesting coming up these days?
Python, I love how your cats just know. Very cool.
Me, I only read the tarot when I've had a glass or two of wine. And thank you for the reminder, with my GB being so stupid, alcohol is actually rather soothing and I've been having a glass every night. Time to start doing regular readings for me! yay!
oh, yes, and I use the Robin Wood deck. A lot like the Ryder Thwaite, but the people are prettier, and there are three FABULOUS cards: Death, the Devil and the special one to this deck, the Nothing card - totally blank like a zen block.

I got into reading runes (shake the bag and drop one out, look it up and see what the "message of the day" was, or do a full reading) and haven't done a real tarot reading since last week.
That one (I only read cards upright. I suppose adding the 'reverse' meaning would make it more accurate, but I want to avoid that kind of negativity... =P) I lay past, present, future, with conscious things and Subconscious influences. Past- V of Wands, Present- IV of Cups, Future- the World. Conscious influence- Queen of Swords Subconscious influence-II of Cups
Interesting, huh? I can kinda see it, but don't want to elaborate, really.
xdh had a clay runeset made for him with Thor's hammer pressed into the backs of the runes... (I joked I had Wyrd tattooed on my back. People would ask to see, and I would show them... Some took more explanation than others...)

By the way the pic is from the NOVA tarot by Running Press. I got it form Borders in the US, can also be found at Amazon. The little book that comes with it is not of much value but I just love the imagery.
There's also a miniature version of less than an inch height which I have, it's cute as a talisman (not really workable).

I have Joan Bunning's book, "Learning the Tarot". I like that everything has a postitive spin in her definitions.
I have a couple decks, but stopped using my first deck because I pulled the Hermit 3 or 4 times in a row (my aunt and I were playing with tarot in the other room) the very moments my dad died. Too weird for me. Then I bought a Waite deck. I think it's sad that the dike who actually drew the Waite deck gets no credit for her work. Well, she gets credit, but the deck isn't named after her.
Like Kit, I only read "upright".
If someone drew an entire deck that was biking, I'd be all over it.
Haven't done any card-play in a long time. Maybe I should pull a card o' the day for today. (kinda like Dove chocolate fortunes)
Six of Wands. "Triumph, acclaim, pride."

Mmmmm, chocolate....:D
I pulled the reading that Kitsune mentioned
Past - Queen of Pentacles (reversed)
Present - Queen of Wands (reversed)
Future - Strength
Consious Influence - Knight of Pentacles
Subconcious Influence - Ace of Wands (reversed)
I like to think of reversed cards as an indication that "something" is blocking the energy of the card....that something may be something we have control over, or we may not. I personally think that my wands reversed is because of my current health problem that is reducing my activity and quality of life. I hope that the Strength in the future is SOON! :p
Any comments on the reading from anyone would be most welcome....

Wow. A lot of reversed cards. Hmm. Hopefully that Strength does come in, soon! And I'm not sure about your health situation, but that sounds like a plausible explanation. I've always liked that Knight of Pentagrams. He was xdh's card, incidentally. He managed to somehow have it come up in most (60%ish) of his readings. Funny.
Knot-
Too weird about the Hermit card being pulled... strange things like that happen. I didn't put much into the Tower the first couple of times it happened (I figured it was about work or something) but in the midst of our parting (and it was hard. We both still felt for each other, but... well no details here...) my adopted uncle drew for me, and .... towers didn't come up. In its place was the Empress. It confused the **** out of me. Then I met DGF and all has been revealed.
Reading today
Past- Knight of Wands
Present- Page of Pentacles
Future- Death
Conscious- 2 of Pentacles
Subconscious- 9 of Swords
Not happy about the 9 of swords. Knot, do you have a positive divination on that one? Both the conscious and subconscious seem very tied to the future card.
I'm wondering if it means that my rash actions in the past will make sense and ultimately lead to change, if I have to go through a little suffering beforehand?
Oh, and my job interview went really well...

My faves were the Universal Waite Smith. (The group I hung with when I was into tarot always added the "Smith" because Pamela Smith was the artist.)
I love the images, and the colors in the Universal deck are so much prettier.
Pamela Smith's original (Rider Waite Smith):
http://www.drizzle.com/~fools/artwork/graphics/tarot.JPG
And the Universal Waite Smith:
http://www.bellbookandcandle.citymaker.com/i/tarot/uwfool.jpg
I had some good books, but they were more about learning about yourself than the future. I was never any good at it, other than what I learned about myself, but nothing about predicting ever worked.
kitsune,
my book on the tarot has a long description of the 9 of swords, that isn't all bad....
first it focusses on our own worry that we've done something wrong, not necessarily that we have, but that we feel we have...
it suggests using the card as a caution by trying to ensure that you are making the best choices.
The last line says "Even a small change can make all the difference"
And yes, it could only be noting a vulnerable spot in your life, or it could be a warning that the path you are on may be a difficult one.
My own experiences remind me that difficult times have helped me to expand my gift (photography), pay more attention to my intuition about people I meet, take better care of my own needs, and to reach out to people I trust...and I think they have made me a better and more compassionate person, even while still being more cautious in new circumstances.

