DH and I have agreed to decorate our guest bathroom with a cycling theme. We want to buy the Park Tools Toilet Paper holder. The next thing would be a shower curtain that has bikes. Anyone ever seen one? Maybe even some bike fabric, my mother is pretty talented with sewing.

I was considering getting a framed bike print or stenciling a bike on the wall. Then I just need to find some towels, but I bet a can get some embroidered locally.

Maybe your mom could make a fabric one for you and you could hang it with a clear shower curtain liner?

Which toilet paper holder?

There are all sorts of bike prints here:

http://www.art.com/asp/search/ProductSearch-asp/_/search_String--bicycles/posters.htm?filteroptions=0&isSearch=Y&ui=8E93121BEE194B689C11A1FB7CC75AC1

I was once told that any Aggie worth his or her diploma had an Aggie-themed bathroom. Is your bike bathroom going to be in maroon and white, by any chance? ;)

This topic is just the "off-topic" bit of frippery to take my mind off of heavier matters this morning. Thanks for that.

Thanks for the link. Looks like a lot of neat stuff. I think since we both have blue bikes the bathroom should be blue! We haven't picked a color palette though.

We are going to have an Aggie themed study. I have had it planned for a couple years. Bright white chair rail, maroon below. Above the chair rail the wall will be white. That is the area we will hang our diplomas and maybe a print or our engagement photos (taken at A&M).

Here is the TP Holder. If you notice you open the quick release to load the paper. We saw it at one of the local bike shops in the bathroom and had to have one!

What about painting the bike theme onto a clear plastic shower curtain? Maybe just tire tracks? Or a silhouette of bikes?....Or a helmet where your head would be if you were standing in there? heehee...

Sounds like a great plan either way - I'll be mentioning this idea to my own DH....

Namaste,

for my husband's bday 2 years ago i surprised him with bicycle print curtains in his office.
I can't sew, so i paid a 20 something 50 bucks to make them.

he loves them!

My mother is going to help me make a shower curtain. It will be my first real sewing project. I am thinking of using this fabric (http://www.bearpawquilting.com/cgi-bin/Store/store.cgi?cart_id=7180685.24151.s0&product=novelty_prints_8&productid=novg_5386_6&keywords1=bicycle&sales=0&lastmenu=).

We are considering painting the bathroom BRIGHT yellow. I may not start until after the first of the year, but I have a lot of ideas for this project. :D

Heehee! I've been working on giving my guest room a bike theme(when guests aren't here, the bikes live there), where did you get that pattern? I've been trying to find fabric to make curtains!

We completely gutted our bathroom earlier this year. While not completely bike-themed, I have dubbed it the "yellow jersey" bathroom. Walls are painted Bicycle Yellow - not making it up - that's the name of the paint color we chose! I also framed a couple of Graham Watson prints, including one of the sunflowers and another of the Col de Lautaret.

Love the fabric for the shower curtain though! Have fun with it.

p.s.
The bicycle yellow paint came from Home Depot and is Behr brand.

I may make my guest room some bike throw pillows and window toppers. My mom made us a wonderful set of shams and throw pillows for our master bedroom. I wonder how much sewing I can get for free? :D

We are planning to buy one or two Graham Watson prints for the guest bath! Thanks for the tip on the paint. I am going to pick up a color chip at lunch. :D

Wow! That sounds fun. Maybe we need a thread titled "Show us your bicycle bathroom."

OUr guest room has bicycle fabric curtains. I found it on line, dont remember the store though. it's not dramatic, and it is covered with little classic bicycles.

oops, sorry, i just noticed this is an old old thread and i already posted once about the same thing.

Or you bicycle room! I have to do my study first, then I will be starting on this project. There may not be pictures for a couple months. ;)

Last time I was browsing on e-Bay I saw the paper wrapper from a Campagnolo cogset- from the 70's- ( It was sort of a sleeve that the cog set would have been slid into for shipping ) It was extremely cool- If you like retro looking stuff

I thought it was suitable for framing- almost bid on it for a friend I mine that belongs to the church of Campy- I'm just a shimano girl!

I had to resurect this thread as I'm doing the same thing! We moved into another house a couple months ago and have decided to decorate the guest bath with a bicycle theme. I've already painted the walls bright yellow and we have lots of bicycle stuff to hang on the wall and we just got the toilet paper holder. But still searching for a shower curtain. Has anyone seen anything lately? My mom does sew so I may get some fabric. I think a big wheel shower curtain would look neat.