I started out with the Classic Rider-Waite and then progressed to a "modern "deck (Mary Hanson Roberts) Which I am not completely happy with either but I like the colours and the pencilling
I pay *a lot* of attention to reversed cards and see them as more personal and emotional and "hidden" ( from my own self ie unrecognised by my conscious mind) than uprights.
I use the classic Celtic spread but just as often one called Diana's Arch that I read about in a feminist spirituality journal way back in the 80's which I find useful because with it I have to take my intellect off the hook.

Tarot for Trek: (in one paragraph)
Each card has a description that refers to some aspect of your life. You are meant to "change gears" in your head and look at that aspect if you pull that card. Gets you out of a thinking-rut.
My pulling the 9 of Cups and the Ace of Cups would be like getting "When two hearts race both win" and "Trust your instincts in love" in Dove chocolates.

Wow - you gals got me interested in this again. My mom had given me a Tarot deck and book last Christmas; I played with it for awhile, then put it away. Tonight, after reading this thread, I pulled it out. Today I was given a new, challenging assignment at work. I am both terrified and excited about it, as it means an entirely new area of learning and responsibility, and my manager seems to think that I am just the person for the job.
Not having much time, I just did a one-card pull tonight: 8 of Wands. The "title" of this card in my book is "Greater Responsibilities". The text talks about moving onto the new from and having the resolve to leave the old behind -- me to a "t". I've been doing the same thing at work for many years, and this new project is a departure, a move to newer, much more state-of-the-art technology.
Kinda cool, eh?

I just did a one-card pull. It was 5 of Swords. "Self interest, Discord, Open Dishonor" All about being selfish, letting the ends justiy the means, and losing your moral compass.
Ok, mighty negative card, eh? But there is more.
"Sometimes this card implies a need to put your own interests first. If you are being abused or taken advantage of, you must get free. ...hold to a larger view of who you are. Find the solution that is best for everyone, including yourself." -Joan Bunning
Not quite so negative.
So, this card reminds me of a situation I'm dealing with, and I have two ways to change gears and think of this situation. Essentially, "am I being selfish, or am I taking care of myself?"
Just random proddings that encourage you to think "risk free" in another direction.

I think it has to do with taking care of yourself. About that "situation"... you deserve so much more than you've received. Don't settle for less than true love and happiness. I know the one your looking for is out there. I hope you find each other soon. Don't give up. :)
***I wander off shaking my head, thinking that I should follow my own advice in this area... (sigh)***
This is fun!
So, inspired by this thread, I went to my zen den, turned on the star light and the turtle light and the crystal salt lamp, shuffled my tarot deck and spread them out on the rainbow sarong covered table with the glass and the shells and the little zen garden on it....and I pulled
Past - Queen of swords
Present - The hanged man
Future - the Magician
Consious influence - 9 of swords reversed
sub concsious influence - Queen of pentacles
Yes, I used to be strong and have self confidence
Now I am waiting for results of the latest medical test, and hoping for a recommendation of surgery (amazing as that is to me!)
And I am developing some relationships with potential customers for my pictures.
That covers past present and future.
The 9 reversed in my little book talks of the end of suffering and about patience; alternately, if we disregard that it is reversed it is about suffering and illness - which I'm smack dab in the middle of.
The only one I don't really get is the subconcious influence of the queen of pentacles. Who is the warm generous woman with my best interests at heart? I'm not sure what the reference to gifts, intelligence and thoughtfulness really are....except that I feel very grateful to have moved where we have....
Any thoughts are welcome!

Hmm, sometimes the face cards don't actually represent a person perse, but attributes we may even have within ourselves?? Of course there IS the EARTH Mother HERSELF??
You have made a recent move and feel that it's been a good thing, perhaps the path that led you where you are physically now could be the gift, you had the intelligence to make the choice to move?

Aaaaahhh, dark is my fav. And as a bonus, it's good for you too. Did ya know:>>>
It has 10x more antioxidants than strawberries, increases good cholesterol and lowers bad by preventing it from oxidizing. It can actually help you lose weight if eaten in small (1oz) quantities at certain times of the day. (not all day long, but that would be nice) It's good for your heart too and can help in chest congestion.
The only drawback is it can relax the esophageal sphincter muscle at the diaphragm, which if you have GERD or mild reflux, isn't so good for you. I say, just don't eat laying down (who does this anyway) and let gravity work for you.
I haven't bought any of the Dove chocolates yet, so please have one for me Trek420 and let me know what my future holds! (Though, ultimately, I believe we create our own luck and destiny. :) ;))

-Went to Mimi's site for a Celtic Cross on the Rider-Waite.
the atmosphere surrounding the central issue: Knight of Cups
-the obstacle that stands in your way - it may even be something that sounds good but is not actually to your benefit. The Lovers
-your goal, or the best you can achieve without a dramatic change of priorities: Two of Cups (Love)
-the foundation on which the situation is based: Knight of Pentacles
-a passing influence or something to be released: Six of Swords (Science)
-approaching influence or something to be embraced: Two of Pentacles (Change)
-your role or attitude. Five of Pentacles (Worry)
-your environment and the people you are interacting with: Three of Swords (Sorrow)
-your hopes, fears, or an unexpected element that will come into play: The Tower
-the ultimate outcome should you continue on this course: Strength
Huh. Didn't know the Rider-Waite deck was made by the Golden Dawn. The things you learn! It scares the heck out of me to see the Tower come up (again!) Hopefully it's in reference to the hard work I'm doing to change my lifestyle- going to the gym 3x/wk and working hard on the things I'm not so good at. It's hard and hurts a little, but it'll bring strength. I just don't want to go through the kind of pain the Tower brought me last time.
So I go back and ask the deck "Will the tower bring the same change as last time?" Single card.
Answer? The Sun. "A time of contentment and freedom from restraints. Creative inspiration. Achievement, success, and warmth. Light and love in personal or business matters. Happiness and faithfulness in a relationship." So... I don't think so.

same site same Celtic cross same cards:
King of Swords: The essence of air, such as a clear blue sky: A mature leader of unwavering ethics and indisputable authority. An incorruptible judge, whose devotion to the law cannot be swayed by emotion or material concerns. Perfect clarity of thought, directness of action, and eloquence of speech. One who, like a great general, inspires not love or devotion, but absolute trust and loyalty.
The Lovers: A caring and trusting relationship. Beauty and inner harmony. A decision calling for emotional control and faithfulness to spiritual values.
Page of Wands, when reversed: The dark essence of fire behaving as earth, such as dry wood: The surprising appearance of a new passion or inflammatory news. A trickster who can unexpectedly ignite a dangerous situation. The intensity and childish imagination that can send even the most stable venture spinning wildly out of control. Can represent a person outwardly timid, but harboring unexpected inner fury. May indicate the birth of a child.
The Hierophant, when reversed: Authoritarianism. Inflexible and dogmatic thinking. A calcified old regime. Bad or incompetent advice. Inability to hear a higher or inner voice, or pretending to hear it for personal gain.
The Moon: Cyclic transformation covering the mysterious forces of the night. Feminine beauty and the intoxicating vitality of youth. The metamorphosis from beauty to beast and vice versa. Occult forces, sensitivities and intense dreams. Dangerous situations and perilous times.
Seven of Wands (Valor): Standing courageously for your beliefs in the face of adversity. Fear of failure overcome by the will to succeed. Great obstacles met with heroism and determination. Inner strength brought to bear at a critical moment.
Page of Swords, when reversed: The dark essence of air behaving as earth, such as a sandstorm: The approach of an unexpected challenge, met with muddled thought and unjust action. A person filled with a destructive appetite for all matters of mind and logic. Voyeurism, espionage, and misguided witch hunts. The use of clever argument and eloquent speech to mask the truth.
The Hanged Man: Pausing to reflect. Surrendering to an experience. Adjusting to new ideas through sacrifice. Opening oneself to intuition and enhanced awareness. Letting go of past patterns and growing beyond them. Inner peace, faith, and serenity.
Nine of Swords (Cruelty): Debilitating mental anguish or ill health. Being dragged down by the dishonor of others. Participation in a shameful or regrettable act. Inescapable guilt, mistrust, and doubt. May indicate a death or other catastrophic loss.
Five of Swords (Defeat), when reversed: Refusing to achieve success through personal degradation. Friendship maintained through the abandonment of a dishonorable gain.