Here are some very cool bicycle-themed fabrics:

Just type in Bicycle in the Search function:

I may have to make some cycling curtains for my den this winter. It has slowly accumulated a bike theme on it's own. The Phinney jersey, Astana poster, bike sculpture, miniature road bike, a nifty tray with a bike pic on it I found, some photos.

I want to find some chain rings or a cassette and make a clock.

Two years in the house (almost) and I am finally getting to this project. I had a lot of other things I put first but now I am ready to roll.

Tator- Where did you manage to find the TP holder. I have looked everywhere!

My mom and I are going to sew the shower curtain. I have never seen one anywhere but you can find some fabric. Either by Google or checking a local quiliting shop.

Then there is a local embroidary place that can do towels with bikes. I am going to use the metal rings with the little roller balls to give it a slightly industrial/mechanical look.

I need to get some small prints and pick paint. I think my husband is not liking the yellow, maybe blue since we have blue bikes.

I was going to decorate our second bathroom with bicycling stuff. But, it really is my hobby vs. the hubby's too. SO, I tweaked the idea. It's more about adventures that my hubby and I have had. There are a few of my cycling things, patches from rides, photos from the Tour de Kota, a photo collage of my hubby and I on the MS150, pictures from our honeymoon on Kauai. Also a bicycle plant holder.

I am trying to think of a cool shower curtain. Right now we just have a clear one. The bathroom is small, so I don't want anything to over power. I will likely sew one up sometime.

It's fun to read everyone's ideas. I'd love to see finished projects for future ideas, perhaps!!

Great fabric design Aggie! Go for it! Sewing can't be too hard. If you bike a straight line, you can sew a straight line. ;):p

Another idea is to buy clear plastic ..that would be used to cover tables temporarily. Punch some gromlets (ie. holes then with a metal ring inside) and...buy a sort of acrylic paint tubes that dry with a clear smooth water repellant finish.. and use a brush to paint the bicycle(s).

I'm certain any extensive art store with all sorts of acrylic gels, this can be done.

I vote mimitabby to produce tons of these for us..and sell them .. :D

Tatormc, thank-you for reviving this thread! I've been purchasing bicycle themed knick-knacks for the last couple of years but they were scattered around my old apartment randomly so the pieces didn't really work. Now that I have room to display them in one area(kitchen/family), they look great. I think I need a couple of prints, though, to complete the look. Hmmm....<rubs chin> Me thinks some bicycle curtains would be fabulous too.;):D

I like it, Aggie! My cousin went to A&M and her WHOLE HOUSE is one big Aggie place. I mean, maroon and white EVERYWHERE, with pictures of the bonfire on several walls (when they still did that before the tragedy), rugs, towels, napkins, everything. And it's a BIG house in the Woodlands--huge!

Being a kindof French person, I also like that the fabric you chose is in French. Nevermind that it's not quite right grammarwise, it still rocks! Love the quick release TP holder, too. Please let us know how it turns out (pictures!)

Tulip- An Aggie study and one Aggie thing in my kitchen is plenty. I love A&M but I don't want to look like a book store. My husband's friend's house is the same way, everywhere a little knick knack, photo, etc.... We painted our study half maroon and I am wondering how hard it will be to paint over down the road if we move.

We may be switching gears on the shower curtain fabric. I found one that is blue with white bikes. I little more subtle, matches the existing towels and leaves more paint options. Not sure yet as DH hasn't seen it. I am also still on my maddening quest for the Park TP Holder. I posted a wanted ad on Craigslist (hoping) and bid on one on Ebay. I don't have luck with Ebay so I am doubtful.

That is the one. I liked the Tour De France ones but I want it to be less race centric and more just bikes. I want subtle, this bathroom is tiny and I have several ideas so I don't want to over kill with a really bold curtain.

I can't see the photos since I don't want to register but the description sounds like overkill. A lot of neat ideas but way too much, unless the room is really big.

I got my TP holder in the mail- happy dance!! I am so glad that worked out since the one on E-bay went for $56. This one I found on craigslist, still in orginal box for $30 with shipping. :D

Now I am off to order the fabric and hopefully this weekend drag DH to pick paint.