I've been reading Tarot for years!
Favorite deck: Motherpeace (round cards). Favorite books for interpretation: Motherpeace-A Way to the Goddess Through Myth, Art and Tarot and Tarot Handbook by Angeles Arrien.
The Motherpeace deck can be interpreted differently. Round cards mean you'll have cards that are tilted right or left as well as reversed. Right tilt means the energy is being pushed, or you are pushing the energy. Left tilt means the energy is being held back. Motherpeace book goes into Goddess mythology when interpreting a card.
The Tarot Handbook interprets "bad" cards positively - i.e., a seven of swords is the central sword knowing what it wants and the other six being the "yes but" tapes. It says: "In the next seven weeks or seven months you are no longer willing to sabtoge what it is that you want. The number seven is associated with the Chariot which is the motivator of change..." I like books that give solutions.
The Tarot Handbook has a section about Tarot & numerology. You can find your birth and soul cards and the card that represents your current year, (growth symbol) through your birthday+the year. The growth symbol goes like this:
Month of your birthday + date of your birthday plus current year of your birthday
So, I was born 8/18 and I'm 52.
8+18 = 26.
2006 + 26 = 2032
2+3+2 = 7.
So my current growth symbol is seven which is the major arcana Chariot.
Note - if this was before 8/18, I would be 51. The year of my birthday (the year that I turned 51) would be 2005.
If your total equals a double digit, do not reduce it further but go to that major arcana card.
If anybody needs help, or you want me to post the other formulae, let me know.

I'm a 10 - the Wheel of Fortune, my birthday was just a few weeks ago, so I'm guessing it will be a year of ups and downs.
Not surprising. I'm currently waiting for the go ahead for gallbladder surgery, man, the medical system works slowly!! Once that is over, I hope to go through a decent recovery and finally be able to work on training this year so I can ride my bike faster and stronger.

I'm a 6- the Lovers. (geez... the Lovers have come up a lot for me lately....)
Harmony and union, choices to be made using intuition and not intellect. Difficult decisions to be made not necessarily about love. Some form of test and consideration about commitments. Abstract thought, internal harmony and union, second sight. Possibly a struggle between two paths.
I've gone off intuition in almost all of my choices in my current relationship (because if you look at my decisionmaking and then look for logical basis, you'd freak) Interesting thoughts on commitment, etc. hmm. I like that, Dogmama. =)

Mimi- 9 is the Hermit. A good time to meditate and see the forest for the trees.
Caution. Discretion. Need for prudence. Counsel sought and taken. Inner calm. A need to reach into one's inner resources. Assimilation. Planning. A wise guide or spiritual mentor. A time to stand back and reflect upon circumstances.

Devotion to a worthwhile cause. Temporary suspension of progress. Flexibility of mind and a willingness to adapt to changes. Sacrifice in the present to reap benefit in the future. A waiting period. Rebirth. Sacrificing one thing to obtain another. Transformation. Circumstances literally turned on their head.
12 - The Hanged Man

Kitsune06 "then you're 11. Justice. Amicable and favourable resolution of conflicts. Triumph over bigotry and prejudice."
ok, good so far
"Legal action. Litigation. Contracts. Settlement. Divorce. Sometimes marriage depending upon the other cards and normally only when marriage contracts, legal or financial documents are a necessary part of the intended union."
uhm, sounding like someone who demands a prenup?
"Clarity. Fairness. Arbitration. A straightforward choice. Judgement."
Sounds like I'm running for election for Judge, I prefer chocolate and I'm outa Dove.

Xrayted, 5 is the Heirophant.
Ritual and routine, religious guidance and authority, education in its formal sense. A seeker after knowledge and wisdom. Good sound advice, teaching and constructive counsel. Marriage, partnerships and morality. The definitions I have are out of the book. LBTC gives much better, more concise ones, I think.
Geonz- 13- Death.
The beginning of a new life. As a result of underlying circumstances transformation and change. Major changes. The end of a phase in life which has served its purpose. Abrupt and complete change of circumstances, way of life and patterns of behaviour due to past events and actions. Alterations.
Xrayted - 5: The Hierophant
represents official learning, especially in groups like religions, schools, clubs, teams, companies and societies.
structured with ruls and assigned roles
emphasis on belief systems - facts, rules, procedures and rituals
learning with experts or knowledgeable teachers
Geonz - 13: Death
not a permanent state, but a transition into a new state
to grow, to move, to live, we must die to the old to give birth to the new
Each moment we die to the present to the future can unfold.
death suggests getting down to basics, to cut out the unnecessary
ride your fate and see where it takes you

You artist types need to design a Bicycle Tarot.
The Fool: instead of a dude about to step off a cliff, you could have a rider without a helmet
The Lovers: an MTB and a road bike
The World: an open bike trail
The Devil: flatted tire
Major arcana would be fun, but I can't quite figure out how you'd include bikes in the minor arcana. Except as background pictures. (hee hee, 4 of Swords could have a bike hanging from a repair stand with it's wheels off)

the lovers card represents two diverging paths and often the choice between them. I suppose for a tandem, there would be the choice between front and back, but the mtb and roadie are much more different...
...is that the idea?

Well, the Lovers is about cross-roads and choices and opposites, too. A tandem would be good for 2 of Cups (connection, joining, sharing)
past - Wheel of Fortune (hey, I changed jobs & moved to a new city!)
present - Two of Cups (DH and I have a very strong partnership, gets me through just about anything)
future - The World! (I will realize my heart's desire)
c inf - Queen of Wands (radiantly healthy and fit, attractive, energetic doer....but she is reversed which may mean her energy is blocked. Yes, by the gallbladder that needs to be removed, and this inactivity certainly blocks the feeling that I am an attractive and vital person.....however, I continue to try to focus on that element of myself, so I will use my decisions and thought processes to change the orientation of this card and its influence.)
sc inf - Three of Wands (vision of the future, move fearlessly forward...but he is also reversed. Does this indicate that I am fearfull of moving forward? Or does this mean I need to be patient in moving forward, take my time and assess things greater before following my dreams? I have several possibilities with my photos for allowing this passion of mine to contribute to my physical income. I am pursuing these, but I am not rushing blindly forward, and, yes, they scare me for reasons I just can't put my finger on....)
All comments are welcome on your own interpretation....
Thank you for leading me back to the cards again. I am thinking deeper about my direction than I have in a long time.

Thanks Kit and LBTC. But, what happens when I have a b-day? I guess I go to a 6? - The Lovers. All about harmony and union, ok. Difficult decisions to be made, feeling torn in 2 different directions... hmmm, all ready there. Geez, I hope that part doesn't go on for a whole year. :(
I guess it's another sign that I better get on with making up my mind about a certain personal situation. Difficult decisions, indeed. *sigh*

In Motherpeace, that card is called Crone. The picture is an old women listening to the wind in front of a path that forks into three directions. Crone is my life sign.
In Motherpeace, it is "learning to hear with your inner ear." It says "You are at a crossroads, a time of decision and renewal. Hekates takes you down into the unconscious and guides you through it, showing you where your troubles are and ofering choices and possibilities you may never have previously dreamed of."

13 is Death/Rebirth. Letting go of old behaviors, like a snake shedding its skin. Maybe letting go of relationships that are not good for you any longer or breaking a pattern that is unhealthy.

Yes, a friend gave them to me a few years ago. They do take a lot of room and more time, but, yes, the specific messages can be more helpful once in awhile.

Today I learned that the last test showed my gallbladder is functioning normally. Surgery is not necessarily the answer, yet I had hung my hopes on it. I feel defeated.
Next step is a referral to a gastroenterologist. I'm guessing the wait is about 2 weeks. We'll see.
So I pulled one card, asking what I should be doing.

Interesting that you would pull a major arcana card. This card is self trust and going within to find answers. Trusting what you feel inside, a need for harmony. Knowing that you have all of the resources you need inside. I would think that if you meditate on what is going on, you might get a sense of what you need. Also, as a number two, it represents balance. You can look at the number twos in the minor arcana as possible offshoots of this interpretation. You need to trust what you feel. You had said (I think) in a previous post that this thread has led you back to the cards. Interesting that you would now pull this card.
I would hold this card in my left hand and go into a meditative state. Ask the Goddess to show you where you need to go to start your journey. Shuffle the deck and cut it three times. Fan it out and wait. Let the energy of the card and of the Universe guide you to your correct card. When you are ready, with eyes closed, select it.
If that is a tad too "woo woo" - try doing a meditative body scan and see where the energy is blocked. OK, maybe that is too woo-woo too. If you have access to a Reiki level two or three, he or she might be able to sense where your energy is blocked.

Try to be patient while you wait for the doctors to figure out what is wrong. Do listen to your instincts that there is a physical cause for your discomfort, but trust that the human body is still very much a mystery and it may take time to find the root of the problem. Hang on to your inner strength during this time.
That's my read.. good luck

2. Six Pentacles
3. Seven Pentacles
4. Four Pentacles
5. (Judgement) - reversed
6. (Two Wands) - reversed
7. (Emperor) - reversed
8. Seven Swords
9. Magician
10. (Nine Cups) - reversed
I followed with a fan spread and pulled these three cards
1. (King Pentacles) - reversed
2. (Justice) - reversed
3. (3 Wands) - reversed
Mary and Dogmama, thank you for your thoughts on my card....and your ideas. I forgot to say that she was reversed.....if you have new or revised comments or ideas, please let me know.

ok.. i've had tarot many times.. mmm... dim sum.. but i've never had a reading so i went to mimi's site and i let it choose for me.
asked for a sginificator? so i chose the queen of swords
then it went and did a cross and triangle spread with a palladini deck. btw i have no idea of what i'm typing.
anyway so this is what i got.. and i have no idea how to read any of this and the side seems to just lay out the cards with not much explanation or not much to this newbies eyes, anyway..
i'm not sure how much you need so i just copy and pasted.. sorry for the long post if you didn't need all this
The first card, the significator, is placed in the center of the cross. This card represents the prime energy manifest in your life. Queen of Swords
The second card, placed above the significator, represents Air. It describes your spirit, process of thought, and the influence of reason. The Star, when reversed: Lost hopes, doubt and failure. Physical health and mental outlook lost in the outer darkness. Desperation leading to blind faith in false solutions.
The third card, placed to the right of the significator, represents Fire. It describes your motivations, creative energies, and the influence of passion. The Empress: The essence of femininity and matriarchy. Creativity, productivity, and the foundation of civilization. Initiative and practical actions that promote prosperity, comfort and luxury. Fruitfulness and motherhood.
The fourth card, placed below the significator, represents Water. It describes your emotions, meditations, and the influence of love. Eight of Pentacles (Prudence): Dedicating yourself fully to a task. Learning a new craft or skill. Applying painstaking attention to detail. Industriousness and the efficient completion of tasks. Sticking with a project long enough to see it through.
The fifth card, placed to the left of the significator represents Earth. It describes your physical presence, position in life, and the influence of the material world. Four of Swords (Truce): A time of tranquility and intellectual repose in the midst of a great struggle. A temporary retreat from stress to regather inner strength, reaffirm convictions, reorganize thoughts, and formulate a new plan. The need for vigilance in a moment of calm. May suggest a withdrawal from the material world to find spiritual guidance.
At this point the cross is complete and the triangle is formed. The sixth card, placed on the bottom left of the triangle represents one of two opposing forces. Knight of Pentacles, when reversed: The essence of earth behaving as fire, such as molten magma: One slow to action, even in the most urgent circumstances. A force of nature that cannot be diverted from the wrong path. The voice of duty and honor utterly divorced from reality. Lack of imagination and the complete unwillingness to try a different approach, even if the face of complete failure. Idleness and stagnation.
The seventh card, placed on the bottom right of the triangle represents the force that opposes the bottom left card. These forces may be external, but they are frequently one's own inner archetypes in conflict. Two of Rods (Dominion), when reversed: The erosion of power and influence. Failing to articulate goals or establish a vision for the future. Being caught off guard, due to an inability to come to grips with the impact of past decisions. Obstinate and irresponsible leadership. Loss of interest, clarity, or faith in a venture.
The eighth card, the reconciler, is placed below the cross in the third vertex of the triangle. This is the force that will resolve the conflict between the bottom left and bottom right cards. By meditating on this force and bringing more of it into your life, you can bring the matter at hand to a swifter conclusion than would naturally occur. Ten of Cups (Satiety), when reversed: Dissipation, debauchery, and stagnation. Taking one's good fortune for granted. Problems in domestic and social matters. A false love or infatuation, leading to a lack of fulfillment.
The ninth and final card, placed in the center bottom of the triangle, represents the final outcome unless you change course. The Hanged Man: Pausing to reflect. Surrendering to an experience. Adjusting to new ideas through sacrifice. Opening oneself to intuition and enhanced awareness. Letting go of past patterns and growing beyond them. Inner peace, faith, and serenity.
btw, i'm a 12 if that matters as well?

I've been thinking about this. The Motherpeace book says (and I agree) that you are having trouble accessing your inner wisdom. You may need to take more action, e.g., an afternoon of reflection, writing and meditation, time on the yoga mat, etc., to reach what you know is true. I think my initial reaction about pulling another card and asking for guidance and/or consulting a Reiki practioner would hold too.

I have another question about the year thing. If I'm coming to the end of a Hanged Man year (which it certainly has been, professionally) would Death/Rebirth mean things are going to start moving again, or another slow year professionally?
The only changes I've been able to make were thrust on me; my own attempts to make changes have been stagnant, partially due to the fact that I haven't summoned the energy to put as much effort into it as I should.
So, just curious how a move from 12 to 13 would change things!
The Motherpeace book says (and I agree) that you are having trouble accessing your inner wisdom.
Lessee.....my inner know-it-all is in a snit because the doctors haven't figured this out. :D
You're right, though, she's so far painfully silent. I sat on my yoga mat last night, holding the card, breathing, trying to focus inwardly. Tried several different ways of trying to gain access. I didn't feel any revelations. Then I laid flat on the mat and gently pushed and prodded all through my belly. The discomfort is definitely located in the area of my liver and gallbladder. And, curiously, my stomach seems hard, but not painful.
During this morning's yoga session in the dark, I felt close to a revelation, a visualization just beyond my mind's eye. I'll try to not be surprised by that should it happen again tomorrow, and pay attention to what I see instead....
This may be progress. But my question is: If my inner wisdom says this is my gallbladder, but the tests are inconclusive at best, how do I convince a doctor that it's my gallbladder???
Too much to do this morning, to pull cards, though. We'll see what tonight brings.
Hugs and butterflies,

I would like a second opinion on something. I have been trying to figure out if I know the person that has been stalking and harrassing me on my local cycling forum. It started the day that I left to go to the Hilly Hundred early in October. Just before I was ready to leave for the event, someone posted a cryptic post first as "A riddle for you", then they posted it as a thread titled, "What weighs 300 pounds and smells like the craphouse door of a tuna boat?"
No one bit at first then someone finally answered "your feet? your lack of class?" Others then posted, "A SAG stop at the Hilly?" Finally just before I'd left the original poster then said, "It rides a Navigator 50! Any ideas?" That set off a storm of posts from many of the others on the forum who knew then EXACTLY who they were insinuating.. ME. It got worse before the thread was pulled while I was at the Hilly. The administrator disabled the phoney account and pulled the the thread.
When I came home the same person had signed up for 2 more accounts and was being beligerent (sp?) on another thread that was being discussed on a serious matter. I pointed out to the others that it was the same person (they'd used a variable of the false name the first account was signed under) and then I was under attack again. This time the person was going off about the fact that I can obviously ride a bicycle what was I doing collecting disability from the government. They went on saying that I was basically stealing from other people who needed the money more legitimately than I (they must think I'm rolling in dough NOT, I don't even have grocery money much any more and the only way I was able to do the Hilly was I volunteered to work and it paid for my trip) After they attacked me again, I said that they were a coward and that obviously they had nothing better to do with their life than to attack me or anyone else on the forum. The thread was pulled again and one of the two accounts disabled again.
It was quiet on the forum from the person for about a week, but odd things were happening to me OFF the forum. I was nearly hit by a box truck one day that didn't even honk before chalking up the brakes (that may have just been a freak occurance) and then twice in one day I was approached going to or coming from bus stops on my home from babysitting my grandsons. The first person approached me as I went to the bus stop just leaving my son's apartment and said "Hey, Witchy woman (I had a Halloween tshirt on)" I answered hello and didn't think anything of it until he asked where "My MAN" was and I said my husband was waiting for me at home. He then said, "Too bad, I was going to give you my number and I might have some money for you later." What the????? He walked away and I walked further in the other direction to watch for the bus which was due. I thought I saw him coming back in my direction again before the bus got to where I was standing.
That was strange enough, I got on the bus, transferred downtown and caught my bus home. When I crossed the main street towards home, someone in a truck blew their horn and I kept walking. As I approached my house (I'd turned down my street), I'd gotten on the phone to tell someone what had happened. While I walked down my street, the black truck that had honked at me pulled along side me with his window down! When he saw that I was on the phone, he pulled away and kept going, I told the person I was talking to on the phone what was going on and kept them on the phone until I got home and safely into my house. Ok, now I've been approached by two separate people in the same day I'm assuming for the SAME THING!!
Fast forward a couple days and I look to see they have attacked me AGAIN on the forum. This time they said, "HONK HONK, BET YOU THOUGHT I WAS GONE! Well, I see that the cattle truck is still going. Too bad all that riding hasn't obviously done you any good losing weight, oh well, maybe next year!" This time they posted under the handle packin on the pounds.. I called them a coward and said I felt sorry for them that they had nothing better to do with thier pathetic life than to attack me. I then posted to the administrator that I didn't want them to pull the thread. I had this particular thread going on a challenge with a friend for total mileage since the beginning of the year and I didn't want it destroyed because of a little pissant posting nasty things.
I then wrote to the administrator of the forum and informed them of the post and what has been going on. I have told my family if anything happens to me that I want the IP information of this person and I want them to prosecute! I'm trying very hard NOT to be paranoid and irrational, but I don't know that all the strange things going on is coincidence or not.
This person may or may not be a member of the local cycling club as membership to the club isn't necessary to post on the forum. If this person IS a member, then they know EXACTLY where I live etc because of the member directory. They know where I ride, they know I ride alone and they know the times I ride as I've talked about it on the forum AND I was asked to write an article about myself last fall by the Webmaster at the club forum. I don't want this person to chase me off my bicycle, but I have to admit, it's getting harder to make myself get up early on Saturday mornings to head for the club ride 25 miles away. I either have to ride the entire route in the dark or hope that I catch a bus now part of the way and try to make it on time.
I have been throwing spreads like the one I posted a few days ago trying to figure out if I KNOW the person stalking me on the board and also trying to figure out if it's off the board as well. I went to the site Mimi posted again this morning and it appears something is going to happen and SOON as there are three knights in the spread. There are many face cards and since I'm so close to the situation, I'm not sure if I'm reading this correctly. Would someone else please look over the reading and see if it's telling me I know the person and possibly telling me who it is?
I'm glad that this thread was started as it has at least given me somewhere to ask for an opinion and not be ridiculed for pulling the cards for answers. I never heard back from the webmaster and I'm about to write them again and demand the IP information BEFORE anything else happens. Please tell me I'm not being paranoid and over reacting to some name calling. I've had to deal with this kind of crap my entire life, but never dreamed I'd be attacked in such a way on a cycling forum..
Here is the spread I got this morning at the facade site posted earlier...
Celtic Cross
do I personally know the person writing the nasty stuff about me on the forum?
The card not shown but at the center of the cross, represents the atmosphere surrounding the central issue. Nine of Cups (Happiness), when reversed: Vanity, conceit, and smugness in romance, friendship, or other relationships. Achieving what you always thought you wanted. Overindulging in food, drink, or the pleasures of the flesh. A state of joy and abundance that is shallow and fleeting.
The card visible at the center of the cross represents the obstacle that stands in your way - it may even be something that sounds good but is not actually to your benefit. Five of Pentacles (Worry), when reversed: Concern over finance leads to prudent action. Impending physical threat is met with calm and skill. Suffering and loneliness leads to spiritual growth. Stress is met without resorting to excess or the pursuit of oblivion.
The card at the top of the cross represents your goal, or the best you can achieve without a dramatic change of priorities. Knight of Rods: The essence of fire, such a great conflagration. One filled with vitality and passion for life. A sexy and exciting person, daring in their actions, cocky in their attitude, and utterly without fear. Absolute sincerity, coupled with violent emotions that swing wildly from one extreme to another. Boundless creativity and lust for a change of both pace and place. The rapid approach, or more likely departure, of something that sets your world ablaze. Often suggests travel or escape.
The card at the bottom of the cross represents the foundation on which the situation is based.
The card at the left of the cross represents a passing influence or something to be released. King of Cups: The essence of water behaving as air, such as a billowing cloud in the blue sky: Great maturity, endless patience, tolerance of other points of view, and a deep knowledge of human nature. One who intuitively knows the strengths of those around him, and gently cultivates them. Remaining calm and relaxed in all situations, and making artful use of diplomacy or a quiet word to resolve conflicts. The ability to listen to what another person is saying, and truly understand what is in their heart. A rewarding partner and a beloved leader.
The card at the right of the cross represents an approaching influence or something to be embraced. Three of Pentacles (Works): The commencement of business, commercial transactions, or employment. The constructive use of creative talents, and the expression of artistry in workmanship. Skill and labor turned to the crafting of things of value. Using the conventional as a medium for expressing the exceptional, in order to build something of great renown and glory.
The card at the base of the staff represents your role or attitude. Eight of Swords (Interference), when reversed: Learning a valuable lesson from the unexpected consequences of prior decisions. Narrowly escaping criticism, censure, and the imposition of external restrictions. Focusing on the crux of a problem and freeing oneself from a difficult situation. Coming to grips with a past failure or humiliation and moving on.
The card second from the bottom of the staff represents your environment and the people you are interacting with. Page of Cups, when reversed: The dark essence of water behaving as earth, such as a wellspring: An unexpected new relationship that is childish and foolish. An idle dreamer oblivious to the realities of the world. Moodiness, sad reflection, and retreat from society. Seduction and deception in personal and business relationships.
The card second from the top of the staff represents your hopes, fears, or an unexpected element that will come into play. Knight of Swords, when reversed: The dark essence of air behaving as fire, such as a tornado: A merciless and skillful warrior, unfettered by emotion or conscience. A nihilist who can refuse not even the most insurmountable of challenges. A person who inspires fear and hate through their domineering nature and the power of their presence. Speaking without tact or tolerance, in a sarcastic manner. May portend the swift initiation or conclusion of conflict, through the calamitous invocation of force.
The card at the top of the staff represents the ultimate outcome should you continue on this course. Wheel of Fortune, when reversed: An unexpected turn of bad luck. A broken sequence of events. Outside influences for the worse. An inescapable descent due to Fate or Karma. Great changes taking place as a result of earlier actions that cannot be taken back. Misfortune, failure and reluctance to use free will.

The inability to access your inner wisdom sounds like a result of the card being reversed. Has it improved?
Thanks, Dogmama
I'm spending more time each morning in a bit of a meditative state, and feeling as if I'm making some type progress, but I really don't understand where I'm getting or what I'm learning. Weird as that sounds, I still feel a bit lighter about the whole situation. I think I may pull a card later today or tomorrow and see what it says.
Namaste,
